When I learned that residents were losing access to TV programming after 5 p.m., I brought the concern to Maria's attention. She listened, took it seriously, and worked with James to restore the programming for residents. This may seem like a small issue, but for many residents, evening television is an important source of enjoyment, comfort, and connection. I've picked my mother up on several occasions where it is evident she is in respiratory distress. I've had to take her to the doctor and they've asked why the facility has allowed this to occur. Very recently, this occurred again and she ended up first in the emergency room, then was hospitalized for a couple of days. I have asked to speak with the director to inquire about staff protocols and whether or not a RN is on staff. She has not responded to either calls or emails. The actual staff working with my mother seem very caring. Management seems very lacking. read more

The 1 star is strictly for the management team. I've sent the wellness director Ruth Villa, the office manager Michelle Castillo, and the executive director Stephanie Funderburg, multiple emails with no response. This is extremely frustrating for someone who works a full time job and does not live close by. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to help manage my mom's care if I can't actually get a hold of anyone. It's also pretty concerning that not a single one of these folks read their emails. read more

Admitted my father in law into this facility due to great reviews from word of mouth from a skilled nursing facility that's no longer open. We expected amazing care due to our tour with Michelle but unfortunately for months while he was there, we just kept getting calls after calls about things where it got to the point when it made us feel like this facility doesn't have the best training for staff in their memory care unit. We now have him at an assistant living in Glendale with no complaints and even my father in law is happy there. And I'm so happy he's happy where he's at. It makes me concerned on what was happening at Astoria because he was scared and anxious all the time. And now in the new facility, we've haven't seen him this happy in a long time. My father stayed here for about a month and man do they just not care about anybody here. Let me be real here, nighttime staff is 2-3 people for a facility of 50 plus beds. My father had his Memory issues and sometimes acted out just like any Dementia patient, he stayed at a SNF prior to living here for 3 months and I had 0 complaints from them. When I did a tour here prior to moving my father in I was introduced to Michelle, my girlfriend and I were shown a nice room with a MASSIVE closet mirror, right there I knew that was a red flag because my father would talk to himself in the mirror. My girlfriend and I both told Michelle how it would be a bad idea because of the mirrors in his room, she said to not worry and that they will change them out by the time my father moves in. Long story short they did not change it out, my father freaks out talking to himself, and I get pressed by Ann-Marie the Head Nurse because I supposedly "did not tell anybody about the mirror issue". Gotcha, so Michelle forgot to communicate that. A couple times I got a call from Astoria informing me that he was acting out a bit and that maybe changing up his medication would be a good option, I agreed on it as well as the "at facility" Psychologist. But to tell me that you are going to change his medication up and 3 WEEKS LATER at a Hospital I find out that the medication was put in the system but was never actually administer to him.. How could you just do that to somebody? Also, my father ended up being re-evaluated at a hospital (for 2 weeks) and stayed at a SNF for a month and a half, this facility still had the audacity to charge me his months rent? Have to pay his rent somewhere even though he's currently at a Skilled Nursing Facility? Crazy. To correct the record, you only moved my Aunt ONCE after several requests from us. The new roommate was worse and we later found that vacancy opened up after the previous person only stayed 3 days. It is obvious that you did not care for any meaningful match up and just haphazardly put people together for your convenience. You should have been proactive with addressing the difficult residents who scared other gentler people out of the rooms instead of leaving the gentler residents to put up with the tyrants. The lack of return communication has been cited by others and it didn't improve when my Aunt was there. We are glad we found a better assisted living arrangement for our Aunt. Our comments are to warn others about Astoria Park's lack of management oversight to help all residents have pleasant stay there. The lack of returned calls is just unprofessional in any business setting! read more

My dad has been in assisted living at Astoria Park for the past 5 months. What I like about Astoria Park is that it is large enough to have the amenities, offerings and activities that one would want, yet it is not too big. Its size allows for a comfortable feel, and for the residents to get to know one another and get to know the staff, without feeling like they are in a massive senior living complex. It has a comfortable and cozy feel. The residents are a nice and friendly group of people. The staff are very friendly, courteous and helpful. They give a personal touch to care. The staff have some flexibility with the care plans to accomodate differing needs of the residents. The independent hairdresser who comes in to the salon on premises is super nice and seems to have a knack for developing a great rapport with the residents. read more

My significant other has recently been admitted to this excellent facility in May 2023. The healthcare team is very attentive, professional, and respectful to the residents. Family members are sometimes allowed to stay over and participate in programs designated for patients to make them feel like being at home and enjoy great experiences with healthy food and daily activities to make individuals stay fit and sharp with mind. Very nice staff nd very nice layout. I came here for an open house for the memory care unit nd I was impressed. Great unit, nice and secure but also homely. It didn't feel like a mini prison or psych ward but was really warm and inviting. Also didn't have the typical smell of elderly. Had a very welcoming prescence nd the staff is really nice. Regency Park Astoria, one of the most affordable retirement communities in the San Gabriel Valley, the friendly staff and dedicated administrator prove I had made a great choice moving my father into the community. As everyone I felt guilty, the administrator and his staff made my guilt go away day by day reassuring that it would not be an easy transition but they would be there to support me and family daily. I feel a great sense of relief knowing my mother is staying at Astoria. She needs the commuinity and the care that is provided there. I have seen some changes over the past 6 months that show me they care to be the best they can. My mother said the food is better now with a new chef. The wellness Director, Natalia is involved and present, she is very helpful. The staff has always been friendly and my mother has never had a bad thing to say. She always answers my questions and puts me at ease. My mother has some dementia and needed around the clock care. Its nice to know she is safe and happy. This is senior living and also has options for memory care (dementia). The building is older and a bit dated in style. But I compared several options and the pricing and program, housing , and care met my needs the best. My mother is happy, and so am I. read more

