I would give this place a negative rating if I could. My mother who has dementia was there for a day and half and she was fine when she 1st got there and after the day and a half she was on her death bed. They tried to over dose her with morphine and other drugs and tell us that she was at end stage of life. We decided to take her home and with in an hour of being home my mother was back to eating and drinking k and being her fun loving self. My wife has been with the Sandy Rehab for many years and she has got the best care from everyone. From the Nurses, Aids, the kitchen staff, laundry service and the cleaning ladies. Some names are Tim, Abbie, Bree, Sarah, Ashley, Sam, Katie, Suzette, Melissa, Darin, Jason, Mason, Hana, Issac, Austin, Brit. If you care about your loved one's safety and recovery, avoid this place. Multiple patients openly use illegal drugs, and there have been assaults and thefts. Both staff and police are aware, but nothing changes. The administrator clearly prioritizes profit over patient health and safety. The nursing staff has been pretty good, but they are obviously overworked, and the good ones leave quickly. The food is terrible, there are no meaningful activities, and the building constantly smells like urine. They are frequently out of basic medical supplies and even medications patients are supposed to be taking, which is insane to me. read more

The doctor at this sandy health and rehab attempted to kill our Mother. She overdosed her multiple times sending her into comatose state. After repeatedly requesting that the doctor lessen the amount of insulin, and my mother nearly passing away, and the Doctor refusing to listen to us.., on purpose, i finally called paramedics. The director of this rehab would not let paramedics take our mom out of rehab. I and my husband stepped in and we got the job done. At hospital, it was confirmed that she was being overdosed and that she would have died. We are now starting a formal lawsuit against Sandy Rehab and we will shut them down so nobody else has to go through this. Please read this before you allow any family member or left when to go into Sandy health and rehab. Theywill kill your loved ones. Oh and my mom died the next week. read more

My brother Kenny has been a resident of Sandy going on 4-5 years. He calls it home! As a caregiver that brings comfort to me. The team of staff from CNA's Nurses, office & more work very hard to help with any and all concerns. The only reason I'm giving a 2 star is because there were a couple of staff that were amazing. Darren from PT was so great with my sister, the respiratory staff are very knowledgeable with trach care and a couple of cna's/ RNs really showed that they cared about the patients. But the bad out weighed the good by far!!!! Let's start with my sister fell out of the bed and a CLOSET CABINET FELL ON HER! The food is horrible, we had to buy her food and bring it in because she was hungry. They moved her right next to the window so she was always cold. The facility is really dirty and needs repair!!! When we first got there the bedroom sink was leaking on the floor and I had to find a bucket for the water, they didn't have soap or paper towels in the room for days, the nursing staff did NOT know how to take care of a trach patient, the communication between the staff and family is basically non-existent unless I hunted them down. The safety and standard of care is very poor! I would not recommend this facility. Unfortunately, we didn't have much choice. read more

If you want your family member to die quickly send them here otherwise stay far away!!! I visited my mom on January 12th and she was up walking and outside and talking normally I went out of town for about one week and came back to her being sedated without authorization. Constantly sleeping and not eating because she was never awake. When the facility was asked about this they said she was talking about her dead relatives and combative. She had dementia so that was somewhat normal and should not be treated with sedative medication. They consistently tried to change medication for depression and delusions but could never find what made the change. During this time she became unable to use the restroom herself and was left to sit in her mess for hours. Also left to not eat or drink or be assisted with anything. Needless to say she severely declined daily. I arrived to their facility on February 18th with her upside down in her bed soiled and And pretty much in the throes of death. I asked the nurse toprovide something to help her with the pain and the panic at 3 PM and was told they would order end of life care (comfort meds). Our family gathered to be with her and had to sit and watch her suffer unnecessary for hours with zero privacy as her roommate continued to provide unwelcome commentary. By 6 pm no meds and we were required to sit next to her in order to keep Her from falling out of bed due to the lashing about. The nurse was asked again for medications and she didn't know but she would give my mother somebody else's morphine.... At the time it was a relief but looking back I wonder how this is legal and ok??? The morphine did nothing and this continued until I asked again and she brought my mom someone else's Ativan!! About this time we finally got somebody to change her clothing and soiled diaper finally! During all of this While she was thrashing around and gurgling they felt it was a good idea to bring her a full meal! Why would that be beeded? Obviously there was 0 communication of what was going on. We had a doc come in one time and indicate she was dying (duh) and they would assist. At 730 we again asked when her meds would arrive because it did not seem to be helping and the nurse informed us she didn't know where the med's were and her shift was over. At this point I called in a separate hospice facility to assist (family member) Because the medication was not being administered as it should have been and it was becoming very painful to watch. They arrived at 9 PM and asked the new nurse on duty when the medications for my mother would arrive and was told there was never any orders put in from the 1st nurse!! Luckily our new nurse was able to provide some relief and clean her up to allow my mother to pass peacefully and with some dignity. 2 weeks prior to all of this a custom made oversized crochet blanket of my mother's went missing I asked for it to be located and returned as it did have her name on it And had been in our family for quite some time with no results. When my mother passed I asked again for that blanket and her items to be picked up. I got no phone calls back ( Because all they do is push you to random voicemails) no text replies from the social workers who are supposed to be helping. Today is 4 weeks since my mother passed I informed them I was coming for all of her stuff And have been told that nothing was there including the blanket. I am currently filing a complaint with the seat for many items including neglect, lack of end of life care, Administering medications that don't belong to patients and theft. I again cannot tell how disgustand unprofessional this places and if it is recommended to you run as fast and far away as you can! read more

