On July 24, I was transported by ambulance due to dangerously high blood pressure, which paramedics could not even obtain from my lower arm due to severity. My BP remained critically elevated upon arrival at ETMC. I was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection and "stress/anxiety" and was discharged with a dangerously high bp 160/103 and without any antibiotic treatment for the UTI. The next day, I called the ER to clarify this, and the staff confirmed that I was, in fact, diagnosed with a UTI -- yet no medication was ever prescribed. I was forced to visit my primary care physician to obtain an appropriate antibiotic (Macrobid). This was a failure in basic medical care and patient safety. On August 3, I returned to the ER with worsening symptoms: fever, chills, rigors, full-body muscle stiffness, and uncontrollable vomiting. This time, the diagnoses were completely different -- gallstones, an umbilical hernia, and interstitial cystitis. Not once reporting pain, I was offered Tramadol, a narcotic I explicitly refused. Yet someone from the staff still gave me a foil wrapped Tramadol, "for later" and called in a prescription for Tramadol after I was discharged -- without my consent and without medical necessity. Cephalexin was also called in at that time -- well after the original diagnosis of UTI, and only after I had already been forced to seek treatment elsewhere. The physician involved in my first visit, Dr. B. Smith, was extremely unprofessional, dismissive, and rude. His behavior reflected a lack of compassion and clinical judgment, and he failed to provide even the most basic level of care. The diagnostic discrepancy between the two visits, and the delayed prescribing of essential medication, speak volumes about the dysfunction at this facility. This experience has left me not only frustrated, but genuinely concerned about the safety of other patients under your care. I will be choosing Christus Health for my future medical needs.

I had no one available to pick me up so she ended up driving me home even though I live 20 minutes out of the way because I had no one to pick me up. My health continued to deteriorate so I had to return. My husband was supposed to pick me up but I was panicking that he couldn't find the place at 4:00 AM, so she once again, drove me home and would not allow her to give her gas money. That's awesome service!

I initially contacted the Sleep Medicine Institute of Texas a week earlier with a copy of my sleep study, a summary note of it, and a copy of my insurance card. When I arrived today, the front office had not verified my insurance coverage. Over half an hour after the appointment was scheduled, I was taken back to a room. When the specialist finally arrived, I was shocked by his lack of "bedside manner." He is very full of himself and arrogant in his approach to patients. He offered no advice on my condition that a general practitioner couldn't provide. Instead of my coming to the practice, he could have emailed me his advice and saved me the 50 min. trip. He told me to take a particular medicine at night rather than the day. He told me there is no medication treatment for people who do not reach a level of deep sleep, and he told me I needed to lose weight quickly, even though I did not have what is popularly known as obstructive sleep apnea, bad enough for a CPAP. He was diagnosing conditions I have that are out of his scope as a specialist and making claims about the effect these conditions would have on my sleep, even though I have seen other specialists who mentioned that the conditions are not harmful and are normal in adults of my age. I am sorry my insurance company will be forced to pay this practice for sophomoric advice from an MD, whose talk seems erudite and sounds attractive, but ends up leaving one unsatisfied, as a consumed fast-food meal does. I will never go back to this practice and do not recommend it to anyone. This practitioner gives the impression that he is the best and that everyone else is wrong. As we all know, however, there is always someone better than you are in your profession. The MD of this practice needs to be humbled. What better way for me to teach him this lesson than to never come back.

******DON'T GO HERE ******…read more ******THIRD AND FINAL UPDATE****** After 48 days of waiting, i FINALLY have my dental appliance back and can say I am DONE with Star Sleep and Wellness! Throughout this whole frustrating experience there has never been any communication from here that wasn't initiated by me. No genuine concern or apologies from anyone regarding the failures of the staff from the start. Again I urge anyone to think twice before going here....unless you don't care that there is no thorough oral exam, just the sales pitch and then being in a group of strangers going through an "orientation". Everything about this business feels cold and impersonal. This has been a horrible experience and I will NEVER recommend this business to anyone. I am so glad to be done with Star Sleep and Wellness. ******SECOND UPDATE ****** One week later, February 9, and i have heard absolutely NOTHING from this place. I have no idea if my dental appliance was ever actually found and sent back to the lab for repairs. Of course there were empty promises to keep me advised on the status, I'm not surprised at all that Star Sleep & Wellness can't even manage this. Today I had an appointment with Dr. Suzanne Thai D.D. S. at DFW Sleep Solutions - such a DRASTIC difference in the 2 practices. Dr. Thai spent 1 hour talking with me about my concerns. Is there even a doctor at Star Sleep & Wellness? Who knows, I never saw one!!! Again, if you are serious about your health and sleep quality don't waste your time or your $1200.00 here at Star Sleep & Wellness!! I am so glad I have started the process over with a practice that cares about their patients and not just paying for the fancy top floor office at The Star. Go to DFW Sleep Solutions for truly caring and compassionate team who is ready to help you, not just take your money and abandon you! ****UPDATE TO MY REVIEW **** Tuesday, January 27, Grayson told me in email that he would be sending my oral appliance right away for expedited repair. On Friday, January 30, Grace informed me on the phone that no one knew where the device was yet. Today, February 2 I spoke with Grayson. The device still hasn't been sent to the lab. His excuse was the winter storm first - keep in mind that he told me on Tuesday what he was going to do and the ice storm didn't arrive until Friday night. The next excuse was that all personnel who could apparently do anything were gone to a seminar. This place is filled with excuses and horrible patient care. I advise you to run far and fast away from this business. ************************************ I am extremely disappointed in the level of care and follow-through I've received from Star Sleep and Wellness Frisco. My dental appliance broke four weeks ago, after I had only been using it for one month. I waited two days just to receive a call back, at which point I was told to send photos of the appliance. Based solely on those photos--without any in-person examination--Grace determined that the issue was broken hinges and ordered replacements. Once the hinges arrived, it was discovered that the actual problem was a compromised screw, meaning the entire appliance had to be sent back to the lab. This resulted in another two-week delay. After hearing nothing, I emailed Sam for an update. He told me he would follow up and get back to me. Another week passed with no communication. When I reached out again, I received a response from Grayson, the Wellness Director at the Frisco location, informing me that Sam no longer worked there and--more concerning--that no steps had been taken at all to move my case forward. I emailed Grayson two additional times with questions and requests for updates and received no response. Today, I called and spoke with Grace again--the same person who initially misdiagnosed the problem. She informed me that she does not even know where my appliance is, let alone when I might get it back. To make matters worse, just this week I was diagnosed with high blood pressure due to untreated sleep apnea and have now had to start medication. This delay in care has had real, measurable consequences for my health. At this point, I am requesting immediate accountability and resolution--specifically, clear communication on the current location and status of my appliance, a firm timeline for repair or replacement, and appropriate consideration for a refund or replacement at no additional cost due to the extended delays and lack of care coordination. Patients seeking treatment for sleep apnea should not be left without answers, support, or critical medical equipment.

When I called the office on 9/14/26, staff confirmed the fee exists to prevent missed appointments, but also confirmed it is not refunded or credited toward your visit even when you attend. A no-show deterrent you pay either way isn't a deterrent; it's a higher price for the same appointment, charged only to patients without insurance, often the people least able to absorb extra costs. This practice is operated by Texas ENT Specialists / Elevate ENT Partners, so self-pay patients at their other locations may want to ask whether the same fee applies. This is a billing-policy issue, not a comment on the physicians' clinical care.
