Colin went above and beyond before services began, as he spent several hours with my mom and I to better understand the issues she was facing and what kind of help she would require, as well as spending a significant amount of time with us prepping the home for the nurses. The help my mom received from the nurses was exceptional and they were consistently attentive, amicable, and supportive. I highly recommend Presidio if you or a loved one needs in-home care.

From the first moments where he came to our home, listened to our wants for our dad, our concerns and worries regarding our past experiences with other companies, and our desire for our dad to have the best care from those who REALLY have huge hearts, infinite patience, and viable skills in taking care of a man during his journey through Alzheimer's. They cooked like it was for their family, bathed and dressed him like he was their own dad, learned PT support to help keep him strong, were tough on him when he needed extra encouragement and just spoke to him with such kindness and respect that although he couldn't remember their names, I knew that he felt safe and respected in their care. To Carla, Titin, Banessa, and Sochi....you are the best of the best! Anyone who is in your care is truly blessed and you all will forever be family to me and I miss your humor, delicious cooking (Banessa's black beans are epic!), and our long conversations. Thank you for being there with him until his final breath and crying with me afterwards. God bless you all! Anyone who needs a personal recommendation is welcome to reach out to me.

This review is going to reveal what can be considered an absolute rescue story !…read more Having been hospitalized, the status of my discharge was entirely uncertain. Where will I go after this hospitalization? Think about the anxiety and tension not knowing where I would be going. As an 84 year old senior citizen, this predicament could be considered filled with debilitating uncertainty. The social worker and case manager both offered information and possible dispositions. One of the referrals was to Giselle Placement Help. In fact the workers gave me a tip to start off with Giselle. I called her first and she gave me three referrals one in Lynnwood and two in the San Fernando Valley. One never called back , one said I was not eligible , and the third was to an administrator who arrived at the hospital at 12:30 p.m. . After extensively interviewing myself he spoke with all the nurses and doctors in the unit and then inform me that I would be eligible to come to his facility and showed me pictures of the private room where I would be . He was extraordinarily kind and made sure that every need that I had was going to be met . In addition he actually helped me move some of my belongings . So you can see that this referral took care of enormous uncertainty and perhaps Karma is involved in making such a successful transition .

    Five Star Home Hospice

    Five Star Home Hospice

Hard to believe a medical service can be as attentive as a fine dining restaurant, but that is what…read morethis was. We used Five Star for about five days. Medicare and Optum covered the hospice side. I paid separately for 24/7 caregivers through Sincere Care Services, which I chose because I wanted Cantonese and Mandarin speakers so my mother would be more comfortable. Five Star was recommended by the Optum physician on staff. Separately, a family member recommended them too, through a friend whose father had passed the week before. I checked their ratings on Yelp and Google before moving forward, and I am extremely happy with the service we got from start to finish. This is the point where you decide between more hospital intervention, which can be painful, and accepting the situation and moving to hospice. Hospice is the wedding coordinator for a peaceful death. Things can still go wrong even when you plan everything perfectly, but Five Star was there at every step to handle whatever came up. The rough sequence for anyone about to do this: 1. Decide on hospice. 2. Line up caregivers. They are separate from Five Star, but Five Star will point you to good ones. I wanted Chinese-speaking caregivers and Mark made it happen. 3. Coordinate with the hospital on transportation. 4. Be home to receive the supplies. 5. Be home when your loved one arrives. Have a bottle of distilled water ready for the oxygen machine. 6. Have the nurse and the caregiver both there so you can learn the comfort meds. 7. I used 24/7 caregivers on 12-hour shifts. I made a point of being there whenever a new caregiver came on, so I could walk them through the medications and get their phone number. Nurses came once a day to check on my mother since she was close. You do not have to be there the whole time, but I tried to be there for shift changes. One thing I wish I had watched more closely was bowel movements. My mother had been constipated since the hospital because she was not eating. Another tip: put together a playlist of beautiful music to play in the room. Otherwise it is silence, or your loved one is listening to caregivers talk and scroll on their phones. Even when your loved one is not responsive, they are still listening and drifting in and out. Tell them everything will be okay. Thank them for everything they did for you. I think it helps them go peacefully. Anytime I needed something, Mark was a text or a call away and he always answered. Again, they are the wedding coordinators for a loved one's passing, and they will do everything within their power to help you through it.

The owner and staff were incredibly kind and compassionate during a very difficult time.read more