This is one of the worst facilities in Sandy, Utah. My parents went there for respite care and it was AWFUL!! My mother vomited and was left for hours. My father has dementia and sundowners and he was in his worst in the entire seven months that I've taken cared of my parents. NEVER NEVER AGAIN will my parents ever go to this awful facility. I knew from the beginning of researching facilities this was a bad choice. However was told by social worker it was a good place. I always go with my gut feelings and should have never let them go. read more

I know we do a lot wrong but we also do a lot right! I have worked here for two years and it has became my home away from home! I love working here because the difference we make in our residence. i know you read all these bad reviews but with any establishment you have the good and the bad! You always hear more about the bad than you do the good! We have residents that have been here for more than 10 years and they love it! It's like any facility we try our hardest and it's hard to please everyone! this is my all time favorite job I have ever had! It's very rewarding at the end of the day! I know patients that leave and when they need to they come back I also have residents that leave and come back to visit the great staff and other residents, so it actually can't be that bad. This place sucks worse than anyone could ever imagine. When I came here I had a cane after less than a week I'm in a wheelchair. I've been waiting over an hour and a half for my medication I have a fractured pelvis and the longer I wait the worse the pain. Not to mention my anxiety is through the roof. They have little black bugs all over and it smells like urine. Also I'm a vegetarian and the 1st morning I got a sausage muffin, my next meal was a chili dog. Please please don't come here and never send anyone you love her. It is horrifying!!! read more

For one you should question the ethics of someone who has employees review their business, as I have seen here and on Google Reviews. Two, the food is unhealthy: high sugar, high fat, highly processed. My family member is diabetic and I had to intervene to ask for diff food, which means either they don't ask whether patients have dietary needs, or they do but the nurses/chefs don't look! Don't like doing this, but cannot in good conscious let others walk in Sandy Rehab blind. Unable to speak to their Rehab capabilities, but wasn't a good hospice care facility. If you use them, please check on your loved one REGULARLY (like 2 times a day). My brother was placed by the VA at Sandy Rehab for his last 10 days, sadly at the point where palliative care was our only need and greatest concern. What happened over first several days following his move there from VA hospital was simply horrible. Besides being lackadaisical on his hygiene, WERE NOT GIVING OUR BROTHER HIS PAIN MEDICATION ! We'd show up and he was uncomfortable, often in tremendous pain. We'd go seek someone who told us, "well, he hasn't called for it". WHAT THE H#@*?? There's a schedule. Sandy Rehab can't manage delivering pain medication on a 4-hour schedule to a dying patient? One person informed us that no one would give medication until he actively asked for it. One care giver was simply rude and uninterested in making an effort for his comfort. "Maybe he doesn't need it and you're just over reacting". Are you kidding me here!? This was someone end-staging, drifting in and out of consciousness, most 'outs' caused by spiking pain and they are waiting for him to find the control, push buttons or make a freaking phone call! We escalated to facility Director and finally got him a pump to deliver regular pain relief. Luckily after that, his last days were quiet. Simply can't imagine level of suffering a patient in this facility might endure without someone outside actively watching over them. Every doctor will tell you, "keep on the medication schedule, stay in front of the pain". Someone please tell Sandy Rehab. Two stars and not one because they have some staff who actively engaged in finding a solution (after we pitched a fit). read more

