They will help set up with the most pleasant behavior. Once their service stops working, GL getting anyone to fix it. Youre on customer service for a while and no tech to help. The phone will cut off, and you'd have to start all over as though it was the first time you've called again. Theres no tracking numbers or follow ups. Technicians are scheduled but nobody shows up. After my experience, we have cancelled everything and will never go back. They incorrectly charged me for 6 months of billing ($277 worth!). When I called back more than a month later to check on the refund, they transferred me 5 times, and when I got to the "head manager", she was extremely rude. Absolute disrespect and total mistreatment of a loyal customer, like me. I've been with your company for about 20 years and did not deserve such a treatment from your customer service. Terrible and disgusting experience provided by your representative. To give a bit of context, my dad's phone started to display "No SIM available" while he was on the road to a different state, as a truck driver. He was able to make a short phone calls on a SOS mode, and he asked me, his daughter, to help him with this issue because he needed his phone for delivery location, etc. I contacted Customer Support via a phone call. The waiting time was 50+ minutes! Then I decided to go online and use the Chat Now option. I got to a representative faster that way and we started (!) to resolve the problem... I was able to get the special codes from my father's phone, that were required for a representative to work on a sim-Card. I told a representative, that my father is a truck driver currently driving to his first delivery location, currently on the road, trying to read my messages on what to send me, where to call, etc. After providing these EID, IMEI, IMEI2, and MEID numbers, the representative assures me that he is working on fixing this issue and the next step is "to tell your father to activate the sim-Card". I keep on messaging my dad, calling my dad, but his phone was not responsive any more and none of my messages or phone calls were delivered. May dad previously mentioned that he could call us for a minute after he restarts the phone. But I waited for 2 hours, messaged him everywhere, on Viber, Instagram, Facebook... No response. What a shame, to tell your customer that you are going to fix the issue (install a new sim-Card) , knowing and being aware and told by me that my father is on the road at the moment, with no Wi-Fi, etc. travelling to a different state... The second that the representative installed a new Sim Card, my dad's phone stopped working completely and we lost all the tiny bit of connection we had before. What a shame! Working for ATT as a representative, you should have been trained to know that the second you install a new sim-Card, the phone will not work without activation! and that activation step NEEDS wifi, which is not an option when you are on the Road!!!! All I was told by two representatives, was that my dad needs to activate the sim card before he can use his phone again and they kept on telling me over and over to tell your dad to activate the sim-Card. But HOW CAN I TELL MY DAD TO ACTIVATE IT if you already reset his phone without telling me that I will lose ANY connection to him that very second??? he was solo driving and there is no one else to get a hold of him!!! What an idiotic response by a representative, who previously asked me to obtain EID, IMEI, IMEI2, and MEID numbers to work on my dad's phone , but were not able to activate that freaking sim-Card through your computer system, considering the fact, that you were speaking to a Primary Account Holder who got you a permission to work on my father's phone! I should have been WARNED that the second the new sim-Card will be installed, I WON'T BE ABLE to reach my dad at all. I could have tried my best to explain to my dad what to expect, what to do next, how to activate that sim-Card while his phone STILL WORKED SOMEHOW even for a minute on a SOS mode, before his phone went blank the second you were able to press a button on your screen to reset his sim-Card , but were not able to press another button to activate it!!!! I get it, even if there is absolutely no way for you to activate the new sim-Card, why the hell you did not mention that to me to not do it that way until the WIFI is found or my dad returns home from his trip????? we could leave the things as they were, but at least there will be some way of communication!!!!!! i should have been INFORMED about that and it is not me, who should know this stuff, it is YOU, who should have been trained to do things properly and to actually LISTEN to your customer needs!!!!! For two years, I've had a business line with AT&T that has not worked. It's been the most unbearable situation. I've not been able to make any calls out or receive any calls. I recently within the last 20 days purchased a business cellular phone that I asked them not to send to my office. They sent it anyway, and I recently called in and they change my password and said I have to go into the office, the worst I've ever had