I highly recommend stopping into this place for three reasons…read more One, you need a serotonin boost Two, you're a tourist and want something very New York and actually unique to the city that you won't really find anywhere else Three, you're a collector or thinking about getting into retro video games Video Games New York has been around forever and I really hope it stays that way for a long time. It honestly feels like one of the last spots in the city where you can walk in and see this huge, slightly chaotic collection of games and consoles all in one place. The Nintendo 64 section is probably my favorite part. They have so many different variations it's kind of nostalgic overload in the best way. And they've also started adding video game soundtrack vinyls which is really dope and fits the vibe perfectly. The staff is also super cool and really knowledgeable without being overbearing. Just don't go in only to browse. Try to grab something if you can, even if it's just one of the anime themed sodas or a small piece of merch. Places like this really feel like they deserve the support so they can stick around.

What a nostalgic place for videogame lovers. It's a tiny shop, but it's packed from top to bottom…read morewith vintage, rare, imported, and new games too. They also buy your used items for credit or cash. With the Knicks win, they had a video of KAT visiting here with all his nostalgic for videogames. The husband definitely found so much joy being here and the collection is quite a hidden gem. The people who work here are very knowledgeable.

I truly come in here just to waste time. From the employees I can chat with about random games or…read morefavorite anime characters (Rengoku....duh). It is riding on nostalgia. There's no market for game stores specifically besides GameStop. Big applause for your staff that have to deal with unpleasant beggars from Union square and scammers. I'd say I wish they had security but you do have that big Boulder of a manager. That's a start. There's games lol. Nothing much to say there since you can get your games online for current systems. Con: not enough Rengoku merch

I have bought two, count them, two PS2s from GameStop. Neither of them work…read more The first one was somehow sold to me despite being region locked for Japan. The second one, one of the controller ports doesn't work. My son figured it out in about 30 seconds. But nobody is spending that time at GameStop to evaluate whether or not these machines are working. Because I am 0 for 2, and probably going to be 0 for 3 unless the stars align. Oh, but there's a Guarantee! Well, what has it gotten me? The most lackluster customer service you can imagine! Offers to replace #2 with whatever comes next! Meanwhile, my son, whose gift this was, has been iced out for about a month while the customer service team (probably the lowest bidder, on the RFP) uses AI to send me meaningless responses. Nobody really stepping up. Nobody thinking that sending somebody two broken machines is at least one too many. Nobody mortified that GS seems to buy used machines without even giving them a 1 minute test. Support another retailer!