My grandfather spent the last week of his life at Sandy Rehab. I was so impressed by the staff who so tenderly cared for my grandpa and were such a great resource for our family during a very difficult time. Special thanks to Lisa, the community liaison, for helping make his transition into Sandy Rehab a smooth one. He had so many stellar CNAs at Sandy Rehab - they were so gentle and treated him with dignity. Thank you to the wonderful nurses who oversaw his care. Sweet Judy in the social services dept, thank you for supporting our family and being such a great advocate for my grandpa. ADON Rob responded to our clinical questions patiently and quickly. Administrator Matt checked in w our family frequently and showed such genuine concern. Bobbi in physical therapy was such a gentle presence when my grandpa first arrived. My grandpa passed peacefully while in your care. I'm so incredibly grateful! read more

I wish I could give no stars I, they deserve no stars! I was there for one minute and had the instinct to grab my loved one and run. I literally threw up, the whole place has an overwhelming smell of urine. I walked by a closet full of just adult diapers. Because we have Medicaid we are given the Medicaid area , yes it really is a thing. I heard the nurses say just that. If your loved one wants a drink of water it comes from a picture full of pre made ice water and the picture looks like it was never ever washed. They can't deliver meds to patients but they all HAVE to wear a diaper at night. No options, it's policy. You give up your constitutional right to choose here. As soon as I can get him out of here I will. Until then I will stay with him at the location, or on the phone the whole time until I can remove him. Most elderly patients here are slumped over in a wheelchair, in the hall for hours WHY? Where is their family? Shame on you! read more

I believe that the care my brother received during his five month stay at Sandy Health and Rehab literally saved his life. When my brother was admitted to the facility, he was malnourished and in the advanced stages of liver disease. With consistent and proper nutrition, the care of a concerned and competent medical team, and the support of the entire staff, my brother thrived! He was discharged a few weeks ago-- healthy and strong enough to live in an independent living facility. Our family is grateful-- not only for the care our brother received at Sandy Health and Rehab, but for the support WE received as a family. It was a difficult time for all of us, but with the unwavering patience and guidance of the nurses, doctors, and social workers at Sandy Health and Rehab, we got through it. This is my second Rehab facility and I have to say their private rooms are very clean and nice and my care has been marvelous. Their physical and occupational therapy is unbelievable. Most of the time I just wheeled my wheelchair down to the gym and didn't have to wait for them to get me started. And if I didn't get down there it wouldn't take them to long to come get me. Their social workers are very friendly and hard working and are willing to fight for your insurance benefits and so are the administrative people. Unfortunately my insurance company has terminated my services, I think before they should have my social worker and administrative assistant had a plan already in place to help me with my next step. If you're looking for a great Rehab than check it it. It might be worth your time. read more

My very elderly father was there twice for respite care while my sister (who he lived with) was out of town, once for a week and once for a long weekend. We had a bad experience both times. The first time, my sister left a bag of his meds when she dropped him off and explained them to the nurse. They forgot to give him his blood pressure medication the first couple days. The mistake was caught by a volunteer from his church who visited, was surprised at the condition he was in, and called my sister. She then spoke to the nurse to ensure he had been given all of his meds and found out he had not gotten his blood pressure medication. He could have had a major stroke. We figured that was just one mistake and it would be OK to leave him there the next time. WRONG. The second time he suffered actual abuse. During transfers to his wheelchair, he would tell them to wait a minute because his Parkinson's made him slow and stiff. His speech is slurred so they might not have understood him, and they just pushed him in his chair, causing bad skin tears and bruises. On one occasion he asked to go to the bathroom shortly after he had been seated for lunch. An aide angrily said she would take him, then took him to his room and left him there without ever helping him use the bathroom. I happened to call while he was in his room and he said something about being hungry because he never had lunch. I asked why he didn't just ring for an aide and he said "I'm afraid to. I don't want to make them mad." Then he told me what had happened when he asked for help with the bathroom. I called the nursing station and they got him help, but he was a proud, dignified man and I was crushed to hear him say he was afraid. When my sister came to pick him up, the next day, they said that next time she should leave his meds with him. They said they had given him his prescribed meds over the weekend by "borrowing" the pills he needed from other patients. In fact, she HAD left off his meds, with detailed instructions on how to give them. We would NEVER recommend this facility to anyone, and, in fact, filed a complaint with the State Adult Protective Services. read more

This is my fourth care center in 1 1/2 years. I can say from experience they are great here!! It is the difference between night and day. I would highly recommend Sandy Rehab to anyone! I love the therapy here. They go according to my doings and how I am feeling rather than bullying me and say we have to do this. The aides and nurses are great!!
