A plastic part in the coolant line to the heater broke on our way up the Grapevine on Labor Day. Fortunately they were open (they were only one) and told us to tow our SUV to them. They could not get the replacement part because of the holiday, but were able to remove it and put in a workaround with a tee plus some hose and fittings to replace the broken part. The workaround is a permanent solution and fully replicates the function of the broken plastic part (no need to replace it with the original part. Their workaround cost less than the price of the OEM part and their price included the labor. So, we were on our way home again Thank you very much! read more

I have been taking my cars to him and they messed with my brakes and added a weird liquid in it and when I was driving my brakes stopped working for two minutes and I took it to another place and told me my brakes were tampered with and on top of it i had been paying 85 for oil changes for two years and they weren't even doing it. I talked to him and said sorry but when I went to get reimbursed for what i paid to clean that liquid from my brakes, he told me I won't be responsible. After a 1.5 hrs drive on I5, a caution light up with the error message of " Charging malfunction" on the dashboard at 5am. I got the information from the Chervon staff of the Alex's shop is just right across the freeway. The mechanic was there at the Auto shop and its 7:30 am in the morning. They help me out with a quick check of the battery and turned out that the belt had broken. Thankfully, they got belt in stock just need someone to deliver the parts from the other location. They fixed it and kindly ask me to drive down that road for couple miles and head back to the shop for a test. My car ran smoothly without any issue. The guy at the shop tried to over charge us by 700$ telling us something wasn't working when it actually was. His answer was pretty sure for everything and everything he pointed at and tried to say doesn't work actually worked, luckily my husband has some mechanic knowledge. On our way to Yosemite from Arizona, we noticed an oil leak from our camper van. So we stopped at the nearest auto shop. Thankfully, ATG was literally right next to the gas station to get it checked out. There were two guys who were able to do the diagnosis right away. But after the diagnosis, they're telling us they can't repair it because their repair guy Alex who also owns the shop is off that day. So they just refilled the oil that was leaking so we can go somewhere else. But they charged us $100. $80 for the diagnosis and $20 for the refill. We had to go to a different auto shop near and got it fixed. What I don't understand is, if they don't have someone who can do repairs why even do a diagnosis? We wasted an hour there and $100 just to be told they don't have someone to do repairs.. usually auto shops don't charge you diagnostic fee if they deem that repairs can't be done at their shop. This shop is not one of them. And also they made us pay cash because Alex is not there and they don't know how to take credit cards. And they're not able to give us a receipt.. and they told us if we come back next time they'll be able to. Why would we drive all the way over there out of the way just to get our receipt. Very nice and helpful. We got stranded with an overheating car on the grapevine on Labor Day weekend. Luckily, they were open on a Saturday and Monday on a holiday weekend. They diagnosed the car. When going over the grapevine, my Acura TL 2005 broke down and was towed here. Not only did the owner Alex give me his accurate opinion on what was wrong, he seemed really knowledgeable and up front. My car was having transmission problems and he knew exactly what was wrong. He gave me the simple fix and the complex expensive fix options. He actually quoted me the very same price the Acura dealer did, so he knew exactly what the going rate was for this kind of fix without marking it up even more since I was in dire need. He said 99% of the time, it just needed to cool down, and he was correct. He didn't ask for money, he just gave me his advice on that I should get my transmission flushed when I get to SF. At 11:31 yesterday morning (Friday) the transmission on our Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 big monstrosity truck, loaded to the gills, quit. ...press the petal to the metal and sway to the rhythm of the whirring nothingness... We turned to trusty old friend Yelp and found two five star auto service repair shops nearby, called our insurance to arrange for roadside service and then crossed the street, got a table by the window at Denny's and lunched while we waited for our tow. Not long after 1:00 our truck arrived and before 1:30 we rolled into ATG Automotive with an endorsement from our tow driver who, it turns out, works for a competitor service shop that also provides roadside service for our insurance company. As I write, it