Tonight, my boys and I made our way into Superica at The Battery before heading to the Braves game, and it turned out to be a great stop for dinner. We were greeted at our table by Deja, who was incredibly welcoming and full of energy--she really set the tone for the experience. My boys are usually picky eaters, but she nailed their orders on the first try without any confusion, which is no small feat. As for me, I went with the nachos topped with beef and beans, and they were fantastic. The chips were crispy and held up perfectly under all the toppings--ground beef, cheese, and all the good stuff. It would've made any "master chef" proud. The salsas deserve their own mention. I honestly can't say enough about them. The little reddish salsa was my favorite, but the warm salsa was also excellent--full of flavor and a nice twist compared to the usual cold options. We also added a side of queso, because let's be honest, you can't go wrong with cheese dip. To start off our meal, we received the warm red and the green salsa with absolutely delicious tortilla chips - and ate way too much of all of that along with our guacamole appetizer. For entrees, two of us had the chicken fajitas which were delicious and came with everything you would want - excellent guac, queso, pico, rice, and beans. I've had this place on my list of restaurants to try for a while, so when friends had it as an optional dinner spot to meet up at, I jumped at the chance. The ambiance is very Tex-Mex. It's casual but trendy, and a definite good place for friends to meet up. They brought us chips and salsas on a little lazy Susan which was cool. The smoky salsa is served warm which I really enjoyed and the green salsa was addictive. The supposed habanero in the bottle had distant habanero flavor but zero spice. As someone who loves habanero salsa, this was a little disappointing. The fact they serve it in a squeeze bottle as if diners will only be able to handle a drop or two is honestly laughable. However, the chips and other salsas were great. For my meal, I got the cheese enchiladas. I finished my plate! It was really yummy. My only critique is I wish the cheese had been meltier and gooeyer. My husband got the shrimp tacos and they were incredible (sorry I didn't get a picture!). Our friends were happy with their choices as well. The menu said all entrees were supposed to come with rice and beans, but we were only brought 2 each for our table of 4 as "for the table." This confused me and I guess we should've advocated better. One friend who only wanted rice and no beans passed the rice and beans around that were sat next to me and asked our waitress for more rice and beans. However, they brought just one more of each and said friend immediately placed it next to her husband who already had the other beans near him (lol!). I specifically said "everything!" and pointed to the rice and beans when I ordered my meal, so this was very odd to me bringing just two initially "for the table." I felt awkward about asking for my rice and beans back so I just stayed quiet. Had they brought everyone their own as we were supposed to receive, all would've been great. Very weird but again, I should've spoken up. Our waitress was nice over all, but yeah. All in all, a fun spot that has other locations around town! Me and my friends went to Chris Brown concert this past weekend. Reservations were made for 4:15 on that Saturday. Due to the high volume of people who were concert goers like us the place was already crowded. We had to wait about 15 minutes before we could be seated. Once we were seated, the server Jasmine brought out chips and three types of salsa. I chose to get the fried fish tacos one of my friends got the Al Pastor Tacos and another got the shrimp tacos. In the age of upscale Tex-mex charging for chips and salsa, you get 2 salsas and 2 sauces with chips at no charge. Steak is perfectly seasoned and comes out at the temperature you ordered it, even on fajitas. If you get a chance try the salsa macha, think chile oil, but Tex-Mex. So good. I am giving it three stars based on a good and bad experience. Both times the service was slow, which really surprises for weekday lunches, although at my most recent my server dropped the ball in terms of actual service, for example, by not checking on drinks and having to flag her for to go boxes. I ordered the chicken tacos the first time which were good as expected, veggie tamales the second time which were not good and did not match the description on the menu. The veggie tamales had potatoes in them and sour cream on it, neither of which I liked or were on the menu description. Started with Skinny Margarita, I must say it was one of the better skinny rita's i have had. Latoya was our server and she was great. She had a sense of humor and interacted well with us. Boy do I love mexican food. I had been to Superica a hand full of times while I lived in Atlanta, but this was my first trip back. On this visit I was solo, so I sat at the bar. I ordered queso and some chicken nachos with a spicy margarita. Let me tell you, everything was divine. I was glad I decided to treat myself. The nachos came out plated as about 8 individually topped nachos with sour cream, guac and jalapeños. I asked for some grilled onions to add a little zing to my order. I topped these nachos with the good and dipped them in the queso. Sensational combination! The swrvice was attentive, the drink did the trick and their hot sauce was tasty.
