I purchased my first ever road bike from Brad at Astro Cycles- a Bianchi! He is so passionate about bikes and cycling that it is contagious! He also helped outfit me from head to toe with gear and he even let me know about a cycling group that I was able to learn to ride with. I went from thinking I would never cycle in a group to keeping up with a bunch of big guys at 21 MPH! Brad also introduced me to Sandra who helped me with a proper bike fitting to make my ride as comfortable and powerful as possible. Brad also helped me purchase two carbon foldable bikes for my parents for Christmas. The rest of the team at Astro Cycles is equally passionate and knowledgeable. I went to the Astro Cycle on U.S. I9 behind the Waffle House yesterday. Daniel my service tech assessed my repair situation with my bicycle and promptly gave me recommendations and price quote. I was happily in and out in under a hour. I must have luckily walked in before they were back logged with work orders. Daniel was welcoming and professional. His advice was pragmatic and geared to my intended usual use and activity I do with my bicycle. Two thumbs up in my book. read more

We were in an Air-BNB for a week and one of the bikes on the property ended up breaking while our son was riding it. This happened the day of the annual golf cart parade in Downtown New Port Richey. We drove the bike over to the shop but unfortunately they had closed that day to lead the bike portion of the parade. After visiting the bait store for a while my son noticed someone in the bike shop. They unlocked the door and invited us in. The owner took in our bike and offered free delivery back to our house when the bike was finished. New chain and derailleur and the bike was back up and running. Thanks Astro Cycles! PS. We paid for the repair out of our own pocket and the Air-BNB host ended up reimbursing us. read more

If zero was an option, I'd give it. If the owner is even present he's usually found sitting at the front so he won't be the one repairing your bike or QA supervision. The mechanics are young, inexperienced and amateurish in repair skill. The owner even admitted to me last year that he considers none of his mechanics to be experts, only himself- which makes what I wrote in the second sentence even more profound. The mechanic turnover rate is quite high from my experience, even their top guy at the Main St. location when they had one, a kid named Matt left for another job. The repair prices are much higher than other shops despite having terrible mechanics. The cost to install a self supplied tube for instance will be $25 as of a year ago and that's for a regular bike, not a electric. Last year, for at least a month and half to two months, I constantly suffered from mystery flats which are slowly deflating tubes, sometimes identifiable by a rider having successfully completed a ride, parking their bike for an extended period, maybe overnight, only to discover later that the tube has gone flat. After about a month, I realized that either I was extraordinarily unlucky or that there was something wrong with the rim. I told the kid mechanic at the U.S. 19 location to closely examine the rim before installing the brand new tube I provided. After twenty minutes he tells me the job was done, that nothing was wrong with the rim and the charge would be $25. After expressing my disappointment at the increasing cost of a tube install and reminding him that just seven months earlier it was just $10 for a front install, $15 for a back, if he was even employed there then that far back, I begrudgingly paid, left and successfully rode the six miles home. The next day I go out to the garage and discover another mystery flat. I fully inflated the tube knowing that sometimes these mystery flat tubes can hold air for some time, even allowing the rider to go miles in between pumps and decided to ride back to his shop and demand another inspection. I brought a small sized hand pump and rode back unsuccessfully because the pin sized hole widened as I rode but still managed to get there by riding on a flat and risking rim damage. I arrive to discover the owner, who I hadn't seen in over four months despite being nearly a weekly/bi-weekly customer and who now has longer hair and a full beard. I told him what happened the day before yet here I was with the same problem. He informs me that no one here but him should be considered an expert, sighed and told me with an annoyed tone of voice that it wouldn't ruin his day if I wanted a complimentary tube change. I turned it down but demanded a complimentary tube air fillup, got it, left and vowed to never come back. Not counting the cost of tube purchases, the install fees alone amounted to well over $100. I decided to walk everwhere for the next three weeks instead of going back to that shop, not getting the problem solved and getting my money legally stolen every week. I went to another bike shop and the mechanic told and showed me one minute after examining the rim that the problem was the totally deteriorated cotton rim strip which should've been rubber since it was a single-wall rim. A $5 dollar purchase and install. Well over $100 gone for lack of a bike mechanic's basic knowledge about two things. What a disgrace. Avoid Astro Cycle at all costs, which won't cost you much anyway because theirs are the highest despite the third rate work. read more
