Been to Wynwood so many times and randomly stumbled into Astra for the first time. The views are impressive especially at sunset and the DJ on Sundays mixes up some progressive house that sets the chill vibes. We ate small bites at the bar, the food was flavorful, well prepared and presentation was on point. The bar was the only issue, for a Sunday one bartender is unacceptable. Not to mention the bartender's attitude and lack of interest to interact with customers was a problem. I would try the bar again maybe it was a random problem that day. read more

My friends and I (3 of us) made a reservation to celebrate my birthday and I was very disappointed by their service, hence the 3 stars. You get temperature tested before going up the elevator. The hostess takes you to your table, for us it was on the sides with no real views just street parking, but I can live with that. What disappointed me is that the table was still dirty, dishes from the previous table were there, so we were waiting for it to be taken. When the waiter took it, he didn't wipe the table. I had to request for it SEVERAL times before it was wiped down. We wanted to move to a high table, or a table in general but there's a $200 minimum and it was such a struggle to find out because we would ask the waiter but he would always redirect us to the hostess. Nobody explained how it worked and it was very confusing. Throughout our dinner, we also noticed people wandering around a lot after being taken to their table, like we did trying to switch tables. Anyway, it became such a hassle we stayed at our low table, one of those were you have to hunch over when you're trying to eat. You have to scan a QR code for the menu, but only the waiter had the code. I don't understand why they don't have it printed at every table. We were waiting to receive menus and water for the longest time, I would say over 10 min of sitting at the table. Their service was extremely slow and felt uncoordinated. The workers bringing out the food wasn't the waiter and they didn't know which table it belonged to. We had to call the worker over to let them know it was our appetizer because he was turning around in circles not knowing which table. We also had to tell them when it wasn't our entrees when they brought it to us. The only reason they are getting a 3 stars and not a 1 or 2 is because their food was great. It was extremely pricey for moderate portion sizes, but my friends and I really enjoyed the food. I had the lamb chops which come with spinach. It's finally not sweltering and that makes the rooftop at ASTRA that much more of a magical getaway during our pandemic dining experience. It's a smaller footprint, and spaced for distance, but the ambiance and comfort are still there. They are following mask/glove/noise level guidance. So I finally had the opportunity to experience the infamous Rooftop lounge/Restaurant of ASTRA and let my start of by saying , yes the ambiance of this place is remarkable. That we all cannot deny. Beautiful Rooftop set up with a stunning bar, great music, super cute sectionals to enjoy with your company/friends/family. But With time we've all learned that everything that shines isn't gold. Initially I was attending a really good friends wedding anniversary celebration, she had made reservations for 11 people. Upon our arrival, it was 6 of us including the person who made the reservations. There was a short line of people waiting to get in. We had our temperatures checked at the door and was told proceed inside. We informed the hostess that we had a party of 11 but we were ready to go in. She told us that she was gonna going to advise the door man to see if we can be seated. Then a tall caucasian man came to meet us and explained to us that until the complete party was there, we were not going to be seated. If we went up without the remaining party members they would have to come in as walk ins and will not be seated with us. I asked what was "a walk in" and he explained to me that anyone who walks in in without a reservation is a "walk in" and has to spend a minimum of $150. So we continued upstairs with only a group of six. Although the food took a pretty long time to arrive, especially the shrimp cocktail ( seriously, how long does it take to prepare a shrimp cocktail??? ..... literally waited over an hour) the food and the presentation was decent. The environment was a bit chaotic. The Place was extremely busy and the waiters seemed extremely overwhelmed by the amount of tables they were attending. They were so non stop that all food/cocktails/water we ordered took pretty darn long to get to us. ESPECIALLY, that shrimp cocktail. Our server did the best he could do, I wish I remembered his name but he definitely did his best to accommodate us. But I think the discrepancy came from the kitchen. I remember other servers bringing dishes no one ordered and asking if it belonged to anyone at our table. We tried to not let the chaotic service affect our ASSTRA experience, but who knew that by 10PM, everyone would be kicked out or basically escorted out the building by The city of Miami police. My friend couldn't even enjoy his steak that arrived no less than 5 minutes prior to the authorities crashing the ASTRA rooftop. I found it super unacceptable. We basically were told to take everything to go. So even though one of the Champaign bottles we ordered was open but untouched, they still tried to charge us for it and told us to take the open container to go. Horrible. They ended up removing it from the tab but I didn't like how persistent they were in trying to charge for the bottle. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, everyone is well aware that there is a 10 o'clock curfew. But it's not explained to you at the door that by 10 o'clock you will have to leave the building. I think that management has to step up their game and do a better job at informing guests on the situation. I highly believe if you limit the amount of guest attending ASTRA complications like this wouldn't occur. I'm giving two stars because I have had I nicer experience before but today's brunch was an absolute disappointment. We were seated under the sun (with many shaded tables available), when asked to switch our waitress said it was impossible. Once we asked a different server, she easily switched us. Once at the table it took about 40 minutes for a server to come and take our order. Our orders (6 plates of food) were all burnt. The mimosas were pre-mixed and tasted like pure orange juice and no champagne. ($28 per person for bottomless orange juice) Our waitress never came to check on us, we had to ask other servers to help us find our waitress. It took 45 after finishing our meals to get the checks, and that process was an absolute mess that lasted another 30 minutes. You would expect a place this pricey and nice to have the best service. A lovely rooftop, with a Miami Beach lounge vibe, but spread across 10,000 sq feet 3 stories up. Lots of greenery, cozy/intimate seating, a solid drink selection. There's a bar and an area to take in the city sights. Overall it's a very nice space. The menu and pricing suggest apps and grazing-- I'm personally not a fan of full-size entrees in a lounge setting anyway. During this covid time, spacing and health were well observed. We had our temperatures checked on the way up. Sadly the covid-related curfew curtails the late night that would normally be even more amazing a time to linger on the roof over drinks. We went for a friend's birthday for brunch and I don't know what bothered me more: how much it was, the bad service, the lackluster environment or the underwhelming food. I ordered the Baklava Pancakes and they were so stiff and dry, I had to keep asking for syrup. we ordered sangria for the table and it was incredibly watered down. We brought a cake and they charged us $25 for the extra plates; they made sure to let us know that they weren't in charge of cutting it or even singing happy birthday for the birthday girl. We also saw on social media that a violinist was coming for brunch (which I've experienced elsewhere, he's great!!!) and he didn't show. By the end, we were charged for drinks we didn't drink. We told our waiter and he said the manager said to leave it on the receipt. We asked for the manager and our waiter goes "oh he's not here" so thanks for lying! He ended up taking the drink off but still! What a pain the whole experience is. Fantastic experience while celebrating my husband's 40th. Kelly, the event sales manager was amazing. Very fast to assist me in coordinating my event. Jennifer, Stephanie, and the entire staff team were incredibly helpful. They took great care of us all night. Food was very good and fairly priced for the quantity received. The location is beautiful and well kept. My one suggestion would be to add directional signage as it was a bit hard to locate the elevators leading to the bar, but I understand that might be out of the establishment's hands.
