I am not one to write reviews but far too often I see truly exceptional restaurants injured by the random disgruntled patron. So I wanted to offer some thoughts as a long term, satisfied, repeat customer of Atami Sushi. I submit this review as a person who has eaten at Atami nearly 100 times (lunch, dinners, catering for parties, etc). Not because it is the only option for Japanese cuisine in the area but because I have chosen it over the half dozen other options available every time I'm in the mid for excellent Asian cuisine. In a word, Atami is superb. The service is always wonderful, the atmosphere is inviting, the staff and owners are personable and make you feel like a guest as opposed to simply a customer. The food is always fresh with creative specials and limited edition homemade dishes that are magical. Whether your taste is for sushi or hibachi, they don't disappoint. Such a welcomed change from the often cookie cutter, Americanized menus at many Asian restaurants. So, 5 stars for Atami based on countless experiences (and hopefully countless more! ). read more

Without a doubt the best Sushi restaurant in all of Lackawanna County. The rest don't compare. Let's start with the appetizers. The Jalapeno Yellowtail is fresh and delicious. The crunchy Kani salad with mango is cool and refreshing. Next try the rock shrimp, lightly tempura battered shrimp with a fabulous coconut sauce. Our favorite is the Lady Finger. Mango avocado crab and cucumber wrapped in seared salmon. I have had it for an appetizer and dessert! For the main course is sushi of course! Tuna, yellowtail, white tuna, salmon, and the best, scallop. Melts in your mouth like butter. If you like rolls try the Zen roll. Special rolls every night! I can't believe I read bad review about customer service. John and his staff treat everybody like family. Trust me. Go to Atami Sushi and go often. You will not be disappointed! read more

I'm not exactly a professional food critic but my meal was amazing. I had the sushi and sashimi lunch, my choice roll being the eel and avocado roll. My dad had the same, but his choice roll was the California roll. It was good, but the eel and avocado was one of the best I've ever had. I definitely recommend. Plus, the place itself had a nice vibe to it. There's an ocean theme going on and the restaurant design is overall pretty cool. The service was nice as well, our waitress was sweet and they wished us a nice day as we left. The restaurant is just a really likable place, and I loved my lunch there. read more

Came here for lunch with my aunt, I ordered the sushi and sashimi lunch and told the waitress I'm a big fan of salmon. Oh boy, did they deliver and absolutely satisfy my craving. The fish was fresh and fatty just how I like it. My aunt got the two roll lunch special and she enjoyed both of her rolls. We also ordered the boom boom shrimp appetizer, but unfortunately, we never got that, the waitress compensated us with an order of edamame to take home. Overall, had a great experience and I will definitely be back for more salmon and to try the boom boom shrimp! read more

I love sushi so I ordered and had a friend pick up food for me. I ordered this new special roll called the aloha roll. Even though the combo was definitely unique and something I've never tried before, it was delicious. We plan to come inside and order in next time as I've heard the atmosphere is cozy and the service is nice. My husband and I LOVE this place. We travel alot and have never found better, fresher sushi. The staff here is amazing. Always accommodating, always friendly and always attentive. Some of our favorite menu items are seaweed salad, shumai, shrimp tempura roll and spicy tuna avocado roll, altho we have NEVER had anything bad! I can't say enough good things about Atami. Atami Sushi is THE place to go if you're looking for great food and great service. The food is delicious and the presentation is outstanding. John (the manager) was very accommodating for our entire visit and frequently checked in to make sure our party (of six) was satisfied. Try the tempura banana dessert, it is to die for! I went there a few times recently and thoroughly enjoyed my meal each time. The first time, however, I ordered the New York Strip Steak instead of the plain ol' Hibachi cow slab (steak). Despite this error made by moi, I still had a great evening and even got a little action afterwards. 10/10 would recommend. read more

We have been going to Atami twice a month. It is fresh and tasety There are daily specials - be sure to ask about them when you order.We normally get our rolls for take-out and request brown rice without any problems. Love the spicy tuna and the Philly roll. Prices are reasonable. Staff is pleasant. read more

This place is amazing. Whether you get the sushi, or one of their cooked menu items like the teriyaki or hibachi. They always have fantastic sushi specials, too. I like to experiment and try different things, and I have honestly never had something here I didn't like. Highly recommended! read more

I love rolls!!!! This place serve all kinds of rolls and that's why I love this place. Their fish is fresh and tastes great. Try the lobster tempura roll!! Their price is reasonable, although the place is not fancy, but I often do take outs. They are pretty fast as well. read more

Atami is absolutely the best sushi around. We order from here at least once every couple weeks and we constantly find ourselves new favorites. When we dine in, the waitresses are all wonderful and attentive. Atami is the ONLY sushi place we will order from. 5 stars! read more

What a great addition to eateries in Clarks Summit! Atami is a comfortable place to go for good sushi. Their daily roll specials are always a hit and the prices are right! Lunch is the best deal by far. You can spend more at McDonald's. Don't forget its byob. read more

Best Japanese in town. Owner is super nice. We had pork cutlets (Don katsu)and teriyaki red snapper which were delicious. Sushi and spicy tuna roll were also great. Highly recommend this place. BTW super inexpensive beer. Imports only $2. read more
