STAY AWAY 'it'll be ready tomorrow' week after week after week only to have you wait an hour in front of his shop as he works on it 'finally completing' then when you vent your displeasure at his lack of care, customer service, basic hygiene he uses four letter words. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE THEY ARE LIARS, AND CON ARTISTS. TL;dr Purchased a used bike off the web, it needed some work like basic adjustment and the rear wheel needed some bearing work. Heard some okay things about OTE and decided out of the dozen bike shops in Dunedin I'd give it a try. FIRST WEEK OF MARCH...dropped the bike off on a Wednesday the owner said 'no problem it needs some basic work I'll have it ready in a couple days come back Friday.' FRIDAY FIRST WEEK OF MARCH.... came to pickup the bike the owner tells me with a pouty face 'Aww man I'm really sorry I've just been so busy I'll have it done soon! Give me the weekend and it'll be ready." so I come back Monday second week of March. And guess what.... The bike hadn't been touched he didn't remember me this visit I had to explain which one was mine what work was to be done to it because he had 'forgotten'. MIDDLE MARCH Florida closes entirely due to the pandemic. I try and call OTE bikes to get an update on store hours and on my bike... All calls lead to a voicemail which was 'full' bad sign. I go to the bike shop which is closed doesn't have any notes or info besides information on non essential stores operation by the police. So I leave my business card and ask for a call back. END OF MARCH.... No calls and checking the business driving by I do not see its open. Okay fair enough it's due to the closure. BEGINNING OF MAY, the owner has had in his possession my hike for two months... Surely after two months he has cleaned out any bikes in his shop needing repairs as there was NOTHING preventing him from sitting alone in his shop turning a wrench. FLORIDA REOPENS FIRST WEEK OF MAY, I again arrive on a Wednesday with bated anticipation... The bike shop is open and the owner is at the store front. I see my bike missing a handlebar grip (weird?) the owner puckers his face up this time remembering who I was but didn't remember what bike out of the dozens strewn around his filthy shop. I asked is my bike done... He gets a whiny tone going off on a long winded excuse after excuse of why he didn't do any work to any of the bikes and how he's going to work through the 'backlog' and my bike would be done in a couple days (gosh where did I hear this before?) so I smile and say 'okay I'll be back Friday no problem'. Even though this bike sat for two weeks before Florida shutdown... I was willing to be patient and understanding. COME BACK FRIDAY FIRST WEEK AFTER FLORIDA REOPENS, I ask where's my bike... He tells me it hasn't been worked on gave me the same lame excuse he gave a week ago and months prior. This time I tell him it's enough please get it done and soon. I give him another full week waiting until the following Friday... I arrive to his shop at 1pm because he doesn't crawl into his store until noon thirty. And GUESS WHAT! the bike still hasn't been finished it had 'some' work done. He tells me for sure if I give him the weekend Monday it'll be ready for pickup! Woo-hoo so excited now waiting another 48 hours and I arrive to OTE bike store Monday afternoon again... And like a broken record THE BIKE IS STILL NOT FINISHED ITS STILL MISSING A HANDLE BAR GRIP. I'm not happy at this point beyond displeased with the lack of care I tell him it needs to be done this is ridiculous I've waited nearly a month not including the time for Florida closure. He said come back Saturday and it will be done 100% no problem he repeatedly said sorry like that made any difference at this point. SATURDAY MAY 16TH I arrive at 12:45pm to get my bike the owner is just opened telling me it still needs some work come back 30mins I come back he charges me for labor no parts. And replaces my grips with some he pulled off a ratty bike in the back. Then has the nerve to call me a d k head. /bye read more

They advertise bike rentals on their website but when arrived, found out they don't. I'd recommend calling ahead.

