I brought my phone in because the iOS would not update, They had never seen the particular message before (which is hard to believe) they wanted to wipe the phone completely to redo the iOS. I did not wanna get iPhone wiped, but Was told to start the process it would begin with a wipe. So I insisted on seeing a tech and going through the steps one at a time, against the initial advice, I was giving everything turned out perfect, I could not remember my Apple password, which was not needed. My Apple laptop just had a birthday, it was 12 years old, so I decided it was time to get a new one. When, I figured it out my stats...I bought my Apple laptop online. I made an appointment at the Genius Bar to get my data transferred from my old computer. Koha told me that it takes 24-72 hours to get the work done. Thank you, Koha...it was ready that night. You are the best! The Apple Store is clean and well organized. The people who work there are Rock Stars! A huge shout out and applause to Jason! He worked with me to download all of the programs I use on a daily basis and make sure I was able to use them. Jason is a magician and his fingers flew along the keyboard. He was kind, patient, and a serious expert in his craft. Jason you are a Superstar! Thank you, so very much. Updated: so yes the wait was long. The first person that came to help us didn't give a good solution because it was that it would take hours to fix the new iPhone and we had been to 2 apple stores (plus best buy the day before) and we do not live close by, like over an hour was l away. So then the supervisor came over and I explained our situation. She was very kind and listened which is the updated stats. She gave us a loaner phone and then sent in ours for repair which still has to be picked up when it returns to the store, but at least we didn't have a swollen battery iPhone that would be a hazard. I know they only have so many choices on what to do here, but I feel like for a phone purchased months before that apple should've just replaced it with a new one instead of making us drive back and forth to the store to get it fixed. The other thing I don't understand is why this service can't happen via mail, like send us the fixed or new phone and don't make us come back, but it is what it is. I do appreciate the professionalism of the supervisor and I didn't remember her name, but she's awesome. So made an appt at the Montgomery Mall to get new iPhone 16 fixed. Got there on time, got helped, agreed that the phone needed repair or replaced, however they didn't have the phone or the parts. The Apple staff were helpful especially Derek. He was polite and brilliant! Thank you Derek! Sadly, my experience as a regular customer of Apple and a cancer survivor was terribly scarred by an Apple Store Manager who refused to move out of my way while she was blocking the screen to an Apple tutorial. She refused to talk to me about it and walked off RUDELY twice when I tried addressing her. Her behaviour reminded me of an immature unhealed person, not at all of an Apple Store manager: she was totally unprofessional. She was not a pride as her name suggests, but I left with a feeling of: what a shame! I may NOT visit this store again. I'm so super duper happy to report that this store no longer is overrun by customers crowding every table and checking out the latest iPhone / iPad/ laptop. Now, the store is overrun by Apple staff, identifiable by the cutest little white apple on their shirt, who check out the latest iPhone / iPad/ laptop and have a good ole' time talking to each other and mooseying through the store. It's a relief that the customer now has to make an appointment online, then check in (on time), and then can wait. Wait, wait? Oh yes, you know, for the one genius that actually does work. And genius it takes to figure out that the laptop needs be shipped out for repair for more money than it's worth. So save your time, and buy the stuff online, consider it a disposable, and when it breaks after a year, just throw it into the trash. It's fast, it's easy, and much more affordable than maintaining an apple product. read more

