We did not have a prior appointment but young Mathew greeted us at the door and invited us to the store. Once we were seated we explained our need. Mathew quickly got the watch and the Apple-watch synched. Thereafter, he described various plans and informed us of the benefits with upgrading our phone and also enrolled us in paperless billing!! Delightful experience here, working with Jessica. She went above and beyond expectations going through all our options..... she even went above brought out contract to see if she could bring the bill down. Cheated me by adding a line we didn't need to our account by saying that was the best way for me to upgrade. This store is run by fraudulent people - would stay away! Have had to spend approximately 3hrs on the phone with ATT to try and resolve it and still not resolved and will cost me an additional $866. In fact, becuase the manager misguided me, I cannot resolve this because he didnt explain all my options and made me believe what I was signing up for was my best "deal". After 3 hours of conversation, the ATT customer service basically is saying their "hands are tied" and they cannot help me because I signed for this line in the store. STAY AWAY!!! Warning!!! This store likes to add unauthorized lines to your account. Before you notice it will be months down the road. You will be stuck paying the bill and the will deem in not fraudulent because you were in the store and most likely signed something electronically without knowing exactly what you signed. Anyways, long story short... stay away from this store the add things to your account without you knowing. If you want to be poorly treated and ignored when explaining your problem, followed by a pivot to upsell you in an effort to capture your cable services, this is just the place for you. Otherwise steer clear and do not ever buy the ATT Netgear mifi; a useless paperweight that seems to have chronic problems with its broadband being disconnected. There are multiple forums on this very specific issue that the clerk in the store had no interest in trying to understand or even show a modicum of empathy to the frustration I felt. I'll see you at a Verizon story and will happily stay with Comcast which I never really loved, but do now. The ATT customer service motto "Live true. Do the right thing, no compromise'" apparently has been forgotten here. I will never return. read more

Horrible Service. The employee, Jess, who had "helped" us was incredibly rude and she had a huge attitude. I cannot believe how rude she was and she was being ridiculously stubborn as she kept "doing her job". Instead of helping us figure out the issue with our order, she kept adamantly shooting me down. Do not recommend at all. Then I went to the Waltham store hoping to get better service and thankfully there was amazing customer service there. Do not go to the Newton location at all. I needed to get help with my cell phone plan which included changing my plan and getting an honest explanation about my billing concerns. William H. helped me immensely. He clearly explained the best cell phone plan for my limited needs, costs, how it works, etc. He was straightforward, honest and really took the time helping me since I am NOT cell phone savvy. I explained my needs and he compared several plans to my liking and I chose on his recommendation that matches my limited use of cell phones. AT&T stores are sometimes dreadful but the Newton Highlands location makes it enjoyable and pleasant. Even though I don't live right down the street from here, it's not that far away, and when I'm in the area, it's an added plus. This store is located right on Needham Street next to the New England Mobile Book Fair with entrances in the front and back of the store. There is a large parking lot in the back as well. It's not one of those "Authorized Retailers", so it has a payment kiosk (which I GREATLY appreciate), and the inside is actually pleasant and updated with the newest and best technology. Not downing the Authorized Retailers, but in general, I just find those stores to be a real pain in the butt. They never are staffed that well, don't have kiosk's, and in many cases the AT&T online site has messed up the hours of operation for like all of the authorized stores. Anyway, the staff here are helpful and even in complicated situations they have a really good way of making the plan easily comprehensible to customers. This store is normally less busy than other AT&T locations (which is justified because there is another Company AT&T store in Chestnut Hill, which is also great), and getting personal service is always just a flash away. It is a little smaller than most of their other stores, but the size doesn't really affect in the capabilities of the store. 4 stars for AT&T in Newton Highlands. A decent AT&T. read more

This is a 'low volume' store, according to one of the employees, which I think translates to good news for customers, since my husband and I got waited on as soon as we walked in the door. Dan (manager?) initially helped us. I was switching from an Android and Verizon to an iPhone 8 and AT&T so I could be on the same plan as my husband and get a better rate. Dan asked us a several questions to make sure he could offer us the best deal. I ended up getting the phone for free, and Dan found a cheaper plan for my husband, and added me for only another $25 per month. Then he transferred us to Kim set it all up. Kim knew exactly what she was doing and couldn't have been nicer. It did take over an hour, but I was 100% satisfied with how helpful and knowledgeable everyone was. If you need to go to AT&T, go to this location. read more