*****Potential customers BEWARE****** If I could give less than a 1 star review, this place and it's owner deserves it. My girlfriend first went to this bicycle shop to get parts to repair a bicycle wheel. She was told that the parts were unavailable and she would have to purchase an entire wheel instead. Then she was told that they had a used beach cruiser bicycle available for $45. So instead of repairing her beach cruiser, she decided to just buy the used bicycle the shop had for sale. After purchasing the bicycle, she was told that he(the store owner) needed to get it ready for her and he would have the bicycle ready to pickup the next day. She then called the next afternoon, to check on it and was told it was not ready. So the next day, the store owner calls to inform her that her bicycle was ready and that she needed to come pick it up. This call was made at 4:45pm and he was closing early at 5pm. So, he expected her to get up there to pickup her bicycle, within 15mins of calling. So, she rushed up there and picked up the bicycle. What seemed kinda strange at first, made perfect sense the next morning. The next morning, both tires were completely flat. He wanted her to pickup the bicycle at the end of the day, just so she couldn't come back because of the leaking tires/tubes. Since the store was closed the next day, she went up to the shop 2 days later. She was told he didn't have the correct size tubes in stock and he would have them the next day. She was unable to get there that next day but, went up the day after that. She was again told he didn't have the tubes, because he had sold them already. After getting the run-around from OTC Bicycles, we decided to purchase new tubes from another bicycle shop. After replacing both tubes, she went for a short ride through our neighborhood. During this first ride, the chain then failed because of deterioration. It literally snapped into pieces. The following day she attempted to talk to the owner of OTC but, once again the shop was closed early and a note was on the door, stating that the owner had closed early and went home because he wasn't feeling well. Instead of even trying to purchase a replacement chain from PTC, we purchased one online. Today, while walking out of the Dollar General, that is next door to the bicycle shop, she spoke to the owner of the bicycle shop. He attempted to purchase the bicycle back, after being told about all the parts that had been replaced. He offered her the $45 back, even though he was well aware the replacement parts cost nearly that much. So, after being lied to about the replacement parts for a wheel, he then sold her a bicycle for $45, that needed almost $45 in parts. Worst part is I found the parts for the original bicycle wheel for less than $10 and it is now fixed. The owner of the store never once kept his word. He always has some excuse to blame. He is a shady business owner and should NOT be trusted. Potential customers BEWARE! read more

**Not even worth one star** I used to love this place, nice guys and great customer service. Now? Forget it. I dropped my bike off a month ago for just a cleaning and tune-up. Todd said it would be a few days. No problem. 3 weeks went by. I tried to call him several times but his phone wasn't working. Drove over once, store closed. Went back last Friday, still not done (phone still not working). He promised it by noon on Saturday. I gave him a few extra days just to be sure. Went back today, Tuesday, and it STILL wasn't done, 4 weeks later, jammed against a wall with a million other bikes waiting for service. I just took it home and won't be going back. I don't know what's happened there but this guy is way too busy and disorganized. Find another bike shop. read more

We stopped in as our problem child AKA mountain bike was creaking and cracking after only a few miles. Yes, we know it wasn't assembled by a bike expert. And thank you for not making us feel bad about it. So, we left it in their capable hands to fine tune for - wait for it - $30!!!! Holy amazing place. The guys were kind and professional. Asked if it would be ok for them to keep it a couple of days as this is their busy season. It took longer than their anticipated 2 day turn around so I dropped of my bike so they could work on it while I was out of town. Thank you for not raking me over the coals. When you find a shop who likes what they do and they don't take both your arms and legs to do it, we will return and we will tell everyone who needs a fine tune to go here. They do rent bicycles. There are tons of old school bikes handing from the ceiling. Others out front. One was being assembled on the sidewalk (store is small and what space they do have is full of bikes.) A read more

The owner of this shop has a great assortment of bikes and accessories. The service is outstanding with prices that are very competitive. These guys are phenomenal! My KHS XC bike had been stolen and returned in pieces with a couple pieces missing. Another shop had quoted me nearly $200 to get it up and running. Took it here and they had me out for under $70! But beyond that their customer service is amazing. The first time I stopped in to get pricing for a tube replacement. Owner was super nice. Went back two weeks later to get tire fixed. His staff guy offered to do it then and there. That would have been awesome. But after a few minutes of conversation, I decided I wanted a new handlebars. This is Tuesday 5/2. Said would be ready by Friday. They would call me when to pick up that day, due to me wanting to get it so that I could take on my trip. No word. So, went without it. According to my phone records I called 6 times to find out when would be ready. Couldn't leave message. Mailbox full, it said. Went today, Tuesday 5/9. Not done. Not even the tires. To be fair, they did offer to at least fix the tire, if I wanted to wait. I declined and requested by bike to go elsewhere. As the Owner was wheeling my bike out of the store, I tried to explain why I wasn't happy. He said they have been just too busy. He even stated, you can only leave a message DURING business hours. I said it was a poor way to do business. His reply...Well we are SO busy it must be good for everyone else. WOW. So, my measly tire and handlebars were not worth a phone call. Now another bike Shop has my business and the purchase of another bike. The only reason I'm giving it two stars, is they were nice the first two times I visited. read more

We stopped by OTE to rent bikes for the afternoon. The shop is hard to find, but it's there right next to the Dollar Store The guys in the shop were nice and helpful and gave us some great advice on how and where to spend the afternoon. The ride up the Causeway to Honeymoon Island was about 10 minutes and pretty easy. The rates were inexpensive and you are allowed to return the bikes after hours. Best part, I left my had in the basket on the bike, and the guys saved it for me for a friend to go pick it up. read more