in my life has been with AT&T. When you do manage to get through, the representatives are often difficult to understand and consistently fail to resolve issues effectively. When I moved, I physically took the box back to AT&T before moving. They wouldn't accept their own box back it had to come in by mail. So I mailed it. And what do you know, they claimed they didnt get it and tried to charge 260 for their box they refused to accept in person. I was with AT&T for over 30 years. Looking back, I have no idea why. I tolerated the occasional annoyance, assuming all carriers were equally bad, and chose to stick with the devil I knew. That was a mistake. The moment I finally had to contact AT&T for something important, it became crystal clear: this is a company with no integrity, no respect for its customers, and no interest in transparency. Their customer service is abysmal. Their billing practices are deceptive. Their website is intentionally misleading, especially when trying to remove a device from your plan -- a process designed to quietly keep charging you long after the device is off your account. They won't offer you better rates or newer plans unless you find and demand them yourself. If you don't, they'll happily keep you overpaying for years. All of that, and I still had spotty coverage at both home and work. I finally switched to Verizon. While they're far from perfect, the difference is night and day. I've tried calling to disconnect services 6 times already and keep getting looped back into their phone tree. Never call AT&T. I called to get internet service. I was told they could provide AT&T Air. I gave them every piece of information they asked for including my address, which was repeated to me numerous times. I placed the order. When the order detail arrived, the service address showed a Texas location. I'm in Indiana. I called AT&T immediately. They had to cancel the order and start over. I specifically asked if the delivery of the equipment woulf be canceled and the rep said yes. They searched again for internet service for me and I was told service was not provided at my location. I reiterated that my address was found the day before. Not this time. I explained that a neighbor in my complex has been using AT&T for 8 years. His apartment is about 50 yards away. Two others got AT&T internet in August. I kept being told no service was provided here. I asked why others have it. I was told that perhaps the internet system is full. WHAT? Now to top things off, they did not cancel the equipment delivery and it is arriving today. I called UPS and was told they couldn't contact a driver when a package is out for delivery. My phone service is fair...about the same as anyone else's. The FirstNet discount is pretty good. Now the bad...don't even try the internet air. It maybe decent in some areas but not in rural places. The WORST part is trying to connect...which is a pain in the butt and NOT a simple process for FirstNet members. The customer service barely speak English and trying to understand their banter with a loud party going on in the background was unprofessional and ridiculous. And if you're trying to return, it's still NOT simple. We signed up with AT&T last year. The person signing us up lost half our contacts. He reversed my phone with my wife's. He supposedly set up our account for auto payment. After a month, auto payment failed. I tried to use the AT&T app to fix the auto payment, but it was unusable. I called AT&T to fix it over the phone. They charged me $5.00 to talk to a person. This person was some help, but our ability to understand each other was difficult. He/she did not speak English well. I was assured that now the bill would be automatically paid. This happened 2 months in a row. Finally, we went to another AT&T store (a corporate store). They tried to fix our account and did manage to fix my app. After taking an automatic payment in January 2026, the account stated the card i was using was no good and could not be used to pay an additional amount of money. Note, they kept the first amount. I called up to talk to a human to determine the problem. Again, we had trouble communicating. So my wife attempted to talk to this individual. Four hours and $5.00 later They said we would have to pay all future payments at the store. We went in to try to work things out, but even the corporate store could not fix our ability to pay automatically. I was given an AT&T fraud number to call to fix our account. Called it and they said wait 2 or 3 days and then i could setup my account! Not even remotely! Today, we went to the corporate AT&T to pay our bill and give AT&T one last chance to fix our account! I had two phone lines with AT&T thru May 2024 or so I thought. When I switched to Verizon in May 2024 they were supposed to cut off the AT&T line but didn't so that was on them. But I finally figured out that I was being billed for a phone that wasn't in use because I had AT&T Wi-Fi for about the same price so I didn't catch it for a while; so I called AT&T and was on the phone for two hours and they finally gave me a credit for six months for $401, so I