I cannot recommend this business, regardless of my past experiences, now that they have chosen to sign on with a proposed ordinance from the Grand Rapids Chamber. This ordinance would criminalize our unhoused neighbors, making it a violation to sit or lie in public areas. No matter the language used, this is simply unacceptable in our community. I further refuse to patronize this business and encourage others to do so, based on the callous timing of this effort, as it occurred in the lead-up to winter holidays held by various faiths and cultures, and seemed to be the very opposite of the spirit of the holiday season. Unless and until this business withdraws their support for the Chamber's version of this effort, and publicly apologizes for their choice to join the effort by signing the letter, I will not be spending money here or updating this rating. read more

I dropped my phone while at work and to my dismay when I picked it up, the screen was shattered and was not responding to my inputs. It was about 5:15 PM and I called Lake Effect Phone Repair because I needed my phone the next day for a off-site work meeting. I wasn't able to get there until 6 PM (When Zak said he usually closes) but that didn't stop him from staying open late and making sure I got my phone fixed. Once I was there, it only took him about 20 to 25 minutes to replace my screen, all while simultaneously educating me about the phone and what exactly broke when I dropped it. Customer service was top-notch, and I have had no issues with my phone since the fix. Definitely will be going here again in the future for Phone Repair needs. read more

We have had such a hard time with other tech services, and getting things set up always felt like such a hassle, but today we walked in and within 15 minutes were all taken care of and walked out feeling lighter than ever. The customer service was amazing, the quality of the 2 second-hand iPhone 14 pros we got was top-notch, and we loved petting the super fluffy and friendly shop dog bean. I was having trouble with my charging port on my cell phone. I reached out to a couple companies, and Zakry from Lake Effect responded the fastest with the most professional and honest options. It just needed a cleaning this time, which was preformed free of charge by Lake Effect. I did get pricing to replace the port itself, and the pricing seemed reasonable but was obviously unnecessary. Zak was amazing! A friend thought he had lost all the phone msgs he had saved from his wife who had recently died. He had brought the phone into his provider & he was told they couldn't retrieve any of the msgs & would have to replace the phone. BUT Zak was able to repair the phone, retrieve the msgs and show us how to save the msgs so that they would be backed up to his cloud storage. Many tears and thankfulness! The back of my Pixel started to come loose, caused by a swelling battery. I took it to Zak yesterday and he returned it today with the new battery installed and the back back in place.
