He allowed me to run out of my Xanax without calling in a refill, causing me to have a seizure. I just spoke with my doctor who blamed a messed up misunderstanding on me!! What mental health professional does that? Worst possible place to go please don't go here. I have been crying since I spoke to her. Rachel is a disgusting person. I HAVE BEEN SUICIDAL AND THIS WOMAN DIDNT CARE ABOUT ME OR ANYTHING I WAS GOING THRU. They are ridiculous here 175$ an appointment I've had multiple times I've not set an appointments up and they have made me pay anyway because they said I missed it one they put down for me . They will force you to make appointments to see them or they will stop giving you your medications that if you stop taking would completely make you unstable and mess your head up . But hey they don't care like most to all health car places don't especially here there are money grubbing prices of crap that will get you on medication to "help" then turn around and basically black mail you you can't get your medication till you pay there redundant prices . Don't go here honestly if you can don't get on medication there just gonna mess your head up use you as a human lab rat , not really tell you anything about side affects of the medication they give you . I could keep going but my point waste of money and time and has no upsides . Came across this place online and gave them a call to ask a specific question about an area of treatment. Pressed one for "new patient" and got a recoding to "filling out their forum and submit with driver's license and insurance card." Then it explained that I would no be able to make an appointment or leave a message before hand. After that the call ended. I guess this business doesn't like making money... Lauren is great! I've been dealing with depression for many years all my primary care would do is throw different sample of meds that I would have horrible side effects to. Lauren listened & we came up with a great plan for my care. We is the important word, I've been to many medical drs. throughout my life & most won't listen or know more about my body than I do. I've been going here for about 2 months & I'm seeing results. I can't thank her enough. My only issue was with a lady who had a huge service dog who lunged at me in the waiting room. She got mad at me for her dog lunging at me it was very upsetting. I hope someone talks to that lady about personal space. She's not the only person going through things. I do wish the waiting room was a little bigger. read more

Took this office TWO weeks to find out that they are not in a network with our insurance. Nobody even bothered to call us about it. I found out about it only after my second call to them two weeks after we submitted new patient forms. Self pay price is $440 for 15 min initial visit for a child !!! read more

When my psychiatrist retired, I had to find a new provider. On paper, Dr. McCormick sounds great. I wouldn't know how he is in person, though. It's several hundred dollars for just a 1/2 hour appointment with him! No. I saw the N.P., Rhonda. She was still expensive for an N.P. for 1/2 hour, but she was a little less expensive than Dr. McCormick. Becoming a new patient of this bizarre business is a real pain. Gotta print out the new patient paperwork, DRIVE it to them, walk in, wait for 15 minutes for the receptionist to notice you, and then fill out MORE paperwork. (Have they ever heard of emailing scanned documents? ...Or faxes???) So I get an appointment to see the N.P. as soon as possible because I needed more medication. Naturally, since there were so many employees (The N.P.'s mother is a P.A. there), I was able to get in two months later. I was told by the receptionist (who rarely answers the phone after a long, boring, and taxing, and extremely complex touch-tone phone menu) that if I was a second later than the appointment time, I would forfeit my appointment and I would STILL have to pay them for the session. So, of course, I expected great service! "This is a well run practice!" I thought. Well, I show up 15 minutes early. And 15 minutes later I'm ready to build a new rapport with a new practitioner and get my meds! Then... 2 hours later, the N.P. comes out and says, "********. Come back." NO interpersonal skills. I was, frankly, embarrassed for her. I teach psychopharmacology at UGA in the Graduate School, so I anticipated our knowledge level of psychotropic medications to be commensurate. Boy, was I wrong. She kept saying things about medications that were simply and completely wrong. I smiled and nodded through the session, and I went to pick up my prescriptions. Every session after that was the same. Wait 2 1/4 hours in the waiting room. Sit through awkward conversations with an actual N.P. who, while incontrovertibly wrong, obviously thought she was well-equipped to do her job and talked to me condescendingly throughout the session. But I could still get my meds. Then, we had a discussion about a great, proven psychiatric medication that I believed might be helpful to me, and she told me that they didn't "prescribe that medicine because Dr. McCormick thinks it's too much of a liability." !?!!? This was a drug that had been out for 37 years and had fewer side effects than a placebo! She then proceeded to lecture me on how things work "in those mental hospitals?" With the rising inflection and all! I have worked as a psychiatric consultant in several mental hospitals around Atlanta, and she obviously had no idea what she was talking about. I spent ~$1,500 on that ill-prepared N.P.. All she did for me was prescribe me the drugs I had been on for the previous 13 years. And then, one day, when she was (not kidding) 3 1/2 hours late getting to me in the small, cramped, uncomfortable, deathly silent waiting room (3 1/2 hours!), I just told myself, "This N.P. is toxic to my life. Find another provider." And I did! And it was SO easy, and so much cheaper, and my psychiatrist (NOT an N.P.) actually knows more than me! As he should! Leaving Athens Behavioral Medicine was the best decision I ever made concerning my mental health. Don't go here, folks. It will suck up your emotional energy, bore you, and clean out your wallet. (And as a final note, I can't help but wonder why Dr. McCormick hasn't noticed his N.P.'s glaring lack of knowledge and inability to build rapport with her patients. Heavens! I've had psychiatrists fired for much, much less!). Goodbye Athens Behavioral Medicine! I won't miss you! read more