The Short: Good visit & friendly customer service experience. The Long: Definitely a change from the days of being able to simply walk-in, take time to browse around and then make a purchase. It's been a while since I've been to an Apple store, but I had to make a stop here due to my "iPhone 10" was on the fritz and in need of an upgrade!....* Yes, I held out and refused to buy another iPhone for the last 4 years!! lol Nevertheless, the mission was accomplished at this store. Due to the pandemic, the store is mainly available for online pick-up orders and appointment purchases. Unfortunately, I did not have an appointment nor did I place my order online but I was allowed to walk-in and get assistance with my iPhone upgrade. Everything was straightforward and simple. I walked in, traded my phone for a new one and was out the door in less than 30 minutes. The experience itself was positive and I did not feel rushed but I must say I do miss being able to shop around and browse the actual store. Thanks to covid, only a limited number of people are allowed into the store at a time and your shopping experience is brief -- NO browsing, NO touching the products, NO in-store setup or assistance with your purchase allowed....and social distancing/masks are mandatory. Other than this, overall, the service was fast and friendly. Truthfully speaking....If it wasn't for this store being the only store in the area to have the iPhone model/color I was looking for in stock, I probably wouldn't frequent this location. I say this for the mere fact that this store is a bit on the boring side....no wow factor, no learning hub spaces, and the store itself is just an open box with four walls....sitting chairs/tables in the center of the store. The DC Carnegie Library Apple Store and Clarendon location are my favorite locations in the DMV and got this one beat for sure. About average Apple Store in a convenient location, it would be better if it was clear who could help you with what. It's an Apple Store and a nice one. It's a great place to put your hands on Apple's stuff before you buy it and get things fixed. That's true pretty much everywhere. I generally find the service is a bit more helpful here--my guess is because it's Bethesda and people spend a ton of money here, so they're just focused on helping and not hassling you about fixing things. I find some of the university-oriented Apple Stores are less good at that. The most frustrating thing here is figuring out who can help you with what. They have greeters, people near computers, Genius Bar people, people near the phones and they never seem as approachable as you wish. The result is that it can feel like you're waiting for something for a pretty long time and not even sure if you're waiting in the right place or who will help you next. read more

Wow! Super surprised by the low ratings and reviews for this store, because I've only had great experiences the few times I've come in here. One time earlier this year, I bought Airtags and had a very helpful conversation with the store associate who helped me with battery replacement questions. Today, I was helped by Morgan, a young man in a foot cast, and he not only went above and beyond with his scope of knowledge in iPhones and Macbooks that we were inquiring about. He made his recommendations and was not pushy about selling us things we thought we needed but actually didn't need. He actually helped us save a pretty penny and recommended the right steps to fixing our issues. Happy to have walked out with a new Macbook Pro, and I feel as though I spent every dime well thanks to Morgan! Apple is usually a reliable company that is known for their in store experience. So I am disappointed to report a less than five star review. I came here to bring my mom so she can get a new iPhone and told her it would be easy based on the service that is usually awesome. Today it was not. We got there at 10:30am and no greeter approached us as they seemed to be too busy talking to themselves. After finally getting the attention of someone we were informed that they only had 3 sales specialists (I counted close to 20 employees in the store) and that we had to make a reservation. Already upset we agreed to an appointment at 11 am and went to a coffee shop to wait. We can back at 11. This time a greeter with an attitude checked us in and asked us to wait by the table with all the phones. After repeatedly asking on status a sales person met us at the table at 11:20 am. Once Alex arrived, the famous service returned. He walked my mom through the process and helped her select the best plan option and phon for her. He accepted the trade in and got her a great deal on that. He even put the screen protector on the phone for her and helped her get the new phone fully operational before we left. If it had not been for Alex, this would have been a 1 star review. Apple you are better than this. Do better next time. read more

I came here to get a new MacBook and also to learn how to transfer the stuff from my old MacBook to my new one. The process was very orderly. I got lucky and got a street spot right in front of the store basically. Reservations are required so if you don't make one ahead of time if your lucky then you can make one there it'll just likely be a while before its time for your reservation. I came during an off-peak time so I was able to schedule a reservation for an hour after I arrived. They suggest getting in line 15 minutes prior to scheduled reservation so I just sat in my car and waited it out. Before getting in line they have someone there asking your covid pre-screening questions and verifying your reservation time. There were also spots lined along the sidewalk denoting where patrons were to stand in line. They were also monitoring the number of people in the store at one time. I wish I could remember the young gentleman's name who helped me with my MacBook purchase. He was very informative and insight and made my purchase a breeze. He also informed me of how to transfer the data from my old MacBook to my newly purchased one. I would definitely come back to this location due to the efficiency. read more

