This review is for the Jittery Joe's coffee section of ASW. Super friendly Alison made my first official cafe visit to Atlanta an absolutely joy. Love this place! Excellent for a pre-drink, after-dinner, or post-drink, as they only have popcorn and cookies to eat. They have amazing cocktails and a great selection of sippers. You can get a tasting or tasting pours if you want to try a few things. If you do, I recommend having at least two of their bourbons (Fiddler's Antique and Hunker), one rye (toasted for me), and one clear spirit (I prefer vodka; hubby, gin) if you can mix your liquor. I've been here a few times and love their cocktails. On my last visit I was craving a Whisky Smash. The special was a Huckleberry Whisky Smash which hit the spot. My Mom ordered the Peach Mule with vodka. Loved my experience at ASW Battery. I went to buy a bottle and stayed for a cocktails and great conversation. A friend let me sample their ASW Fiddle Encore Maple. It was delicious. I had to have my own bottle. I called and had a bottle placed on hold since only 7 left. My bag was waiting with my name on it. We went to the bar and tried some cocktails. [[HIGHLIGHT]]So this is a really nice spot that seems like it's a little bit out of place but it fits very well with the battery area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The battery itself is a bunch of different shops and bars and restaurants that are circling around the ball stadium. This one is in a strip mall area like everything else, and it has a good look on the outside. There's places for you to sit outside but that's probably because they have so much traffic because of the battery area in general and because of the braves. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is heavily wooded and a little bit rustic but it looks good. It reminds you of barrels which is very befitting because it's a distillery.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You'll be greeted very nicely, or at least I was. You can look around and see the bar area and some other places where there are seats at, as well as the place where they do the distilling. The menu is not super vast but it's what you would expect from a distillery considering the things that they distill on site. I stuck with a dark-skinned liquor, but they have some light skin liquor options as well. I got an old fashioned, I feel like that's just a pivotal drink when it comes to whiskey and bourbon so if you get that wrong that I don't trust anything else. But it was actually a pretty good drink. I would go back, It was a pretty decent spot. If you want a fully expansive menu, this may not be for you. But if you want to focus on something specific and homegrown, this might be a place to try. read more

Just up the way from Truist Park, home of the Braves. It's my first exposure to ASW, my tipsy cousin, Billy, is like family here. It was our mission to meet Maggie, the barkeep. It turns out that Jack was the most interesting part of our visit. This guy knows everything! Best to order a flight, unless of course you're seasoned and already have your go to. Stopped by this location and did a whiskey tasting. The young lady at the bar that assisted me was awesome. For the tasting you got to choose 4 whiskies from their menu. I went along with the recommendations of the bartender. I loved the set up. Each choice had a card with its name and description I really liked 2 out of the 4. You can purchase a bottle your favorite ones. They do not prepare food here but you can purchase packaged snacks to enjoy. They also do not accept cash for payment only for tips. read more

My boyfriend wanted some coffee that was unique and we saw on their outside menu that they had some options of interest. I thought the place only served beer but to my surprise they had quite a selection. I ordered a tea based cocktail which was made very well with fresh ingredients. My boyfriend ordered a coffee cocktail that he thought was okay. The cup started melting and we had to drink it fast to not spill it on ourselves or every where. We already walked away from the place and didn't want to go all the way back. He also said the flavor was a bit bitter as if the cocktail ingredients weren't mixed well together or not complimenting each other. ASW Distillery at the Battery is a welcome addition to all the family restaurants and massive bars that line the streets outside of the stadium. I am not knocking those places, but ASW provides a smaller, relaxing and slower paced spot to hang and enjoy a drink and your company. This tasting room and distillery is the third space for ASW who also have locations in the West End and Buckhead. The tasting room portion is dedicated to whiskey, while the distillery here is dedicated to their gin/vodka varieties. This ASW is located on a corner in the heart of the Battery and features a spacious tasting room outfitted with a communal table, bar seating, several two and four tops tables, a lounge area and a small patio with its own dedicated bar. It is small, yet spacious and perfectly laid out to allow the flow of folks in and out without disturbing the people hanging at the bar or tables. Décor wise they have it outfitted with all baseball stuff, as you would expect. But it is not cheesy baseball stuff. They have nice jerseys, wooden bats, baseballs and even a large scoreboard. It is a really well put together space that definitely lends itself to sitting back and relaxing with a cocktail in hand. While they focus on whiskey for obvious reasons, they do have a well stocked bar and several other options for you if that isn't your cup of whisk-tea (see what I did there?). While I am not a big straight whiskey guy, I am a boozy slushee type of guy, so that is exactly what I enjoyed this latest visit in. They had two varieties, which they rotate, pina colada and bourbon mule. Bourbon mule was the absolute winner and perfection on a hot Friday afternoon at the Battery! Service was stellar and on point. The bartender was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly to both of us. We were unsure what we would enjoy, so he helped us out and ultimately came in clutch with the slushee recommendation! Overall, ASW is slowly becoming a favorite spot of ours. We live pretty close to the Battery, so to be able to swing in and grab a slushee, hang in the comfy chairs or on the patio while being in the middle of the action without actually feeling like you are in the middle of it is a huge win for us. This is the third of three locations of ASW around Atlanta. They are arguably my favorite local bourbon in Atlanta (although there are some close contenders) I stopped in for a night cap cocktail with a buddy after dinner around the Battery. You can get flights of their spirits or have the "second best" old fashioned experience. I've never had a bad product from them. Their heartwood is especially good (though significantly more expensive) The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and I will keep coming back (and/or buying in-store) There is parking all around the Battery that is free for the first 3 hours. read more

