My wife has been having trouble with her new IPhone for a week now. I looked at it, but I don't speak "fruit" and other than "turn it off and on again," I had no advice. "Let's go see an expert," I said. We headed to the nearest AT&T Store. When we arrived, there was only the one person on duty and she had a customer who was definitely not understanding. That took about 15 minutes to solve. By that time, the other dude had come back from break and we were served. It took him all of two minutes to not only diagnose the problem but he fixed it. She hadn't properly activated her phone. Oops. All set now and this is so much easier and I'm glad we didn't try to get in line at the Apple Store to see a Genius. I went into this store to find out how to return a phone and cancel a line. My wife had just passed, and I wanted to drop her line. Sadly, she only got to use her new iPhone for a few days. (I did not mention my wife's passing as I could not bring myself to speak that; Cancelling her line was difficult enough as it is). I asked the woman at the greeting counter about returning a phone. She wanted me to provide the order number. While I was trying to find it, she asked if I knew where I ordered the phone. I could not remember whether the phone was ordered online or at the store. She implied, without even verifying, that I must've ordered it online and that I would have to send it back via mail. She could've looked up this information on my account but was not interested in helping me. Instead, she turned her back to me and watched what was playing on the in-store television while I struggled to find the information. I got frustrated and just left the store. So, she is getting paid to help customers while this customer, who has been with AT&T since the days of Cingular wireless (20+ years) had to struggle to try and help her. I have posted this to BBB, I will be posting it to all other review sites as well. In September, my spouse and myself went to AT&T for Apple Watches. While we were in the store, I EXPLICITLY asked the sales agent AND store manager what fees would be associated with adding the watches on. I was informed that the only changes to my bill would be $10 for each watch line, and $10/mo. for one of the watches (we participated in the buy one/give one sale), totaling in an additional $30/mo. This SHOULD HAVE taken my bill from $215 to $245. My spouse also had his number changed, and I once again asked if there would be any fees associated with changing his number. The STORE MANAGER assured me there was no fee for number change. A week or two later I check my bill on AT&T and it went up to $515!! THAT IS AN INCREASE OF THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS, NOT THIRTY!!! I immediately called AT&T, explained my situation, and filed a dispute. As of today, October 10, there has been NO ADJUSTMENT to my account. So, I called AT&T once again to figure out the problem. After over an hour on the phone, turns out that my request was DENIED?! Why was I denied? Because a few months ago, I requested cancellation of phone insurance. I had paid $300 in premiums, which were RIGHTFULLY returned to me since the policies had not been used. Since they issued a $300 refund for the unused premiums (which happens in every instance of insurance cancellation, I sell Insurance for a living, so I am extremely familiar with that process), they denied the new disputed charges on my account I have spent HOURS on the phone trying to speak with managers, and NO ONE is helping me. They continue to transfer me from office to office, each person saying, "oh well, nothing I can do." No, there is something AT&T can do. They can STOP SCAMMING customers. I was EXPLICITLY told in the store my bill would ONLY INCREASE $30. The dishonesty within this business is DISTURBING. This place receives NO STARS. do yourself a favor and take advice from an employee and GO TO A CORPORATE STORE! This place is right up the street from my job. So i found it to be fairly convenient in handling transactions for my acct. That is until...... I met Larry the employee from hell. Lets be very clear because i want the right employee to receive shame for his conduct not by chance, well... another gentleman who works there name Larry. This young man was slender, low hair cut, dark complexion black male in his mid twenties at best and no more than 5'10. I came in the store to activate a device i had since i cracked the screen on my current phone. Larry informed me of a $5 fee for a sim card(i was like smh really but ok).The he asked for the phone. I handed it to him and he began to talk about how this phone takes a larger sim card. NOT TRUE. Then he said a smaller sim card. NOT TRUE. Then he said this phone has only 1 sim card slot and they dont carry the size sim it needs.NOT TRUE. i sat there thinking how does my friend and I know more than he does. We should have bailed. My phone was a dual sim which can hold 2 sometimes 3 sim cards and a memory card. Making it a quick swap if i was out of the country and wanted to use my device. My friend told him the micro sim fits in the second slot and this genius slid it into the larger slot and stuffed it down until it disappeared. Then he looks at me with fear and says "i think it's stuck". I said so what do you plan to do. He says you have to leave the store i called the police. I was like wait..... What! This guy takes my phone, shoves a sim card in the wrong slot, doesn't want to be accountable, gets concerned that i will get upset and wants to have me escorted out by the police. I was fuming! Let's just recap. he messed up the new phone(brand new). Took my existing sim card out my old phone( refused to insert another sim), then called the police(and i did nothing wrong). He says to me "I AM NOT GIVING YOU A NEW PHONE!" I replied i never asked for 1. But you need to remedy this situation somehow because now i have nothing. He refused, my friend who was with me managed to somehow get the guy to put a sim card in my old phone so i would at least have something. The cops showed up and said regardless of right or wrong he called the cops first so he is right and i am banned form the store. Take my broken phone and leave. I am astounded. Where was my resolution, or empathy. NONE. i left very angry and went to another store, a corporate store. and they asked me for names & store #'s because they would be sure to inform people not to visit that location because what they did was extremely unacceptable and they do not treat customers like that. They were able to get the sim card out that the other asshole forced in the phone with a SAFETY PIN!!!! (Thank you so much Alex from the corporate store!) Point being all it took was some patience not trying to pretend like nothing happened and calling the cops on me. I did nothing wrong and this jerk really tried to punish me for his mistake. STAY AWAY FROM HERE-AUTHORIZED DEALER FROM HELL. The corporate store was clear in telling me they don't care who they hire or enforce customer service and ethical behavior like AT&T STORE DO! So i learned my lesson. And i am not letting this go either. I won't until this employee receives corrective action or this store gets media coverage for this horrible experience. I forgot to mention i was 2 hours late from my lunch break because of this whole thing, and the other store was able to do everything i was seeking help with that day. Get proper training for your employees if he will lie about damaging a customers property is that the face you want interacting with people who are coming to do business..