Thank you to Edwin, for his wonderful assistance in purchasing a MacBook for my ManBaby. The order process was easy, with getting my email confirmation a few minutes later & a pick up time right after. Walking into the store wasn't as user-friendly, many employees buzzing around, yet not offering welcoming vibes. My on-line ordering experience & Edwin's customer service washed out those vibes. You have to show your ID (absolutely), endure a quick wait to receive your product, ask questions if need be & out the door you go. Added benefit in dropping $1250, was the free trial with Disney+ for a year, which can have up to six users. I also got 6% cash back since I used my Apple Credit Card. Moving forward a week later, my ManBaby needed an adapter for his external drives, I placed another order online while in Atlanta, & again another easy process. I went to this store to get my watch checked out because it stopped working. I had a 5:45pm appointment, showed up at that time, and was checked in. The kind person that checked me in shared I would be next. He then offered me potential options if my watch was broken, and I said to be honest it was hundreds of dollars. I'm not replacing it at this time. Ten minutes pass, then twenty. Once i hit thirty i called someone over and they said it looked like it would be at least another ten (after showing a co coworker their iPad and them having a discussion that I overheard). It was obvious we were lowest priority, consistently moved lower down their list as others walked in because I wouldn't be purchasing anything. Another ten minutes pass. Someone walks over, tells me my watch has a crack and that's why it's no longer waterproof, and then tells me it's out if warranty so I may as well get a new one (which wasn't wrong considering the crazy price to fix). Forty minutes, that was the result. And I was told that in 30 seconds. Funny thing is I do need a new laptop and two new iPads over the next few months. I won't be heading to this location after this experience. If they can't respect all customers, even those who aren't spending money, they won't get my business. read more

I love this apple store! I've purchased many Apple items from this location inclusive of my latest iPad and Mac. I recently came here March 2020 to purchase a Mac and the support specialist assigned to me was super helpful in selecting a Mac that would meet my needs. He even alerted me to a company discount that my company had with Apple which I had no idea about which let me save a few hundred dollar on my purchase. I wish I had known about the company discount 10 years ago I would've saved a ton of money on all my purchases! 10/10 would recommend this location, technicians are super nice and willing to help out and never try to upsell you on anything! read more

Five stars for the Apple Store at Bethesda Row! Admittedly, Ive passed by this location several times (usually on my way to pick up cupcakes), but today I happened to be in the area, and instead of making a trip up 270 to the Apple store in a nearby mall, and I conveniently turned the corner and arrived at the Apple Store in Bethesda Row. I was promptly and cordially greeted by a someone who checked me in. I literally stood in the outside line for less than 5 mins before being personally escorted inside to my sales assistant Richard. Richard, who is fabulous and wears a plastic mustache clipped on to the mask, was extremely helpful and knowledgeable! I attempted to purchase my item with an Apple gift card already credited on my apple ID account on my phone, however, customers can't use this form of payment within the store (who knew??). Anyhoo, it was another Apple associate, Gordon, to the rescue! He advised me to purchase my item online, and opt in for an in-store pickup. And even though you have to sign up for a pickup time (usually 3hrs after the purchase), Gordon advised me my purchase would be ready within 30 mins, but to check back at the store once I receive my confirmation email. Long story short: I literally got my item in less than 10 mins after purchase, and it was handed to me while I waited in a separate outside line dedicated for in-store pick ups. Overall, Everyone was efficient, professional, and had great energy!! The tech support was terrible because they were not responsible with their job. My AirPods weren't working, so I sent them in last week. Today, I picked up my AirPods Pro, and they still don't work. When I asked the staff why the AirPods weren't connecting to my phone, they told me to charge them for 30 to 60 minutes. However, after charging them for two hours, they still don't work. The tech support at Apple 4860 in Bethesda has wasted my time, and they didn't even check the AirPods properly before returning them to me. I'm now confused as to whether they even repaired my AirPods after keeping them for a few days. read more

The staff -- at least some of them -- were snarky and condescending When I followed someone (who I didn't realize was an employee) in the door at almost 9am, I was immediately decended upon by two security guards. I was firmly escorted out as though I had planned a jail break. Once in, I explained my problem to a young woman greeter. Eventually the problem was resolved, and although she provided little real help, I thanked her. She just turned her back and walked away. When I repeated my thank you, she turned around, rolled her eyes, and said You're Welcome, as though I didn't deserve her time or attention. It appears that at least some of the young staff assume that all people older are clueless and not worthy of the same warm reception they give to Apple's younger customers. If Apple is serious about the "Inclusion and Diversity" they promote, they need to make clear to their employees that this applies to older customers as well as ethnic and other minorities. ... not to mention that I had just spent $1,200 dollars in their store. read more