I came in for some help with my old Schwinn and the friendly guys at OTE spent time finding an old seatpost to fit my bike. The OTE guys took really went out of their way to make sure I was able to get going with a smile on my face. Went to OTE bike shop to order a seat back for a recumbent Sun trike. Younger man took my name and number, and gave me an estimate cost. After not hearing from them for 10 days, I went back and was told by an older man that he had called and talked to me, and it didn't sound like I was going to buy the recumbent and wouldn't want the seat. I told him that he hadn't talked to me, and that I had a recumbent and wanted a seat. He said, no problem, it would be ordered and delivered the next day, and he would call when it was ready. After 4 days and no call, I went to another bike shop, which ordered my seat and got it delivered in one day. Glad to see some people get good service there. They won't be seeing me again. read more

Have been a customer of Ote Bikes since 2011 when I moved to Dunedin. Found Todd (owner) and Jessie (who has since left) to be attentive, friendly and very very professional. They really know bikes! Not only that but the cost of things, including tuneups, is extremely fair. I do know that since Jessie left Todd has on occasion gotten behind on repairs to bikes that have been brought in, but he will do his best, especially if it is an emergency (a friend brought a bike over to get a new tube and tire today and was handled immediately). I don't like to write bad reviews and I struggled to write this... I called the shop and it was very hard to get Todd on the phone, but I kept trying, finally bought a used bike from him and I absolutely love the bicycle. However, when I bought it I felt that the back tire was not right, he mentioned it was fine, it was that the seat post that has a shock absorbing post and just felt that way. Well I blew the tire in 2 days, called him over 20 times and he never picks up the phone. When buying the bicycle he said he'd be available and take care of anything that went wrong. A few days later I called to let him know that I blew the tire, he said that he was closed, it was a Sunday, he'd come in especially for me the following day at 930am. CALLED 5 TIMES AND NO ANSWER, WELL NOW MY SHOP IS KAFE RACER IN DT DUNEDIN!!! Top notch service and they will get all of my bicycle business/ referrals. My cousin was attempting to climb the bridge over I19 on the Pinellas Bike Trail when the derailer on his bike exploded. Luckily the OTE Bike Shop was a close walk away. We all walked our bikes over to the shop and although they were very busy, they had a new derailer on our bike and we were back on our way in less than a half hour. The young kid who worked on the bike was a wizard. There was an electric bike ahead of us that he fixed in 5 minutes and I was amazed how knowledgeable and quick he was. Don't even try and rent from these people. We have called them since Tuesday this week and we were told to call back Friday to reserve for Saturday. Continued to call and got no answer. A friend stopped in to see what the deal was and the man was EXTREMELY RUDE. First off, told her they were all rented (so you can't pick up the phone?), and then proceeded to tell her she couldn't bring her stroller WITH HER BABY IN IT into the store. My wife and I bought a new 3 wheel bike about a year ago. The bike immediately after delivery started squicking with every turn of the pedal. Several personal visits to the shop asking for a fix were met with repeated promises without getting it done. Being a three wheel bike, we cannot get it to the shop. It does not fit into our car. The owner repeatedlt promised to come to our home to perform the needed repairs. He never showed and never called us. We also telephoned about a dozen different times to no avail. So now, our bike sits in the garage unusable with leaking bike tires. Now we cannot leave messages because his message system is and has been full for some time. Unfortunately there is not an option to give 0 stars or I would. My 70 year old mother purchased a used bicycle from this shop - she gave him $300 cash and told him she would pick it up on the weekend. My husband and I went to pick it up that weekend and he was closed due to illness and stayed closed through Monday. My mother stopped by to find out what was going on (because his store phone was not working at the time)and he told her he was getting over the flu - this was when covid just started ramping up. My mother who has survived cancer twice and is 70 let him know she was concerned about taking the bike and asked if he could hold it. He agreed. Right after that stay at home orders were put in place and my mother assumed he was closed as he wasn't an essential business. My husband went by about a month or so later to see if he was open so could pick it up. The owner said he sold the bike to someone else and would not be issuing any refund - it was a storage fee. He had my mother's number and never called her to let her know she needed to come get it etc. I called also explaining my mother's age and her previous cancer as to why she hadn't been up to the store and he basically said - not my problem. It is despicable to take advantage of anyone but especially and elderly woman on a fixed income. Buyer beware! read more

I was at OTE today and bought a new Hydrid Comfort bike. I went today knowing I would buy a bike from the owner because he is knowledgeable and FAIR and because my friend bought a bike from him not too long ago and I was impressed with the service she received. I wasn't surprised by the great service or selection. I wasn't surprised by the price or the willingness to spend time with me answering my very novice questions. The owner was very patient. I was even more impressed that as I was looking and shopping that he was so professional and courteous to the CRAZY customers going in his store. One customer didn't want to pay for the services his wife had asked for when she dropped the bike off for a tune up, one lady wanted 40$ off 2 USED youth bikes and wanted a used kick stand, water holders, and other discounts for the 2 bikes. One guy wanted the owner to buy back 2 "barely used" bikes he bought for his granddaughters for the summer. REALLY? This owner goes above and beyond for his customers, kuddos. read more
