First off, I've wanted to do this ghost tour for years. I'm a musician, and I perform regularly in New Braunfels, so I see the tour happening many weekends, but couldn't ever attend due to my gigs. Finally, I had a Saturday night off, so my wife and I were able to take the tour! Jeff was our guide, and he was great! Not only did I learn about some of the spirits people have seen like "Emma", who has been spotted in a few places, but I also learned some interesting history about New Braunfels, like the tunnel system which was use for bootleggers a long time ago. Very fun and informative ghost tour of New Braunfels. It is really more of a glimpse into this amazing town's history as a German settlement. UYE Haunted Pub Crawl Sat 11 Feb 18 Valentine Theme: Till Death Do Us Part is for Quitters The hostess with mostest took her own challenge (UYE Challenge 2018) and invited Yelpers to join her and her Valentine for our "Date Night" as an Unofficial Yelp Event. I was even able to arrange a 15% group discount for us so that was cool of NBGT! I made an Yelp event page, posted a thread in both San Antonio and Austin Yelp Talk, and spent some time sending compliments to everyone in the local area to come out and join us for this last minute UYE. Ya I know, I'm a planner too, but sometimes last minute is how hubby and I roll... Our tour guides were Kathryn, Anita and Anita's husband Rick. I enjoyed meeting them and picking their brains through out the night. Anita is a sensitive so she's able to see the spirts on occasion. Kathryn not so much. They are great story tellers and with the assistance of tablets, so they are able to show us pictures to go along with those tales. They had our full attention most of the time, lol, you know we ~are~ drinking, it's a pub crawl y'all! Kathryn and Anita are best friends and school teachers so of course they have done all their research as well as know how to share stories while corralling a rowdy bunch of pub crawlers. Actually it's Rick that kept us in line and on time. He's the real brains of the operation. Ha! ;-) Haunted Pub Crawl is $30 plus drinks but totally worth it considering it they are literally spending 3 1/2 hours with us... plus you get a koozie ~and~ the chance to win a T-shirt or other prizes at the end. First stop: Lone Star Lounge... We met starting at 5:30pm at Lone Star Lounge. The tour starts promptly at 6pm heading down to the basement. *Note* A few day earlier in Yelp Talk, we were discussing local haunted history... and phone app spirit boxes, so I downloaded one that was suggested. Well it didn't really work well since you need to listen to the tour guides and my app is noisy. I couldn't do both. So I tried to close it and it wouldn't let me close it, so I wasn't able to pics with my new fancy phone. Then I grabbed hubby's phone to take pics in areas that guides said spirits have been seen. As the rest of the group was leaving, I started snapping away, then decided to turn on the flash and every single pic I was taking, there were orbs flying around like crazy. I was freaking. Anita came over and witness this phenomenon. It was crazy cool. Unfortunately there was too much delay between flash and shutter so none of the pics showed orbs. I should have been taking pics w/my new phone, not the his old phone, darn app challenges... Grrr... Second stop: The Phoenix Saloon... yep, that was it's original name!... and guess where we went, yep, down to the basement. We spent a good amount of time down there as well doing a little dowsing experiment. 3rd stop: Black Whale Pub... shots were on special! 4th stop: The Oyster Bar... more shots were on special! These are great shots, get these shots! Brain Hemorrhage & The Breakfast Shot. See pics! 5th stop: The Faust Hotel & Brewpub. The Faust has named their Pale Ale after the former owners ghost called Walter's Ghostly Haunted Brew, so of course we had to get one! This is where we take a quiz on our smart phones. This was fun and I won second place! I brought home a pint of beer from New Braunfels Brewing Company. Heck Yeah! ... and that's not all... 6th stop: We were given a card for a free mini flight at New Braunfels Brewing Company which is open till 10 so we had time to head over there. After the tour, hubby and I were the only ones from the tour that made the trek a few blocks away. A mini flight is a taste of two beers. Well, we had two cards so we tasted four beers... and we ended up buying a glass of the pickle beer. Yes, two thumbs up for the pickle beer! ... and then we went back to The Oyster Bar to see our friend "Bugs" who plays DJ on Sat nights... and we also ordered the Slider appetizers for dinner which was really good... man, this place is hopping! UYE Haunted Pub Crawl turned out to be the prefect "Valentine Date Night"! Hubby and I both enjoyed learning more about our home town! *Note* Plan to stay over night at The Faust Hotel. Don't drink and drive folks. This was a fun addition to our trip. Run by some school teachers during the summer, they are so knowledgeable and get true ghost stories while providing history - so it's a little spooky but overall you're learning about New Braunfels while on the trip! Anita was our tour guide when we went and while walking between stories she would chat and share experiences she has had as well as mini stories. Kathryn was our tour guide and she was great! The tour was entertaining and extremely informative, which we all enjoyed. It was not scary because you don't get to go into any of the buildings during the tour, but stories keep you interested throughout the walk. Highly recommended for anyone interested in New Braunfels history or ghost stories.The tour is educational yet spooky fun for us believers. The guides were friendly, fun and most important, knowledgeable - someone has done some serious homework. They chose interesting tales, some scary, funny, sad, old and even young ghost activity. They show associated pictures on their electronic devices during the tour to help visualize some of the stories. The walk was easy because there are plenty of stops where sitting is available while the story is told. I appreciate the historical lessons because I'm new to NB so it makes my time downtown even more enjoyable... now I know what buildings Emma haunts or sometimes I look for Mr Von Coll while having coffee. My family and I recently did the tour and we had a great time! I loved the stories of historical figures in this town that met a tragic demise and the personal accounts of their known ghostly activity. The guides did an awesome job keeping everyone excited and involved. A great mix of informative history and fun paranormal excitement! Aside from the information in the tour I thought it was a great way to become more familiar with all the cool places and nightlife in New Braunfels. We went to 3 bars (5 total) I had not yet taken the initiative to visit and it was a GREAT way to see them all for the first time. I can't forget to mention all the great deals at each bar - it made our night out very affordable! Total rip off. I thought a ghost tour would involve a story teller and interaction with the places the guide was taking about. Nope. The lady who was our guide spoke to us in the exact same tone of voice the whole time - that fake excited cheerleader voice. Purchasing tickets was deceiving. It listed a reasonable 11 available slots. We show up and there are almost 30 people for the tour, including a bridal party that brought open containers along. The amount of people on the tour was too many for a night time tour in the dark on busy streets. It felt very close to traffic which made me uneasy. Overpriced too. Tickets 20 bucks a pop and my fiance and I walked away within the first 10 minutes. Save your money. read more

I really enjoyed the tour we took with the whole family! There is very interesting history in New Braunfels and ghost stories. We had some weird sightings with flickering lights on two occasions! Anita was super great and she let us stop at this bakery for a water/ restroom break. Yeah I guess $20 a head is kind of expensive but people have to make their money somehow. Be prepared to walk though obviously and I would recommend bringing water because it is Texas. read more

The tour guides and tour is too fun! My friend and I went on a Saturday night in August and had a blast! Despite the Texas heat, the tour starts off around 6 p.m. which is great because you're less likely to have a heat stroke while walking. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and have fun personalities! There is a total of 6 stops I think and at each one, there was some neat drink special for the group. I'm a local and my friend is from out of town and we both enjoyed all the history and story information. We had a blast getting to go inside of the haunted places, and trying out different drinks too. We even made more new friends on the tour!