First thing to know is that this (like many places surrounding it) is 100% tourist bait for Braves games. So don't expect some premier level of excellence. They have a selection of mixed drinks that the typical tourist is going to find desirable but honestly I thought were poorly mixed with too much sugar to let the alcohol shine through. Also, be warned that they do not accept money but rather they require credit cards in order to settle the bill [the bartender had the audacity to look at me like I was the moron for thinking they accepted money] So the mixed drinks and service are fairly subpar, even for the fairly low expectations I have for a tourist spot outside an MLB stadium. But how is the whiskey? I took home a bottle of Fiddler Cask Strength and it's actually a good high proof wheated bourbon, and I plan to find some more of their bottles to try. So don't let the tourist storefront put you off from the product. read more

We've been wanting to come try the new ASW at the battery for a while and finally got the chance over the holidays. It was a quite Wednesday evening so there was plenty of space to spread out. The bartenders were very nice and attentive, space is fun and clean, and drinks were high quality and fairly priced. There were also some board games you could play if interested which was a fun touch. Overall, we had a great time and will definitely be back. 4 stars only because I was so disappointed with the flight I ordered. It consisted of the vodka that pretty much tasted like rubbing alcohol, gin was better but still not great. We also had the fiddler heartland and the resurgence and sadly all fell short. We are huge fans of ASW so this was a huge disappointment. We weren't able to sample the bottle we pre-purchased due to tastings not offered until weeks later. I am sure our local spirits store will have it to purchase. I had a bourbon and lemonade but they had a nice selection of crafted cocktails as well bourbons & whiskeys. My brother in law got a flight and as a bourbon connoisseur, he thoroughly enjoyed it! Another cool spot at the Battery, esp for whiskey lovers. We came in after a day game for a couple drinks and place was not very busy. Not a full service place by any means and you order drinks and snacks at the bar and there's also a cashier at the front for btls, glassware and other swag. It was nice to be able to try some more of the offerings and there's even a bar outside serving up pours. Food wise there aren't a ton of offerings but we grabbed a few diff cheeses and meats to make our own charcuterie board essentially. Def worth checking out. read more

Walking through the battery, I happened upon the word "Distillery", and being a Whiskey fan, I had to stop in for two fingers. My girlfriend wanted a Mule, and really wanted a peach mule, so the bartender whipped something together off-menu that my girlfriend absolutely loved. I had the Resurgens Rye, which I will absolutely buy a bottle of as it was a very good Rye. We were so excited to bring our frind here for his birthday and do a tasting. The wait staff, if you can call them that, was so rude. There was no one in the place, it took over 3 minutes for them to even make eye contact. Once we did, they weren't helpful or nice. They acted like it was a pain to serve us. Once we ordered, they never aksed us if we wanted anything else or if we liked it or offer any knowledge about the flight. Good news...they saved us tons of money. We ended up sharing a flight and leaving. We will never go back! read more