think it's resolved. Then today I get an email from AT&T saying I immediately owe them the **final bill for $401** which is BS because it's supposed to be a credit!! I don't know what store the over the phone customer service reps work from they got the right one today. I placed a call to customer service because my internet was not connecting. I spoke to a gentleman named Ariel, I explained to him I went through the steps of troubleshooting my internet with the on line service, which could not fix the problem, it sent me a link, The link would not access because of possible threats. He said to me what's wrong you don't have enough data. I responded I have more than enough data. He hung up on me. I waited 5 minutes to see if he would call back thinking the call had dropped. No return call. I placed a second call and spoke with a young lady named Tayone who was very apologetic for her coworkers behavior and said she would transfer for me to tech support, because she wasn't able to help me. Tayone transferred me to a tech named Adam who had me to re troubleshoot the internet and it still didn't work. That's where things went left, I explained to Adam everything in my house workers off the internet and I needed someone to come out today. He goes on to tell me about another customer who lost service who works from home. That is not my problem, my problem is my service not working. He then says well what do I want him to do, I'm calling at the end of the day. He could give me an appointment between 12 & 4 tomorrow Aug. 31 between 12 & 4 I explained to him that will not work, he says ole well that's not his problem. I ask to be transferred to his supervisor Frank. I explained to Frank what had occurred with both Ariel and Frank , he assured me disciplinary action would be taken on both, and understood my frustration. After being on the phone with Frank for about 20 minutes he was able to get my internet back up and running. Thank you both Frank and Tayone for the great customer service. Ariel and Adam might need to go be retained in customer service. I'm giving Frank and Tayone 5 stars and Ariel and Adam 1 star. Which is why they are receiving a 3 star rating. read more

My land line went dead so i called AT&T. They recommended me to upgrade to "phone advance" so i agreed. They sent me the console to plug my phone in. I still could not receive calls and my alarm system was not hooked into it. I called customer service and they scheduled me for 3 appointments (10/7, 10/9 and 10/17) and they DID NOT SHOW UP FOR A SINGLE ONE!!!! It was such a joke by the third appointment. I am having the most difficult time switching from Verizon to ATT prepaid wireless. I'm currently without any phone service because ATT will not complete the transaction without an ID verification. AT&T talked mne into a ISP solution using a modem they provided and a broadband. The system was so slow it was unuseable but when I tred to cancel they said I agreed to a year. So I waited and paid for a year, AT the end of the year, I tried to cancel but was forced to cancel online andf they kept rejecting my attempt to cancel saying I filled out the form correctly. I was near able to get a person to assist with canceling the service. Finally I was able to cancel and not they are claiming I owe them $3200. They have never explained what the charge is for and I ask for a review and they just say I owe $3200. For a business such as AT&T to supply and recommend a service that is unuseable a then try to over charge is a sign they thik they are big enough they do not have to cater to their customers they can do what they want. October & November: My bill increased instead of staying the same. After more than 20 calls and chats, multiple reps reassured me it would be adjusted. It never was. November 18: I filed a fraud claim with AT&T's Global Fraud Management team. They confirmed receipt--only to cancel my claim a month later with no explanation. December - February: Despite more calls and more promises, my bill skyrocketed to $286.77. AT&T still charged me for a fraudulent order they had already admitted should have been canceled. AT&T's fraud protection is a complete failure. They close cases without resolution, refuse to let customers speak directly with fraud specialists, and tell customer service agents there's "nothing they can do." When I asked about canceling my account, I was told I'd still be forced to pay for the fraudulent phone I never ordered. I've had to fight for months just to get my bill adjusted, and AT&T continues to make this as difficult as possible. If you have AT&T, check your bill carefully every month. If you spot unauthorized charges, don't count on AT&T to fix it. File complaints with the FCC and BBB immediately, and don't let them trap you with fraudulent charges. My home burned down in the Woolsey Fire 7 years ago. I rebuilt but now I have difficulty getting texts and some phone calls. I have complained to FCC and an AT&T executive contacted me and graciously sent me a free booster. Still some texts do not come in so my business cannot deal with some sites because nowadays you need to get a