Apple has significantly altered its in-store experience in response to the pandemic. No more crowded stores filled with people hanging around and playing with the devices. Also, technical support appointments are very limited so if you see an opening like I did, you better jump on it quickly! Once you arrive at this location, you now have to line up outside to check in, get your temperature taken and answer a list of COVID-related questions. You are let into the store once you pass this entrance test and directed to a socially distant area to meet with your technician. My Genius Bar appointment started on time and my technician was personable and knowledgeable. He quickly diagnosed the issue with my machine. Unfortunately, Apple no longer carries the internal speakers that need to be replaced; however, my technician outlined all of my options for moving forward including going to an authorized Apple retailer to have new speakers installed. Pleasant experience at Apple as always. Their customer service is top notch! read more

I walked in prior to closing, though without appointment, considering it was Monday night thought I could get attended for my minor iphone questions for my 70 year old father. The security told me to talk to the MANAGER, when approach her saying Good Evening, she completely ignores me after noticing my approach. She continues avoiding eye contact and walks away. My computer came damaged and I didn't realize it right away and Naz was my technician and she was an angel. She put me at ease and was so sweet and helpful and switched out my computer with a new one. Another technician Kelvin was also super helpful and plugged my computer into a faster cord to get it to transfer faster. I arrived at the store 9pm Thursday Night and wasn't helped till 11am the next morning! ....hahahahhaha What if I truly did complain about that? Wow, that'd be a lot! I did camp out at the Apple Store for the release of the Iphone 6. I did it for the the release of the Iphone 5 and had a wonderful time: I made friends, I spoke about cool apps, all the features on the new phone etc. That time I was 7th in line. I had gotten there at 5pm the evening before. This time, when I got there at 9pm the evening before, I was 47th in line. Because they changed some procedures up from the previous year... the experience was somewhat insufferable- well, especially in the morning. It just came out that Apple has more money than G-d... I mean the US treasury. They apparently have 160 billion in cash flow. A few things that you can do for these big once a year releases of your products. And even getting partners could help you in this... maybe a certain review site... I dont know ;). - Put a restroom somewhere outside of the store. A porto potty is fine. Or one of those portable restroom trailers... something. People were resorting to ... well, I don't even want to talk about it. You're aware that there are gonna be hundreds of people waiting outside your store- the least you could do is throw a restroom out there. - Serving coffee & water in the morning is nice... but Nutrigrain bars for breakfast. .. Let's spring for just one step up: some donuts/ breakfast sandwiches/ something with sustenance. - This year the people who preordered online got into a separate line in the morning to pick up their phone. It was just so demoralizing. Because there were so many of them, they made the campout line move soooooo much slower into the store once it had opened. - Once people had picked up their chairs, the 50 or so people behind me who were trying to move forward moved into a giant clump. There was still like an hour till the store opened. Having some more stantions would have been a good idea for the morning. - The most frustrating thing ever was waiting in line for 12 hours, and then getting into another line in the store. For the sake of all that is holy- please do not put me in another line. The great aspects of my campout this year were the employees. Especially the employee Jason who helped me out in the store. He was AWESOME! I mean, they really have some special people that work there. The entire campout experience this year I would rate a 2 stars. Especially because how slow the line moved once the store was open. I was number 47 in line, and I had to wait 2 and a half hours to get into the store once it opened. Wayyyy too long. I arrived 20-30 min late to have my watch battery changed. The clerk, Mo, told me that I'd need to physically stand in the store for 20 min for the next appt. I asked if I could just drop off my watch and pick it up this evening. He said he'd ask his manager. The manager, Reek, was brought over. I asked if I could drop off the watch and come by this evening to get it after it was fixed. He said "no, you were late to your appt and have to wait for another appt." I explained that I understood that I had to wait for a new appt. I was asking for a manager, because managers have the authority to make common-sense exceptions. Reek insisted that it was my fault for being late and wielded the little power he had to make my experience as awful as he could. Reek was prematurely promoted to be a manger, bc managers make decisions that are not scripted out for them and regurgitated robotically. Reek, reeks of incompetence. Apple Stores usually set the standard for customer service and this location is no exception. The moment you walk in you're greeted by a rep and asked what brought you into the store. They then add you to the queue, which usually takes way less time than they tell you. I was told it would be a 10 minute wait, but really it was 4 minutes. Way to surprise and delight me, Apple!