My husband has been in the Memory Care Unit at Regency Park Astoria since late November after spending five months at another facility. He was doing very poorly at the first facility and doctors said he was ready for hospice. Since being in the wonderful atmosphere with the caring staff at Regency Park Astoria he is doing much better and does not need hospice after all. I am very pleased and so grateful to all the wonderful caregivers. I no longer worry about the care he is receiving. He is calm and content the majority of the time which is a great improvement. My Mom has been at Regency Park Astoria for 4 months now in the memory care unit. The staff is wonderful and kind. The facility is very clean and has a great atmosphere, with lots of sunshine from the patio. The staff is quick to answer my questions regarding Mom's medication and how she is doing. I live 2 hours away and feel very confident and worry free with the care she is receiving. Mom had to be rushed to the hospital last month and the staff took care of getting her there and staying with her until family could arrive. To top it off the staff provides emotional support to us as a family as we go through this difficult time with my Mom suffering from dementia. The price was reasonable, right up to the time the Regency Park corporation took over. Then, they jacked up the price by an extra $1300. That sure was a shock! What I noticed the first time I visited Regency Park Astoria was the camaraderie among the staff. It was evident that the majority of employees respected and enjoyed working with one another. Since my husband has been living there I've witnessed this respect from the "top down" and this harmonious atmosphere impacts the residents and their families in a positive way. Very pleased with the beauty and cleanliness of the facility's interior. Maintenance staff does an excellent job. Decor is gracious, dining room well-run, food choices and activities varied. The CNA's are kind and professional, extending genuine warmth and caring for the residents they assist. They are respectful of my husband's dignity and address his personal needs with professionalism. I am grateful for Astoria and the important place it holds in the life of our family. Regency Park is a wonderful place to have your loved one. My mother has been there for 2 years and has been treated with the utmost respect and care. The facility is always spotless, caregivers greet me by name and I always feel welcome when I visit. I appreciate the personal care my mother receives in the Memory Care Unit such as personal grooming and care to help her pick out her clothes each day. Whenever there is the slightest change in my moms condition they are sure to call me and keep me updated. I can not say enough about the manager of Memory Care Lourdes and they activities director Rosie. They do their best to make sure the residents are tended to and occupied with activities throughout the day. Whenever I visit, my mothers room is spotless so kudos to the housekeeping Crew to keep all rooms cleaned each day. Medications are given three times a day and tracked on a portable computer by resident so I feel confident they are administered as directed. I really appreciate The medication staff making sure to fill all mom's prescriptions each month. I don't have to do a thing. Such a relief as before she was at Regency Park I was running around to doctors and pharmacies each week trying to keep up with it. I would highly recommend Regency Park Astoria to anyone looking into assisted living or memory care for their loved one. read more

If you truly love your loved ones, don't bring them to the Regency Park Astoria. So much turn around! Are they a fast food joint? They have had four different property managers in the last year. Is that normal to you? The care givers with few exceptions, are not trained. Most of the Med Administration staff are either rude, roll their eyes at residents who are seeking assistance, or ignore them entirely. They are understaffed, and so, over medicate the residents because they are understaffed, and the food is, can I say food? I mean garbage is inedible. If you want to save a few dollars on assisted living, the Regency Park Astoria is not the way to go. The Regency Park Astoria sounds like a Marriott owned Property, but they are nothing like it. On the surface might seem a wonderful solution for care, but, their management team and horrible Mobile Docs and Mobile Therapists will only cause more problems for you. The one star is for the few genuine care givers there who stand out and truly care. read more

While I would have given 10 stars if I could, I now give less than 1. The "corp management" came in and made changes to the executive directors position and she is no longer here. The only reason I brought my father here is because of the previous Executive Director, Dyan. After speaking with the many families here they can all attest that the only reason they moved in was because of Dyan. She brought new life and happiness into this building that was never prior here. She was so close to all of the residents and always had time for them and their families no matter what. Her decorations, and the way she decorated for the holidays was phenomenal: Just top notch! She did everything that a family member would do for a loved one, for these residents here, including my husband. She made everyone feel loved and welcome. Since she has left, it is a depressing, dull aura within the building. The residents seem sad, and there is no "life" here anymore...it is so so so sad to see. She had such an impact on the lives of these residents, she was the BEST! She was the glue that made Astoria who it was,and now she has been taken away from us, so many residents are disturbed, crying, and devastated by her departure. I only wish corporate office realizes the damage and most horrible decision they could have ever made not having her here. It will never ever be the same. Myself and a few other families are already talking about moving our loved ones out. read more

I very disapointed in the care my father received here in the last few months. The previous management that ran Astoria was superb always kept me in communication on my father care and everyone was so nice and would smile as they enjoyed there job. Since the "new" administration took over its been a nightmare. My father was kicked out without any excuse which caused myself and family stressed as we did not have a place for him to go. I was simply told by the new administrator that they could not take care of my father anymore! What! That was never a problem when the last administrator was there he was a good leader and all his staff had kindness in there hearts. I know this new administrator and her minions are there only for the money. And its sad because i have been in the regency park family for over three years my father had come from oak knoll to astoria and both gladys & nestor were superb administrators. Sadly my father is in a nursing home now and receiving care due to some bad service my father received at Astoria recently. Im currently seeing legal advice for this situation. Dont put your loved one there its awful hopefully they get back the last administrator or at least a competent one. read more
