If you're a Nintendo fan, the Nintendo New York store is more than just a retail shop. It's a nostalgia trip, a museum, and a photo opportunity all rolled into one. Every time we visit NYC, this is one of our must-stop destinations. Walking through the doors instantly brings back memories of decades spent playing Nintendo games. The store is packed with merchandise, including shirts, hoodies, hats, jackets, plushies, collectibles, accessories, and just about everything else a Nintendo fan could want. One of the best parts of the experience is the life-sized character displays. The giant Mario installation is incredibly fun, and there are plenty of opportunities to take photos with iconic characters throughout the store. Even if you're not planning to buy anything, the displays alone are worth seeing. Another highlight is the small museum-like display case featuring Nintendo hardware through the years. Seeing classic Game & Watch units, the original Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, DS systems, and other vintage hardware is a wonderful trip down memory lane. As someone who grew up with many of these systems, I spent a lot of time admiring that collection. The only reason I'm not giving an unqualified rave review is the large area dedicated to Switch demo stations. I completely understand why they're there, but it often feels like too much floor space is devoted to people standing around playing games they likely already own at home. During busy periods, that area creates congestion and interrupts the flow of shoppers trying to browse the merchandise. Personally, I'd love to see some of that space converted into additional displays, collectibles, or exclusive merchandise. That said, it's a minor quibble in an otherwise fantastic experience. Whether you're a lifelong Nintendo fan or just looking for something unique to do in Manhattan, Nintendo New York is absolutely worth a visit. I live in the neighborhood, stopped by with my two small dogs like I have plenty of times at other stores around here, and got kicked out because they weren't zipped into carriers. Not loose, not disruptive -- just walking on a leash like a normal dog in a normal city. It's 2026. Half the shops on this block are dog-friendly. Nintendo Store NY apparently missed the memo. Rigid, unwelcoming, and completely unnecessary. Won't be back. read more

This Nintendo store had some great product collection of Super Mario characters, including a giant status of Boozer. Whole first floor had stuff like apparels, toys, dolls, legos, stationary and many other accessories. On the second floor there were merchandise products for Zelda and couple of other popular games. There was several Nintendo Switch 2 demo gaming stations that let the visitors play different games for 10 minutes. There was Fifa game running a huge giant screen. They also had a display showing all historical versions of Nintendo gaming consoles. Items in the store were pricey as expected. I visited the ones in Japan, so I had to visit the one in NY! Great open spot, two floors with different merch sections for Super Mario, Splatoon, Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong, Pikmin, Kirby, Animal Crossing, and Pokémon. There are exclusive Lady Liberty Pikachus here. Plus there are switches for kids to play Mario Kart and compete against each other. Also appreciate that depending on which merch you get, you get a shopping bag that matches that theme. read more

Stopped by for a quick visit while in Rockefeller Center. Definitely worth popping in, even if you're short on time. A millennial's dream! This store brought back so many happy memories of me. I got my first gaming console, a Super Nintendo in the dark ages of 1994 lol. Anyhoo, on to the store, you can find all things Nintendo here, there are games, keychains, dolls, you name it. Upstairs you can play some of the games. I purchased some keychains, my daughter found this cute Kirby notebook. We visited on Saturday and the store was super busy. The staff here were very friendly. I hope to return soon. read more

I may be playing my Steam Deck a lot these days, but Nintendo NY is still so magical to me. The first floor's layout really hasn't changed much, primarily having Mushroom Kingdom everything (Mario, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, etc.). The little check-in for Switch is still there, and the whole wall of physical games and accessories. It never gets old hearing my favorite songs playing on the overhead speaker. And whether you go up the elevator or take the stairs, the decor that they have there on your way up is just... fantastic. Now, the second floor pretty much has everything outside of Mario, and allll the demos. I was there around the time the Switch 2 came out, and those demos were poppin!!! It's the busiest I've seen the store in quite a while. As always, no matter how much I try, I simply cannot leave the store empty-handed. I was in Cali just weeks before the San Fran location opened up, but I am seriously looking forward to going there. read more

One of my favorite store located in Rockefeller Center. It has all the cool Nintendo merchandise. The prices range from reasonable to expensive, depending on your budgets. It is Nintendo after all. The employees are friendly when I interact with them at the cash register. The store is always busy. Sometimes you can find a long line depending on the season or holidays. Such a cool spot to visit for any gamer! They have some really cool merch that I have never seen (and at much more affordable prices than you'd think - this isn't the Disney store and it shows). They have some really cool custom pieces that you can take pictures with, including a giant Bowser statue, and even Switches on the top floor that you can trial games before you buy! Nintendo is very nostalgic for me as the Super Nintendo was my first gaming console with more later on. Due to the holidays this store was incredibly hectic. Neither my wife or I had intentions on buying anything and this was more of a just checking it out since we have never visited a Nintendo store. They had a variety of offerings that included all of the beloved franchises they are known for. For the holiday season they did have some awesome looking Pokemon winter village decorations. Besides all of the merch available seasonal and not they have some statues of Mario on the flag pole, Bowser and others for photo ops. Also upstairs they have a gaming area as well as a screen that you can interact on the floor to interact with Mario. Solid place to visit for a nostalgic visit for non-kids but just as exciting for the kids to visit as well! read more

Totally different experiences on the two days we came here. On a Saturday-SO SO BUSY and had to wait in a line to get in. We ended up leaving after a brief look at the up and downstairs because it was so busy. We then came during the week near when it opened and it was AMAZING. Much less busy and we were able to look at everything. Workers were nice and making sure everything was well stocked. There is an up and downstairs and some cool statue/figures. The upstairs has an area where you can game. I found the prices to be VERY fair given the fact they are official Nintendo items. You do have to pay for a bag but it's like 5 cents for paper and $1.50 or so for a reusable one, so not bad. We ended up going a little ham in the store because they had so many cool things I've never seen sold at other places or online. Definitely worthwhile to check out--just make sure you plan the time you go accordingly. read more

