The manager Ivan Martinez was rude, hostile and aggressive when I asked him for his information to leave a review because his customer service was nonexistent and he had a horrible attitude. Despite what the other two reviewers said, I've had consistently terrible customer service at this location. I mean, I know that ALL cell phone companies are out to screw you, and AT&T is no exception, but when I've gone to this store they've ignored me, been unable to answer my questions, and unwilling to work with me to find a solution. In fact, one employee visibly stepped away as soon as I started explaining what I needed. I'm not a jerk (I don't yell, I say please and thank you, and I understand if they can't re-write contracts in-store) but that attitude put me on the defensive from minute one. "This is the worst "service" I have received in my 54 years living in Washington. Tabitha Edmond, "Friendly Consultant," was mean, nasty, dismissive, pretending she simply did not understand the problem I had with the iPhone I had purchased at that very store. Because I needed "service" not making a "purchase," she did not want to talk to me. At all. She actually said, "we are very busy here. Why don't you go to an Apple store?" I was the only customer in the store. I told her another "consultant" (who I described) had spent time with me the preceding Saturday, and had told me to come back during the week. She denied there could have been any such "consultant" who would have told that to me. I then took out the piece of paper on which I had written the consultant's name. Tabitha Edmond then got angrily defensive and said, "Well, she doesn't work here anymore." She then said she did not have any more time to "waste" with me. I never will go there again. I felt a little rushed by the salesperson, but when I said I needed more time to pick out accessories, he left me alone. Frustrated with my iPhone and elated that my previous contract with XYZ wireless had ended, I dropped by this local AT&T store to see what the latest and greatest in technology was. Upon opening the door, I was met with Kylah's warm smile and firm handshake-- she must've known I'm a sucker for a firm handshake. She and her assistant, Wesley, asked me lots of questions about what I liked about my phone, what I didn't like about my phone, what I liked about my carrier, etc. Kylah's questions were thoughtful and deliberate, her mannerisms professional yet friendly, and her advice sincere. Her apprentice is certainly learning from the best. It's not about being a good salesman, per se. It's about being a SINCERE salesperson. I told Kylah that I couldn't care less how much I can save with one cell phone service, or cell phone for that matter (most of the plans I would use are similarly priced). What truly matters to me is customer service. I want to know that if I come in to a store, I'm going to be made to feel like I'm a person, not a number. She did exactly that. This store is laid out excellently and has a wide variety of products. But what this store has that no one else has::: Kylah. The primary reason I've selected 4 stars instead of 5 stars, is that my plan wasn't really at all explained to me. I don't know everything that I have, and I don't have a lot of time to look at the receipt. I know my bill is a little higher than my previous carrier, but so far I love it. Nothing better than to call and ask if they have something in stock and being lied tooooooo. Specifically asked them how long it would take to get new upgrade, Mitch said 10-15. I told him I'd be there in 20 mins. Made it in less than 10 and guess what Mitch said....sorry my coworker just sold it, but i ha e this other model. I had to walk out without saying a word. Timing doesn't match and the best part is called the other AT&T Store in Bethesda and guess what the very nice lady told me, we don't have it but we can order it for you. She's got my business. I would like to pay a huge compliment to Ty Smith at this att store. I lucked out with his problem solving approach. He was focused on helping me from the start. And polite and patient with all of the issues that my phone was presenting. It's a bit scary how dependent we all are on having our phones working correctly. I came into the store frustrated and left a happy camper. Plus Ty taught me about how to use my phone more effectivley. Kudos att for hiring Ty Smith. He is a winner and headed to the top. Beware of aggressive sales tactics. While getting a new device set up and purchasing a screen protector we suffered through a barrage of high pressure sales pitches for a variety of items and services which we repeatedly said we didn't need or want. As we were checking our salesperson Leonard said , " I gave you this power pack and charger" thanks for your business. We thanked him. It when we got outside we looked at our receipt and saw we were CHARGED for these unwanted items he GAVE us. Thankfully we hadn't moved our car so we were able to go in and get a refund. He had no legitimate response, sadly just hoped we wouldn't notice. read more

The WORST customer service ever - and I say this after several visits to the store. They are not very helpful and really, really uninterested in helping you find the product you want. The last guy I dealt with seemed annoyed by my presence even though he was doing nothing when I approached him. He kept looking over my should at someone or something else as we talked. I couldn't help but feel he had no time or patience for me - even though they weren't busy during that visit. I do think middle-aged white guys may not get the same level of service as younger (white or otherwise) customers get. Just an observation after visiting the store several times. I ended up going to a competitor's store and got just what I wanted at a great price - with super customer service. read more

