Finally, I had a Saturday night off, so my wife and I were able to take the tour! Jeff was our guide, and he was great! Not only did I learn about some of the spirits people have seen like "Emma", who has been spotted in a few places, but I also learned some interesting history about New Braunfels, like the tunnel system which was use for bootleggers a long time ago. You pick from a customized menu for OffRhodes customers with a 2-topping pizza/salad/drink menu and receive your beer tasting glass. The pizza place gets their ingredients at the local farmers market. Definitely recommend the fresh mozzarella + bacon crumbles as toppings. So good! The tour bus that brings you to each location has plush seating areas with plenty of room. It was cold outside when we went, but I believe when it's not sub arctic the bus is AC'd. We stopped at three breweries: The Faust Brewing Company, Guadalupe Brewing, & New Braunfels Brewing Company. Got to see first hand the production process. We loved trying unique small batch beers you can't purchase in stores. Apparently I've been drinking beers that taste like skunk water so this was nice. Today was the worst day we've ever had, with them waited for over 30 minutes for the buses to arrive. They never did another company had to come and rescue everyone, not to.Mention the fact that it was cold and rainy outside. Seems like people don't wanna work anymore. A clean motor coach 3. An on-time driver 4. A driver that knows where the hell he is going Of my experience with Star Shuttle, it's A+ on all four things. It starts with Juan Ibarra, who was our driver for 2 weeks as we toured San Antonio, Austin, and The Hill County of Texas. He was superb. First of all, he was just NICE. Good conversationalist, pleasant, helped people off with a hand (when needed), was always in a good mood. Actually chimed in with some interesting facts along the way. Second of all, he knows the area like the back of his hand. We had to get through San Antonio's morning rush-hour traffic. Instead of losing an hour like everyone else, he took us on short cuts that took less than half the time. Third of all, ALWAYS on time. I will always have this image in my head of his Star Shuttle motor coach just pulllllllling up to the sidewalk in from of the Bullock Museum just as we are coming out. Fourth, he's a good driver. He negotiated the streets of San Antonio and our multiple stops. Our hotel in Austin (the Hyatt Place at Austin airport) wasn't built with motor coaches in mind. With a max degree of difficulty, he got us in to the hotel front. And then, there's the coach. Comfortable, flexible, clean, and lovely views. The sound system and technology hook-up (HDMI, etc.) was great. A bathroom, but nobody really used it with all the stops we had. Absolutely top-flight experience. Juan was amazing. Oct 28 is Emma's Birthday... so Magnolia Hotel decided to open the doors to celebrate! Free tours…read morefrom 10am-2pm! I just happened to see something come through my newsfeed over Fb, I bookmarked it, found my schedule open, so headed east to check it out. Emma likes to play in her room... and who doesn't like to play with little spirits?! I didn't know the history of the Magnolia Hotel so was totally clueless walking in the door... Magnolia Hotel has been on Ghost Adventures on Travel Channel. Also, Magnolia Hotel is ~not~ a hotel, it is now a personal residence. To my delight, I was able to hear stories of the old hotel, tales of it's past residents many of which have never left, and how Magnolia Hotel was discovered by the owners. Jim & Erin saved the Magnolia from being demolished... they single handedly have saved a part of Seguin history!... and some haunted history at that! I spent about two hours just hanging out, looking around, and people watching... talked to some interesting people, listening to questions and answers... all very interesting. Did I have an experience? I had something creepy go up the back of my left neck and skull as I was talking to a ghost hunter in the original dining area where the owner was sitting. I also felt some weird things around the house... but something I brushed off at first until I started listening to others talk about it... when you first come up the stairs, it feels really heavy. I originally brushed it off as I just walked up the stairs... but no, go back and you feel it... and everyone was feeling it!!! Emma was playing in her room. One of the guides said just a few minutes earlier, a little girl got scratched. Then someone told her that they saw the door knob in the pink bathroom turn back and forth. The owner, Erin, said this house is more active during the day than at night. Wow! The owners Jim & Erin host a ghost tour in their home on occasion, which books up months in advance. The tour last about 2 hours with in-depth stories which might also include a spiritual reading from the Erin at the end (but only if deceased wish to come forward). Erin has written Haunted New Braunfels, Haunted Seguin, and soon to be released Haunted Magnolia House. All proceeds go towards restoring the Magnolia Hotel. I can not wait to go on their ghost tour!
