We had these guys come out a few weeks ago just because we were about to purchase a home and I was checking out the home inspectors near me. The positives I will say is that Russ was very responsive from the moment we inquired about him and set things up and communicating with him. He'll even show up on time unlike most people nowadays. Russ did his job fine but me and my wife on site felt like he was not checking out other things that we noticed that were worth noting, picturing or documented so I could have a way to possibly get the owner to fix it before I purchase. All in all, Russ is friendly , his prices are fair and you'll learn a great thing or two from him personally which are great but just be vigilant to find and point out your issues and ask questions to make sure it can be documented. read more

Lack of attention to details, inept, mishandled paperwork, that's what you will get. Seemed to only have general knowledge that your dad or Uncle can probably address more pertinent issues. You might be better off watching a few YouTube videos then doing your own inspection. They missed 2 active infestations, Mud daubers (wasps) in the side attic. Carpenter ants in the basement. Both which we found about a month after we moved in, on our own. The exterminator said that had the inspector looked, there was no way to miss that they had been active for quite a while. I could maybe let the wasps slide, you would have to pay attention to general details to find it. The carpenter ants we found after cleaning. Had they looked at the joists in the basement they would never have missed the 2 spots. He also missed the flashing around the exhaust for the heat and fireplace while on the roof, had to have that repaired the 1st year we were in the house. Then there was the wood above the entrance that had it's own damage from the carpenter ants that needed to fully be replaced. He will point out some minor things, outlets in the bathroom, missing window cranks/ broken gear in window. Gutters needing more hangers... To top it off his assistant (wife) tried to turn us into collections for non payment, when I called and paid the day after the inspection. We emailed them the credit card receipt, and was I was right. That that kind of mistake doesn't often happen, and they would update their records. He couldn't even own that one and say they were sorry. I'm sure they would have excuses for everything they miss, and blame the homeowner or God. I highly recommend finding someone else or brush up on YouTube, you can only have better results. The one star is warranted, this has to do with your home. I knew what to expect from a buyer's home inspection since I used Assure for a pre-inspection. What I didn't expect was that Assure would be the buyer's inspector and use information from the original report that had since been improved. Electrical outlets, missing tiles on the floor, disconnected vents, chipped paint... all which had been fixed, replaced, or improved upon showed up again in the buyer's report due to absolute laziness. Did you not think that someone would notice that the deck changes colors depending on what page of the report you are looking at? It has been painted since the first inspection. I hope they didn't charge the buyer for the product they gave. read more

Stay as far away from this company as you possibly can. They did an inspection for my Home as a first time buyer and missed items that nearly killed me. From day one, the house exhibited major problems. I bought the property on August 27, I have had electrical outlets explode, nonstop plumbing issues including several floods, a sewage explosion under the home, and carbon monoxide poisoning from gas piping out of building code. It is true that some of the plumbing issues could not have been identified but the gas pipes are open and easily seen that the joints between the pipes are the wrong metal. I already had several appointments with a doctor due to mysterious and severe neurological issues. After six gas leaks were found in my home, and then fixed in December, I began to recover. ASSURE HOME INSPECTION AND HAROLD (RUSS) WEIGAL SOLD ME A LEMON. Day 1: Electrical trips and surges in the entire home when the front entryway light is flipped on. Day 3: Kitchen sink floods from the kitchen to floors down into the sub basement because the piping under the sink was on backwards. 2 weeks in: Every time the upstairs bathroom flushes, raw sewage leaks into the bathroom below. Wood rot, Rusty nails, and black mold are found in the ceiling below the toilet. All needs to be replaced. Oct 27: Raw sewage floods five rooms of the first basement which also destroys 1 foot of all the drywall and requires an entire rehab. Nov 5th: Phone is plugged into an outlet that explodes on contact with sparks and smoke. December 23: A guest smells natural gas in the laundry room and the gas company is called. 4 gas leaks are discovered in the sub basement One is discovered behind the oven. Gas is shut off. Gas piping in the home contains aluminum joins which contributes to the leaks that led to carbon monoxide poisoning. (Confirmed by gas company, three contractors, and a neurologist) February 20: ant hill found in kitchen wall. None of this was ever mentioned and an inspection report, however they did mention that the gutters needed cleaning. I URGE YOU TO TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE TO AVOID THE UTTERLY DEVASTATING EXPERIENCE I HAVE ENDURED BECAUSE MY HOME INSPECTOR CARED MORE ABOUT HIS PAYCHECK THAN MY HEALTH AND WELL-BEING. read more

Being in the trades I get asked often for recommendations. Personally I would use Assure for any of my properties. I would highly recommend them for radon testing and any signs of mold. They are very knowledgeable and easy to work with. read more

My wife and I recently purchased a home and used Russ for our inspection. We are very pleased with his service and expertise. He allowed my wife and I to be present for the inspection and educated us through the entire process. His company provides you with a clear break down of everything found during the inspection. So I moved into my house in the fall. I have had a lot of issues that should have been caught by this inspection company to begin with. In example..none of my windows were even caulked after the windows were installed. This was caught by two separate handymen within minutes of seeing my home..This company was referred to me by my realtor, and I thought I had gone the right route until an array of things were pointed out to me within a few months of moving in that were never discovered during the inspection. (By the way, I paid this company twice for two houses(1 I decided not to go through with, and for radon tests as well, so I gave them a large chunk of money..) This company doesnt know how to use a telephone. My first appointment with them was a no call no show and they explained there was an incorrect address in their computer system. Fine, mistakes happen. So call me and explain they cant find us, but no. They didnt . They just went on to their next appointment. So i rescheduled. My second appointment was also a no show, for almost two hours. When the guy did show up, he told me there was a scheduling problem. Really? Made me think twice about the kind of job they were going to do. It was a mold remediation. I went with someone else and im glad i did. read more

Beware of this company. We hired Russ to inspect our house in Mokena and learned a few months later that he missed the attic. When asked about it, he said he can't remember if he went up there or not. His error costs us over $10,000 in repairs. While he told us he felt bad about it but didn't spilt the repairs. Do Not Hire Assure Home Inspection. Russ, the home inspector, is a great guy but he lacks the knowledge of what an inspector should possess. He was recommended to me by my real estate agent, so I hired him end of Oct 2017. He sent me his report a couple days later which consisted of 72 pages. The full thorough report was only 36 pages, but Russ didn't seem to know how to format his own reporting documents. This initially made me question Russ and his attention to detail, which later held true to his huge miss. I purchased the home he inspected, moved in mid Nov 2017. Literally, the move in day, I was in the basement and saw water dripping from the main plumbing waste line when the toilet was flushed once upstairs. I investigated further and found that the main waste line had been cracked off at the foundation exterior, which caused the water to back up in the entire house!!! I couldn't use running water in my house for over 2 weeks! If Russ knew what he was doing, he would've caught this. Instead, I caught it, then I had to pay several thousand dollars to fix it. Like I said previously, Russ is a nice guy, this is just business and he didn't perform well. read more