I had a real bad experience with this store. It all started with me dropping my smartphone last week. The screen cracked, but the phone still works. So I'd like to get a new one quick. Fortunately I'm within 30 days of my renewal. So I like the HTC X One in white. I call AT&T customer care and they can order it for me. It's okay that I'm not quite at my renewal date, but the phone is back ordered and they can't tell me how long I'll have to wait. This is on Wednesday. On Friday, I think maybe I should call around to the local stores. The store in Newton has the phone I want. Ben at the store tells me to cancel my order and come in. He'll "try to help me out". Here is the really bad part. I get to the store and it is true that I'm about 2 weeks shy of my renewal date so I need them to wave it which they can do, but the only way Ben will do this is if I buy home phone service. So he won't give me the HTC One X and it's like talking to a brick wall. I leave the store very unhappy go home and call customer care to reinstate my order. Now I can't even order the white version because the back log is so long they aren't taking orders anymore. Now I can't get the phone I want. I've been with AT&T for 12 years. Way back before they were bought by Cingular and this is the kind of treatment I get. I'll get over it, but please consider my experience if you are thinking of visiting this store. This review is to warn people who go to this AT&T store that you must check your plans and receipts before and after you leave the building. It is unfortunate that a long-time customer that pays a bill covering a family plan of 11 lines for iPads, iPhones, etc. can be taken advantage of. In August 2017, I added a new phone line (business phone) to the same account with the 11 lines (which has a 30GB shared plan). The dude in the store said that it would be added to the same 30GB family plan and that the monthly additional charge for the line would be $15 per month. I walked out happy only to find out 3 weeks later that he added this line under the same account but separate 300mb plan with text messages costing 20 cents per text. The bill after approximately 3 weeks of this plan was already more than $100. In September 2017, I needed a replacement phone so dropped into the same store to switch it out because the first experience was positive. After reviewing the receipt I noticed two rows for "added insurance" and questioned what they were. They ended up being additional $12 per month b.s. charges. These additional unsaid charges were part of the reason we inquired about our account and found out about the aforementioned charges. We also learned that a line for an iPad that should have been shut-off was still active and billed to our accont. Go to the store if you need to but be warned that you need to review everything carefully in the store and when you get home. read more

After a rude experience trying to open a new family plan at the Verizon store down the street, my husband and I decided to go to AT&T. The sales associate was very attentive and patient. It only took about 30 min for us to pick out phones, cases, screen protectors, and set up our plan. Always have the best service here ! I've moved to Texas in February and still call for my att questions. I have gone to att stores here but I can't seem to get the same results. Wow.... just Wow.... Just when you thought customer service couldn't get any worse.. AT&T proves you wrong... Problem is that even with a few options (Sprint, Verizon, TMobile), Cell phone companies seem to have decided that customers are fools and to be treated accordingly. AT&T customer service is about the worst I have ever encountered, with reps who lie, mislead, and try to avoid any sense of fairness, good business, or even basic competence... The problem is, however, that this is more because AT &T sets it up this way... and the staff is hired for these traits and trained to act in this fashion... I have experienced corporate AT& T reps denying what I know is in the notes (from viewing same in store), claiming false notes, refusing even to honor agreements when the notes confirm such, and basically taking advantage of customers for short term gain. Reps are not set up to help customers, but to deflect and exhaust them, while continuing to profit from mistakes, absurd penalties, and outright fraud. Sadly, AT&T has even set up a different department for customers who they have screwed... and they treat you as somebody not to be dealt with honestly... because they gave you credits for their mistakes... The Needham Street store in Newton, MA is notorious for combining arrogance with incompetence. But, again, this seems to be the AT&T policy... from the top down. It is very sad that such is true... and past time for investigations and action by state and federal officials. read more

Good grief. The strangest thing just happened to my SO and I at this store. My phone is falling apart and I need a replacement; my SO is thinking about upgrading to a smartphone and getting the requisite data plan. We walk in and a sales guy comes over and asks what we're looking for. When I tell him that I want a replacement for my Razr and it has to do bluetooth tethering, he proceeds to get his nose out of joint, telling me that tethering is against AT&T policy and if I'm caught tethering I'll get in trouble blah blah blah. I cut him off and tell him that I'm on a grandfathered Cingular data plan (from back before AT&T bought Cingular) that allows tethering, and he grudgingly admits that I'm permitted to tether under those circumstances, but that *no* phones in the store support tethering, insinuating that's because it's a criminal activity, and -- I'm not making this up -- I should go to eBay to try to find a replacement Razr. He also treats me to a lecture about how evil tetherers are, congesting networks unfairly. When we get home, I check out the AT&T website and discover that they're promoting a data plan _specifically for tethering_, and in their online phone store promote the fact when a model supports bluetooth tethering. WTF? For the record, I got on the AT&T website chat service to talk to a corporate sales rep, who confirmed the availability of the tethering data plan and tethering-enabled phones, and was duly apologetic and appalled to hear what happened at this store. read more