Great practice and super nice staff! I had to go out of state for family obligations and they still took care of me even being 800 miles away for 6+ months. Lauren Willis is so kind, and has does so much to help me whenever I need her. She even allows me to email her directly when I'm having issues. Even though Dr. McCormack isn't my normal physician, he personally called me back on my cell in an emergency, out-of-state situation at 10:00 at night. Not many doctors would care so much for their patients' needs at that hour. Other reviewers have said how slow they are to respond or are all together unresponsive but they are a very popular, extremely busy practice. That's to be expected...so give them a break or be more diligent if you really want to be a patient at ABM. I absolutely love them and would recommend them to anyone!! read more

I LOVE this practice! My daughter and I have seen both Lauren and Dr McCormick. They are so kind, understanding and will go out of their way to make sure you get the help you need. My daughter suffered severe Depression and Anxiety. At her first appointment Lauren empathized with what she was going thru and told her that they WILL make her feel better and all my daughter had to do was just HOLD ON. I have a HAPPY daughter now who is thriving! Every person I send to them finds hope and understanding immediately. read more

I was welcomed by friendly staff, and they were very helpful. I went to turn in new patient paperwork very nervous because I previously had a bad experience with an old physician back home, and the sweet receptionist that was sitting in the second chair at the front desk was so kind and really helped put my mind at ease. She made the appointment, explained the appointment in detail, and really made me feel welcomed and cared for. I left Athens Behavioral Medicine that day with a huge smile, and with a sense of relief knowing that I chose the right office to go to. Dr. McCormack is awesome! He has never treated me in a condescending way or with any disrespect, as I have had happen with another psych doc in town. The office staff are terrible. They are so rude and really make you feel unwelcome and unwanted, which is the exact opposite of what you want when dealing with mental health issues. When I first got to the front desk, the receptionist was on a phone call and didn't make eye contact, signal that it was going to be a few minutes, or even acknowledge that I was standing at the window. In reading previous reviews, you will note a familiar pattern in ABM's phone system that goes nowhere -- either to schedule appointments, get assistance, etc. Prior to COVID, we stopped even trying to contact them via phone -- we just drove there instead. Dealing with their front office is no picnic, though. On one appointment, they forgot to inform us that we could go upstairs to see our therapist -- effectively making us 15 minutes late to a 50-minute appointment (even though we were there 15 minutes early). The most egregious issue, though, is their completely inept and unprofessional billing staff. If you have a copay, maybe you won't notice an issue. However, if you have coinsurance, they are not good about estimating your portion. In my case, I have a credit balance with their office as a result, yet they recently canceled one of our appointments for "non-payment" at the last minute. How can I be negligent in paying them, when I've already overpaid them? Their response: pay at time of service to comply with our agreement, or go find yourself another doctor. I think I'm going to take their advice, and find another doctor. My suggestion for you, if you aren't already a patient at ABM, is to not put yourself through the torture in the first place. read more