security code. We believe that AT&T did not replace all of the cell towers here but they claim the fact that my neighbors have awful service and everytime a car drives on our road it drops the phone is only because now the technology is so advanced. It's been 7 years since the Woolsey Fire here and still it is very difficult to do business when the phone service is so spotty and texts sometimes work and sometimes not. Some friends and businesses I deal with tell me they tried to call or text and nothing works to reach me. So I feel that we pay for service here but get only bare minimum service now. Guess once the area has burned down no cell or internet or cable business wants to restore their lines these days. So now I pity the Eton and Palisades victims who lost their homes and have the Mayor tell them all will be replaced and their lives will go back to normal. I love Target, but I cannot believe they allow AT&T to sell services at their locations. I've always walked past outside representatives, politely declining their offers about internet, cell, or cable. But at Target, I got pulled in. I was frustrated with my current provider constantly raising rates, so I decided to see what AT&T could do. The salesperson was extremely nice and very skilled at their job but misled me on several key points. They promised I'd receive over $300 in Target gift cards for switching--I only got $50, followed by an "I'm sorry" after the contract was signed. With the holidays around the corner, that was disappointing but not a dealbreaker. I honestly thought it was an oversight. Looking back, I see now it was a Bold Face LIE! Then I got my first bill. I was told my bill would NOT raise. The salesperson assured me it would be cheaper than my current provider--it's actually $30 more per month. Customer service keeps telling me that I am wrong. They also promised there was no contract. While technically not a contract, the "free" phones we were given for switching are far from free. If I cancel before three years, I'll owe over $700 per phone. How is that not a contract? They claimed I'd get $20 off per month just for having a job--also false. I was placed on a plan that doesn't offer that benefit. They promised faster internet speeds, but it's slower than my previous service. I even had to purchase a Wi-Fi booster for upstairs, which I've never needed before. When I asked about this, the installer said it's "normal with AT&T." AT&T customer service does not care. I honestly feel like I've been taken advantage of, and I can't believe I fell for this so late in life. DO NOT GO AT&T. I promise I'm not a crazy person throwing a fit. I just wish someone cared enough to listen, but instead, they seem more concerned with making me feel trapped. I'm not trapped. For $1400, I can pay off the phones, walk away with two iPhones, and go anywhere I want. And that's exactly what I'm going to do--because this whole thing is crazy. I just don't like leaving companies. But I've had enough. Take my advice: NEVER talk to outside salespeople operating within a trusted and once-loved establishment. Companies like AT&T, and even Target (for allowing this in their stores), should hold their representatives accountable. This kind of deception could seriously hurt someone financially. AT&T is the worst. I will never use their services again. I cancelled in September, 2025. One account with 2 numbers. It is now February, 2026 and I'm still getting the run around. Unqualified employees did not cancel both lines properly. I paid for the 1st extra month of billing for the second line. Then another billing and still not properly cancelled. So disgusted with the customer service and I can't get in touch with a manager. read more

Update (8/4/25): I called customer service one more time and they were able to credit my account and apply the discounts that were promised to me in store. It took some effort, but it did eventually happen. (8/3/25) I feel lied to and swindled. I was quoted a price at the AT&T store, and my actual bill was 60% higher than what I was quoted. I have tried to rectify the billing error for multiple months but I am still being over-charged. I called and went in-person to the AT&T store 4 different times. The store was unable to change the bill. Customer service was unable to help me. I have friends who were also offered a discounted price for their AT&T account and received a similarly surprisingly high bill. Be aware of any promises made by AT&T regarding teacher discounts, military discounts, senior discounts, or auto pay discounts!!! I'm my experience, these discounts are not real. read more

I gave up after waiting 90 minutes to speak with a representative. Worst customer "service" ever. Judging from the overwhelming majority of 1-star reviews, AT&T simply does not care about their customers. I, like many others, wish there was a Zero rating. read more

Customer Service is not trained to deal with anything. I resolved the issue myself while trying to explain it to them and they would not listen. Told me to call Samsung. Fire all those outsourced customer service people and lower my bill. read more