I once appreciated and valued the service reps at the Friendship AT&T store. The staff has changed and after buying a new iPhone last week, I have received nothing but misinformation, sneaky charges and not the bill I said I would be receiving regularly. They were clearly only interested in selling me a phone and didn't care to be transparent. The female person in charge today was absolutely useless and had the nerve to ask, "Why do you need a second cell phone anyway?" What business is it of hers to ask me that - she was rude all around. The "service" we received at this store on the evening of 8/17 was disrespectful and unhelpful, including by the store manager, Alan. We had been told by AT&T customer service by phone that we could return our recently received and underperforming phones to the store. First we were told by a store salesperson that there was no record of our phone conversation with AT&T customer service. Alan then found the record, but said that we had been misled by AT&T customer service. Our phones could not be returned to the store, he said, and even if they could there would be a $55 fee per phone. It is plain that the store people want high-value sales opportunities, and are reluctant to provide service. Apparently it did not occur to Alan that despite the fact that we are elderly we are capable of noticing bad and disrespectful behavior and complaining about it. We have reported our experience to AT&T. In its own self interest AT&T should not countenance such behavior. I notice that other customers have similar Yelp complaints about the store. In fairness, I should say that our follow-up with AT&T Customer Service was very helpful, so we are staying with AT&T for the moment, rather than switching. read more

Kaylon is the only reason I am still an AT&T customer. I have been dealing with an issue for the past four months and Kaylon fixed it within minutes. I have been told by numerous representatives over the phone that I need case numbers and to submit complaints to resolve my issue, but nothing has been fixed. Going into this store was the best decision I've ever made. I will never call customer service again if I don't have to. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this customer-service nightmare. Purchased what was supposed to be a surprise gift for my wife for Christmas...and made it very clear to the AT&T representative it was a gift and that they should not activate the new phone prior to Christmas. Last night service was shut off to my wife's old phone...and when I returned to the store in an attempt to salvage the situation, the two representatives could not have cared less. They were terrible ambassadors for AT&T. The Christmas surprise was ruined...and it took over two hours on the phone (with a thankfully helpful customer-care representative) to restore service (neither phone worked) and activate the new phone. The personnel at this AT&T location are completely incompetent...but what is worse...their customer-service attitude is embarrassing. Please save yourself the frustration and go with another wireless carrier...after an association with AT&T that spans over 40 years...we will NEVER to business with them again. Walked in hoping to buy two, new IPhone 8's. Sales rep approached me but was told to help another customer first. He did, then was approached by another customer asking about earbuds. After helping the first customer, sales rep got on his phone and then called the other customer looking for earbuds over to help her. Hello?? I'm here to buy two new phones, one would think that would take precedents over earbuds, and the fact that I was there first. But alas, I ended up walking out of the store with no new phone... hope the rep was able to sell at least two pair of earbuds. read more

Stopped in to look at phones this evening. Not a single rep available. I expect to wait but I'd hoped to compare phones while I did. However none of the phones on display have any of the specs with them. I finally gave up waiting when I overheard one of the reps tell another customer that he was out of luck because all but one rep was about to leave... Meanwhile they don't close for a few more hours. Customer service was less than subpar. Came in to upgrade my phone which online I had everything set to do the transaction. When I got there they looked at me as if I was crazy for walking in at 4pm while they were still open. My bad at my audacity. Manager sent a rep who seemed to be new to the gig which is fine but he decided to tell me that I wasn't eligible for my upgrade. I explained that everything was set online but he wasn't about it. I wasn't going to waste my time arguing with him or the manager who was attempting to install a roku system which wasn't going well. I left and did my upgrade online with absolutely no problems. Let's start with the positive: the salesman who sold me a phone was patient and knowledgeable, and would answer any question. We spent about 20 minutes together. However, this store sold me a phone which failed to work the second I left the store! After waiting two hours to discuss the matter with store management, I decided to immediately cancel my plan (thank G-d no contract!). However, the store socked me with a $35 fee to "restock" the non-working phone! Are they doing so to sell a non-working phone to some other sucker? Secondly, I received email bills from AT&T for the next two months. Since I didn't have an online AT&T account, I had to spend about an hour calling their customer service office to learn that I owed...$1.33, for two hours of AT&T service spent waiting to see a store representative about their broken phone! The same thing happened a month later. An AT&T ebill came; I had no AT&T account; and after an hour of calling I learned that I owed...$0.00! The promises AT&T's customer services representatives made about refunding my $35 were denied a month later, after repeated inquiries. Reason: they don't get involved with retailers, or something like this. read more
