Everything was great. I ordered the combo kabob $13. You get chicken, kufta, and beef kabobs with this dish. 3 pieces of each type on top of rice with a side of grill tomatoe and bell pepper slices. Chicken and kufta- were great! Chicken was nicely season with a refreshing seasoning and kufta was very moist. Beef kabob- I personally didn't like because it was tough. Rice- was cooked with tomatoes and seasoning so the coloring was reddish. I requested for plain white rice because I usually like my rice without seasoning but they did not have it. One of the best Mediterranean foods I've ever ate! My favorite part of this meal is the potatoes, the seasoning that they put on it is just sooo bomb! I've gotten the Gyro meat with rice and loved it! The rice is kind of bland, but when you mix it with hot sauce and the tzatziki sauce... man it takes you to a whole other level. Oh and the best part is their desserts. You MUST get Heaven. It's definitely my favorite. The flaky exterior with a smooth custard just makes the bones in your back melt and turn your crap day around. However do eat with caution. They're so addicting! Athens Grill is a restaurant and mini grocery store. I walked into an empty shop on Black Friday. Order at the counter at the back of the store. The menu is easy enough to navigate. I ordered #6: Super Gyro with Fries for $7.45 plus tax. I was a big fan of the gyro. The price and the taste were both more than competitive with the price at other shops. The fries, unfortunately, were another story. Similar to other diners, I was served old fries that were initially overcooked. No bueno. I asked Yelp for a good place to eat, and Yelp delivered. I'm so disappointed. I've been coming here for years and the quality isn't just waning, it's not good. I really like the owner. He's a nice old man and will engage in conversation, but the food isn't what it used to be. I was in a couple of days ago and had chicken shawarma which was great, but the Greek salad was smothered in some weird mayonnaise concoction - apparently, it's their new thing. Today, I stopped in to order lemon chicken soup & an order of spanakopita for lunch and baba ghanoush to snack on this week. My spanakopita was fried on the grill so it absorbed the flavor of everything fried on the grill & the tzatziki was flavorless. The lemon chicken soup was half-filled and the consistency can only be described as the Greek version of what Oliver Twist asked for more of in the workhouse. Fine threads of chicken were the only evidence of protein and I'm still not sure if the starch was orzo or white rice since the entire thing was mush. I'm expecting more from the baba ghanoush because it's always been great in the past, but who knows. I wish I could still recommend this place, I do...but there are other options and I'll be going to those places when I'm craving the Greek food that I dont already make. read more

I just don't get how this place has 4 and a half stars. We made a special trip there for authentic Greek moussaka, which is one of my favorite dishes. It was truly a wasted trip. When my dish was brought to the table it was unrecognizable. After some reflection on the meal, I decided it at one time been similar to the layered delicate dish I expected. I think this had been frozen and then overheated in the microwave. There was very heavy tomato sauce covering a potato slice and a tiny eggplant slice. Both were rubbery, and could not be cut with the plastic tableware. There should have been browned meat lightly seasoned with tomato sauce with nutmeg. There were also yellow lumps all throughout the serving. After I ate some of it, I decided that was some bechamel sauce which should have been in a layer of top. The skimpy greek side salad was overly minced lettuce, a slice of unripe tomato, crumbled feta, one olive, one pepperoncini drowned in a creamy dressing. My husband ordered the chicken kabob expecting grilled veggies and chicken. No tzatziki, no veggies, more unripe tomato. We also got a side of falafel. They were strange, the soft insides were pulled away from the crispy outside. I suspect again that the microwave was over used. I will say the Greek pizza and calzone looked great, and the gyros going by our table to other customers were generous and the fries looked really good. The cashier and waitress were snippy, and all the workers appeared to be either very sad or angry. The men's restroom was clean, but without paper towels. read more

Perfect and authentic gyros every time. My dad comes here all the time and took me here a few times as a kid.

We visited this restaurant and purchased 2 open faced gyro platters and a side of potatoes. The older gentleman at the counter was very nice and friendly. The cost for the two platters with the potatoes was around 23-26 dollars. The platter consisted of meat, rice, pita and a salad. I did not care for the dressing that was on the salad I found it to be very heavy with mayo or a mayo like substance. The meat was a bit salty and dried out because they over cooked it. The side of potatoes were extremely salty. We were unable to eat them. However, I did find the tzatziki sauce very tasty. I like to support local businesses. I may try a pizza at this restaurant next time because it is close to my home but for now the gyro platter is off the menu. read more

WOW, this is about as authentic as you can get! I accidentally stumbled on this place because I was looking for the teriyaki joint - which was previously located there. I'm so glad that I did, this place is legit. We ordered the open faced beef gyro, the combo platter (consist of steak, kofta and chicken), Kofta gyro and a bunch of desserts that will put you in a diabetic coma - no joke. I haven't seen turkish delights in forever and finally found some there. There's also a variety of sweets but I could only name the turkish delights and Baklava. I had some picky eaters with me and they all seem to be enjoying their food which makes me happy. The beef gyro was so delicious, it was moist and flavorful. Not too salty - brownie points! I really did enjoy this place, but however I can't give them a 5 star rating. For me to do that, I would be saying that they have the BEST Greek food around. However they are on the top 5 on my list. I'm really looking forward to going back to try their Greek pizza as it looked so divine. This is the only place that I've ran into that had Greek pizza. I've been going here for awhile now because the food is good. As of the last 2 months or so, the food still taste good, but they prices have creeped up AND they have started to knickle and dime you for every little thing that should already come with your meal. Example: the tzatziki sauce should come with a meal or pizza, but they want to charge you .75 cent for that small tiny container well, thats if they haven't seen you before, but if you are a regular like myself its .25 cents. before it used to be free like it suppose to be. Then, if you are a new person in there, you better "Watch" them closely when they are ringing up your order because they will "Add" .10 or .20 cents more per item if you are ordering several meals for your family. Im So done with these ppl. Most smaller places like this spot will be much leanier with returning customers, but not these GREEDY people especially the father standing there with his non personality. He seems so money hungry that i refuse to go back. We found a much better place in Loaganville that guves you almost twice the food that this greedy place does n they give you mountains of food and do not charge extra for sauces and such. By the Way, they are MUCH cheaper and the greek food is AWESOME. Try Loaganville, you will thank this review and see that thus post is 100% correct.
