I know quite a few that have been put out of business because of the chain home improvement stores. When you go to Merrifield, you will be bathed in the amazing living variety that can be brought to your home, for indoors and outdoors. The selection is beyond anything I've ever seen, and the staff clearly loves the business. You can browse hundreds of plant and flower options indoors And they also have an amazing selection of patio adornments. The best was my experience today. I needed a garden hose adapter. Sounds simple enough, but this is so uncommon that all of the local chains didn't have anything, and one young man in an orange apron Ron suggested I just get it on Amazon. I stopped here at Merrifield, and they also did not have it in stock. But the gentleman at the counter Suggested that he'd be happy to make one for me if I wouldn't mind waiting for a few minutes. And he jumped into action, grabbing the hose and fittings that he needed and manufactured what I needed for me on the spot. That his old-fashioned service deserves a lot more than just five stars. I've heard great things about Merrifield and though I've visited before, I hadn't bought anything. I took some pics of my lawn, some of the current grass/weeds/plants growing and went to their help desk. It was mid-week, so not too busy. Craig was working the desk and so I don't bury the lead... he was AMAZING. I explained what I was trying to do, that I really knew nothing, and though I had done a little research, I didn't want to trust everything I had read/watched. He walked me through my options. I don't care much about what is growing, just that we have good coverage. Clover was something I was interested in. He explained the clover options as well as some low-maintenance grass options. He even spent a lot of time helping me understand about aerating since it was something I wanted to know more about. I decided to go with grass and clover, hoping a mix might balance between lawn and something for the pollinators. As the spots were relatively small, he said I could just hand spread, especially with the clover seeds being so tiny. While prices are a little higher than the big box stores, looking into this, the products seem to be of a higher quality. Luckily my issue was sort of small to start with so I felt it was a good investment.

I came specifically to look at their books and the prices of books was amazing. I brought a novel home for $3.99. They have a lot of kitchen and home goods, rugs and small selection of garden things. I looked at the prices of some of their home appliances and it was fairly priced. What put me off about this place was the restroom mainly. It was so dirty, and not maintained. I blame mostly customers for throwing stuff on the ground including dirty toilet paper, who does that? There were not a lot of employees but someone should check in on the bathrooms because it was so gross. The employee at the checkout was so sweet and welcoming though, so I think I would come back if I'm in the area again.

I knew I was getting it as soon as I saw it. Even the pillows on the sofa come with it. Ali walked me over to the coffee bar, and we sat to discuss and sign documents. I try to get there early before a lot is taken. Staff is great and so is the variety of items in the store. Also, LOVE the rewards program they have as well. Great way to save even more money. Only thing I will say is they need a check out line sign that says "line starts here" because it's confusing if you have one side with people and the other side with another line. Some people I've seen wait in the very middle where you'd think it would start and then people end up cutting in line and no one ever says anything. That's the only thing I will say should happen...a "line starts here" sign in the middle. That way everyone gets in line and knows exactly where to go. Overall store and staff are excellent. Give a 4 out of 5 star rating only because of the line issue at checkout. Without that I would give it a 5 out of 5.