is not yet 2:00 on Saturday afternoon. We are back on the road and I see 1/4 mile ahead, the spot where we coasted to a halt yesterday. Alex and his team worked late on a Friday night. He called his suppliers and finally found one with a tranny he would trade for ours. His supplier rebuild it yesterday. Alex and his team picked it up early this morning ("Come get it before 10:00am or it will be gone," they were told.) and the three continued working on it together to get us back on the road. Things to note: my gent was a professional ASE certified mechanic early in his career. He is a trained diesel mechanic for the military. He knows engines. It was clear to both of us that Alex knows his stuff. In fact, my Gent said he learned something new when Alex explained the inner workings of a transmission (the parts mechanics generally don't see) and how they often fail. He described the behavior of the truck exactly. The two (Gent and Alex) plugged in the computer and it just nodded and said "uh, hunh. What he said..." Alex arranged rides for us to get to the bank and then dropped us off and picked us up at a nearby hotel. If you're stranded in or around the Grapevine on I-5, have them tow you back uphill to ATG. Was driving up the coast on a road trip when my car started over heating. I had to stop at a random gas station, and thankfully Alex's shop was a minute down the road. My radiator fan crapped out, but was currently living out of my car. Alex put in an old fan he had and let me drive my car up to my destination. Told me on the way back down he would put in the new part when it came. The next day my check engine light came on (which was a problem i had with the car before coming here) and my radiator system exploded. Alex replaced my whole radiator system. I got to watch him work on the car, and chatted with him about my trip. He also ran the codes to my engine light and let me know to take it to my mechanic down south, but was safe to drive through LA traffic (I used to have problems with it dying while idling). Writing this review about three weeks later, because my cars having problems again. And laughing thinking of its worth driving my car 4 hours back to this mechanic. I was driving pass the grapevine to get home to the Bay Area and I stopped at a gas station to use the bathroom. Turns out my 1997 Honda Accord decided to take a leak too... The coolant hose was leaking, which then caused my car to overheat. I was approached by many mechanics at this gas station, but way too many took too long to send help. While I was waiting for other mechanics, Carlos approached me as he was getting gasoline. It turns out his shop was not at all far from where I was. Very very friendly people. They made the statement that they wouldn't rip me off. Nice to know since I'm a lowly college senior.. Don't set expectations too high on the shop itself. My '96 Jeep Cherokee broke down just outside of ATG Automotive Specialists. This was the third time it had broken down in the past year and half and I was very scared I was going to have to leave it up there and catch a ride back down to San Diego. I came in with these fears and expected that my transmission had blown again and I was kinda screwed. My girlfriend even made the drive to come get me thinking that there wasn't any way I was going to drive out of there today and may not get my car back. They popped the hood on my car and, I kid you not, within seconds located the issue and showed it to me with his flashlight. He told me all about what caused it and that I shouldn't have my hoses touching sharp metal. He fixed that problem within an hour and then found another one which he needed to order a part for. I figured, 'Jeez this is up in the mountains and were never going to get a part before close of businesses.' The part came in in 20 minutes and I watched him lay down some cardboard in the dirt where my car was dropped by the tow truck, crawl under and fix my car right there. Which made the process so much faster than rearranging all the cars on the lot to get me up on hydraulics or jacks. He took my for a drive in my car to show my that it worked, during which I was able to ask him questions about the future of my car and how it would withstand a trip across the country. Addressing some of my fears. He responded very knowledgeably and was really just looking out for me. The whole staff was a great time, conversed with you and wore smiles on their faces. I felt very comfortable driving my car the rest of the way up to San Luis Obispo, but seeing as my girlfriend was already here with her car that gets better MPG, I figured that maybe her and I could car pool. They allowed my to leave my car in their lot for just about a week before I was taking it back down to San Diego. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience. If I didn't live in San Diego, I'd be seeing these guys for everything that has to do with my car. read more