I have seen the reviews on 3 sights...average of 3 stars. Let me add my input. I agree with the 4 ratings within the last 6 months. Lauren Willis is wonderful. Meanwhile the staff is disorganized, unresponsive and lacking sense of urgency. And, as of January, 2018, they charge $25 for any requested documentation. I needed a letter for my Social Security Disability and a second for my Medical Leave of Absence. For the second time in a year, I requested an emergency appointment. It has been four days with no response. Ms. Willis is out of the office and Dr. McCormack is on vacation; in his Maserati perhaps? Do not go here. I am calling Advantage Behavioral Health. read more

I gave them one star for the front end once you are out back with the DR or PA they are great. 1) They never answer the phone this makes it very hard to make/change appointments. 2) They give you scrip and if the insurance needs a justification they charge you $15 dollars every time they need to do it. 3) Dr. McCormack's PA is very good she takes the time to listen and help. read more

While sometimes the wait time may be a little long (due to emergency sessions) this is a wonderful office with Dr's that are not pushing medications as a quick fix. They have friendly staff and are quick to reply to issues when you call. Their fee for non insured patients is reasonable as well. read more

Ironically, this practice drove me insane. After jumping though the hoops of completing their new patient paperwork and having to come turn it in personally, I finally had an appointment after over a month of waiting. An hour and a half before my first appointment, it was canceled with no explanation. I was disappointed but agreed to reschedule. Three weeks later, on the day of my reschedule, they called me an hour before my appointment and YET AGAIN CANCELED ON ME due to "an emergency". I explained to them that this had happened before, and they swore to me that they would give me the next available appointment and that this appointment would happen. I should have seen it coming, but the morning of this second reschedule, they called me to ask if I could move my appointment to later in the day. As a patient who was searching for help with anxiety and depression, this practice sure did add to both my anxiety and depression. To sum it up, Athens Behavioral Medicine is unreliable, insensitive, and plain unprofessional. Do yourself a favor and find another practice. read more

When you call a voicemail directs new patients to their webpage to fill out paperwork to mail in. I did this and sent it in with no response for 2 weeks. I called several times and the "New patient coordinator" never picks up her line or returns my phone calls after leaving messages. Poor business practice. I was told new pts had to complete paperwork, so we picked it up, filled it all out for my child, and hand delivered it. Was told to wait for the scheduler to call. After a week, I left a message, and no one called back. I waited a few more days, and left another message, which was not answered. So today, two weeks from the time I dropped these papers off, I called and got someone, who put me on hold for 7 minutes, before telling me they are not accepting new patients. TWO WEEKS of wasting time when my child needed help. Very unprofessional. Guess they save being courteous for actual patients. read more

My daughter's psychiatrist retired from private practice so we were scrambling to find her another psychiatrist. We had rave reviews of Dr. McCormack, so attempted to get her an appointment with him. I can't tell you the number of times I called their office and got no answer. She filled the paperwork out they tell you to that's on their website, took it by their office, and never heard back from them. After more than 3 weeks, I finally spoke with someone who said my insurance didn't cover their services and I would have to pay out of pocket, which I told them I was prepared to do. McCormack's office still wouldn't schedule her an appointment. As someone who works in a business where we refer many people to counselors, psychologists, and psychiatrists, I will never refer someone to his office because of the way the office is run. McCormack needs an office manager that can make that office run the way it should be run, and someone should pick the phone up when it rings. read more

I don't know about the doctors because I can't even schedule an appointment. Their staff is extremely rude and inconsiderate. They lost all of my forms that I printed out at home and completed and the copy of my license and insurance card. They never answer calls at any hour of the day, and even if they do answer they will put you on hold or transfer you to their call center that takes messages for them when the are supposedly out of the office at any hour of the day. Their receptionists should not be working for psychiatrists, because they obviously do not care about one's mental health. I got two staff members to give me their names, Jessica and Deborah, before being transferred to a call center. I hope that no one calls this office needing real mental help. read more