Haters gonna hate because it's Nintendo, but I'm glad we even have a Nintendo store in NYC and I feel bad for kids who couldn't grow up and feel the magic of playing Super Mario World for the very first time! This store has gone through a lot of small updates over the years, but Bowser and Mario on the flagpole is still there, waiting to take a selfie with you. They have tons of toys and plushies, including Yoshis in so many colors, and I love that they have a little museum now with the older systems on the second floor, including quite a few of their limited editions. They often have the latest first party games you can demo and I believe you get some Nintendo points if you scan your account QR code at purchase. read more

If you're a Nintendo fan and in NYC, this is a store not to miss. We stopped in while walking around Rockefeller Center and while it was busy it didn't seem too crazy. There are all sorts of unique items to the NYC store along with plushies, T-shirts, jackets, and even a cool display of old Nintendo systems from the original NES to Gameboy and the Japanese handheld games too. We ended up getting a few T-shirts and the line was not too long to get checked out. --------TL;DR-------- PROS: great location, huge selection and lots of fun props and the Link statue is legendary. CONS: it can get crowded if there are a lot of tourists around and of course it's so popular it might turn into long lines if you're there at the wrong time. It's been almost 10 years since my last visit to the Nintendo store so I thought it might be best to do an update. My favorite part of my previous visit was the display they had on the 2nd floor that featured every Nintendo system that the company had put out. I was really excited to see it updated with the systems that had come out since then, but I was disappointed to see that this was completely gone. There were a few small display cases for a few special events/anniversaries/etc., but this location has clearly gone from a place to experience/honor the history of Nintendo to a straight up retail store. There is nothing different between this location and, say, the new store in San Francisco that just opened up & I visited a month earlier. It was, if I'm being honest, a bit disappointing. I get that this is ironic for me to say because I mentioned in my previous review that I wish it had more merch. (I do think my previous 3 star rating might have been a bit too harsh). However, the pendulum swing is so far in the opposite direction. I really think there is a great middle ground they could find to both honor Nintendo & its history and sell some great exclusive merchandise. It's great to see that this store is evolving. I hope that the next time I come here (which hopefully will be in less than another 10 years), it will have improved. read more

Back in the 80s, we had Atari and Coleco. They seemed to hold their own in terms of popularity for quite some time. Not too long after Atari started to fizzle out, Nintendo was introduced to the world. Super Mario Brothers' popularity propelled Nintendo into the top spot for gaming systems/platforms. Nintendo New York has been on my list for a while now. I still have my Game Boy at home, so this whole store gave off a bit of a nostalgic vibe. Of course when you walk in, you'll hear all of the sound effects from various video games. You'll also see different statues of Mario etc which are perfect for photo ops. The top floor seems to be where most people could be found. They have a lot of plushies and apparel. The clothing and hats all have the Nintendo logo(s) on them as well as silk screens of Pikachu and characters from Super Mario Brothers. What I liked the most was the display cases that have all of the different systems that Nintendo has produced over the years. I was trying to see which ones that I still have at home as well as the ones that did not last as long as I would have liked. It amazes me to see just how far Nintendo has come when you think back to how it all started. Nintendo has been around for over 30 years. Their games have evolved with ever changing technology and updated graphics over time. Their products appeal to people from all age groups and have withstood the test of time. Nintendo NY is a modern place that is full of a lot of nostalgia. I am glad that we visited Nintendo NY because it brought back memories of playing video games night and day during my childhood. read more

I was really excited to check out this store on my visit in NYC. I personally play lots of Nintendo games growing up and even still sometimes play them as an adult. It is two stories with a very clean looking interior. Fun literally statues through the store of Nintendo characters to see. Definitely tons of cool merchandise that you probably could not get in other locations. A good example of this is their statue of liberty Pikachu! It seemed that they also had an area that was for testing out games before they are released. ((4.5 stars)) when I am in the Rockefeller Center area, the Nintendo store is often a stop--just cause. even though I barely game...it's just a great put-together shopping experience from the variety of the giant Nintendo character statues to displays of Nintendo consoles and handhelds of the past to non-gaming Nintendo branded merchandise. other than gift shopping for kids young and old, i snagged a hoodie from here that is so well-made and is a one of kind (haven't seen it rereleased since)...quality is never compromised in the items sold at this store even when they are non-gaming items. this store has insane foot traffic and gets crazy busy with tourists and locals alike, but it never feels claustrophobic because of the way the store is set up and the store does manage traffic when it is busy by setting up lines to go in. the staff is helpful and knowledgeable as i have asked for suggestions on gift ideas. anyway, if you're into Nintendo--come here. even you're not, stop by as it might kindle some energy from youthful energy from years long past. read more

This store is definitely one to check out! It is fantastically decorated with a few amazing sculptures of famous Nintendo characters (including Bower, Mario, Luigi and Toad), and they sell a lot of different types of merchandise which is all official and some only sold in this particular store. There are 2 floors and the second floor has a whole area where you can play games in real time and they are currently promoting the new Nintendo Switch 2. There is also a section dedicated to Legend of Zelda, and now Pokemon!!!! I snagged myself a blue yoshi, special pokemon, some special winter nintendo and pokemon gear (a beanie, scarf and gloves), and a Zelda hat and pen for my boyfriend as a souvenir. read more

They also have about 15 different stations you can play games at and one upstairs with a big projector screen. Boyfriend loves Nintendo and has come home with some cool t shirts, pins, key chains and more.
