I'm returning to Cricket after trying another wireless phone provider for 2 weeks. The company…read moreoffered a wireless plan (through my employer) almost 50 percent less than my Cricket plan but found it to be only 50 percent the signal too, at least that's what it seemed like anyway. What a major disappointment that was. I'm definitely happy to be back with Cricket. Their in-store Brownwood location customer service is hit and miss but their reasonably priced wireless phone service is isn't. Cricket uses AT&T Network so it's mostly dependable. You're advised about slower data speeds during network congestion but in the previous 3 years I've hardly noticed any change. I like the Unlimited 15 G Hotspot plan you save almost $30 for 2 lines and the regular family 4 lines is an even better deal. Cricket is definitely for the budget minded except when it comes to buying a phone. Their in house financing almost doubles a phones price. All you get with Cricket is a no thrills and/or frills cellular data and wireless phone plan at a good price. And since it's not for business but just regular use that's ok with me.

Do not buy cricket - I guess you get what you pay for. They have poor customer service! I do not recommend. Lesson learned. Update August 2020. The young adults who work in the local store do know how to work the phones and apps. But they only give a number when you ask about hardware issues. It was really like jumping through hoops to finally get a replacement phone. But it was finally done.

Oh jeez, had to dust off my Yelp and modify a review I left ages ago. Just had the worst…read moreexperience dealing with a simple screen replacement. Went later in the day, cracked iPhone screen, straight-forward replacement, got it finished near closing time, paid and left. Only after a bit of normal use, it must have had some compatibility problem (3rd rate aftermarket screen probably) and would not pinch-to-zoom. Took it back the next day, the attendant acknowledged it, replaced it again and it still was doing it. The attendant herself (like the employee the night before) was as helpful/polite as she could be, but it all turned to garbage when she got the owner on speakerphone for a "now what do I do?" call. He tried to pawn it off on us that the phone's "data was corrupt" and we needed to basically reinstall/update system??? The worst case of "did you try restarting it?" I've ever heard. It then became like an episode of Columbo with my indicating that the phone was fine, if the data was a problem, it wouldn't have changed with the screen, and he was all "these work all the time blah blah blah". It was immensely stressful and dripped with lack of concern for customer satisfaction. I told him he could just forget about me taking the phone home and doing some sort of factory install on it to just be back where we started from, and I needed the phone fixed now. Bear in mind, I put the attendant herself at ease that she was not the problem, that this was her off-site manager's rotten idea of customer service policy. Thinking WE were the one's going to be stuck, he said snarkily "what do you want me to do then?" And we replied, "a refund?" He snapped "then you're going to get a phone without a screen" (clearly he didn't grasp how this repair had been basically mere hours prior, on the previous night). We told them "just put the original cracked screen back on, it's probably still in the trash can!" [It was at this moment... he knew.... he f/ed up] The (still nice as she could be) attendant went back and got the heaping case of trashed screens with a look on her face like "good luck." Without missing a beat, we just grabbed the one right on top, there it was, the exact one... "there it is! Just put it back on and give us our money back!" (Gotta say, poor attendant girl giggled... agreeably). The owner had nothing else arrogant to offer at this point, and the attendant put the old screen back on. Oh! And then we held the phone in front of her and demonstrated perfectly normal pinch-to-zoom function, (which OF COURSE it was their shoddy replacement parts with compatibility issues). That got a smile outta her. He begrudgingly authorized the refund, like pulling teeth. We left losing a whole day right back where we started from because of this owner. Anyway, beyond offensively rotten customer service POLICY, so bad it's punishment for the poor employees just needing the paycheck. The owner is a classic "take the money and run" shyster. The only thing fun about the whole stressful experience is we've turned his "your data is corrupt" B.S. line into a household meme to have fun irritating each other. "Hey, guess what... your data's corrupt!" "OMG DAD, WILL YOU STOP!!" hehehe... anyway, our luck ran out here. Recommend you just drive right on by unless you like being taken for a tool.

I've been having issues with my Samsung phone where the phone will be fully charged and less than 4 hours later, while only on standby, be totally dead. On Saturday, I took the phone to The Best Buy (I originally purchased the device at a Best Buy) in Round Rock, which is the only one of their stores in the Austin area that services the device. The "technician" tested my device and said the battery was fine and they couldn't replace it because it past their "thorough test". Not one to take things at face value, I went over to iTech in the Domain. The technician was knowledgeable and pleasant and agreed there was something up with the phone. He opened up the device (with me standing there) and to both of our surprise the battery was swollen to twice it's correct size and ready to explode. Remember all those people who couldn't get on airplanes last year because their Galaxy Note 7's were ticking time bombs?...yeah like that! New battery installed and I've had zero issues with it since. Apparently, Best Buy's rigorous test was to ask "is it a battery?" and if the answer is "yes" it passes. I will NEVER give Best Buy my business again. Not only did they fail to correctly diagnose the issue with my device but they let me walk out the door with a device that could have caused physical harm or fire damage. (and yes, I'll be leaving them a review also.) So, in short, bring your device to iTech in the domain with the confidence that it's in good hands. Best Buy....I hope Amazon puts you out of business.

I'm 4 months in and it's actually $60 more Was asked straight up if I wanted the Up Next anytime plan for my four devices. I said no and double check to make sure they weren't putting it on. I've had to go back and get on the phone four separate times to remove the Up Next plan from each device and they won't refund me for the 2 months. The funny thing is they said it had to go through one to two Bill cycles before it could be removed.. what a great way to make some extra cash The worst part is I did not want to switch my daughter's phones over from Verizon, but they said we have a promotion going on for free iPhone Airs if you switch over. So of course we did. It has now been almost 4 months and we are still being charged the monthly installment for those two "FREE phones" if you try to call corporate, which I have about three or four times, they aren't much help either. Good luck out there but hey, at least that dude got his commissions so I guess so good for him.
