Great place to go and practice or have some fun with friends. It is well ventilated and the staff are a very knowledgeable and friendly. They have a wide selection of weapons to rent and choose from and can provide you with all the needed accessories.definitely worth a visit. The only drawback is, being indoors, the lanes only go up to 35 yards or so. Also if you are just going for the day, you have to purchase targets from them. You cannot bring your own. I enjoy shooting in this comfortable indoor range friendly helpful staff always helps me get checked in and checked out. Highly recommend this facility to anybody in the area or passing through. The staff we've encountered are friendly and kind; they're clearly extremely knowledgeable, but they're not condescending to new gun owners or to women which is huge. Prices are reasonable, even on the pieces they have for sale. I would come here to buy before any other shop in Athens, and definitely worth the drive to go to the range. A very safe and well run facility. Took my son and his kids there to teach them gun safety like he and I did when he was younger. They allowed us to use a private section with two lanes. It's so important for kids to know what guns can do and they should never point them at people. Repeat over and over that they should never EVER assume a firearm is unloaded and to NEVER point any firearm at anyone, EVEN IF YOU JUST UNLOADED IT. More people get killed by "unloaded"guns accidentally every year because they never learned gun safety and parents tried to keep them safe by keeping guns away from them. If they visit someone who has a firearm they will naturally be curious. My dad taught me and I taught my kids and they are passing it on. Athens has guns you can use to practice or you can bring your own. read more

My Son and I was getting guns for Christmas and checked out the store. Thankfully they had what we both needed. The store has a nice selection of guns, they also have a gun range. I was unable to take advantage of the gun range the day of purchase, which would have been at no charge on that same day of purchase. I will return to this store again. Getting back into live fire shooting post-Covid-19...sure beats dry fire! My wife and I always go together, on Thursday, when we can both shoot for the price of one. The staff have been great...not pushy, but available if you have a question...which we always do. Looking to acquire a new gun or two, primarily for personal self defense. The safety culture at this range is near non-existent. I've been flagged by patrons multiple times on the range with visibly loaded weapons- nobody seems to care. Hell, poor safety is shown in their social media photos sometimes. They do not provide adequate training when using a weapon you've never used, and even treat you like you're an idiot for asking questions on operating a deadly firearm you've never used before. The worst was today, when I saw employees dry firing directly at one another with a target practice toy that deeply resembles a real firearm. You never ever mix real weapons with toys, never dry fire at a person (do I really have to say this?!?!). I'm highly suspicious that all of the rental weapons coming back from users without training are properly checked for being unloaded, which is asking for mistakes to happen in a culture like this. Canceled my membership after two years, I'll drive out farther to another range in order to be safe. read more

Staff were great, place was clean and they have a good variety of guns. Obviously ammo shortage just like everywhere else lol but when we got to shooting I really realllllly disliked the place. I could feel the vibration and the noise really was making me feel uncomfortable. I've never felt like that before and it might be because they had no sort of padding on the ceiling or walls. They need to upgrade their shooting area and I would probably not come back to shoot unfortunately. read more

Our extended family is visiting Athens, GA for our niece's wedding. Had some time to explore the area before a Saturday evening ceremony and reception. Half our group visited the Botanical Garden (yawn). The rest of us went to Athens Gun Club and had a blast! We were helped by David who was awesome - very friendly and helpful. We started with a Colt 9mm handgun and moved on to an AK-47. Way more fun than anything we've done as a family in a long time! If you aren't a fan of the Athens Gun Club then you aren't an American. You may as well tuck your balls between your legs and move back to France. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and they run the place far better than the previous owners. The Athens Gun Club is not only an incredible shooting range but also a well priced and well stocked gun store with a wide selection and nearly impossible to beat prices. All you have to do is go shoot once. If you dont love it then you have a problem. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, they run a tight ship and dont tolerate unsafe behavior. It's a great place to shoot. Very affordable range prices and I find that they are actually one of the more adorable places around in Athens for ammo and guns. I've never had an employee be rude to me and if anything they've actually always gone above and beyond when I ask about a particular gun vs another. They always seem to give their honest opinion and aren't pushing a particular brand or more expensive gun. I can't see them yelling at a customer but people do need to realize they are shooting guns; they aren't toys to play around with. I'm not sure where to start with this review. The guy behind the counter is the rudest person ive ever met. I am not from Athens but visit about once a week. I went to Clyde's armory looking for a MOE stock for my AR. Clydes was out of what I was looking for so they recommended I come visit Athens gun club (which I was impressed they would refer me to a competitor). As soon as I walked in, the guy behind the counter was shouting at two other customers about a number of things and demanding to know whether they're going to continue to shoot or leave. The employee was very aggressive and the customers chose to leave (no surprise). I was taken back by how he treated paying customers but was in a rush, found what I wanted and was ready to leave. As I went to check out, the employee continued to bad mouth the prior customers the customers to me. Right before he rang up the item, I asked what their return policy was, they said they don't have one. So I told the employee that I'd hold off on the purchase for now which made him even more frustrated and he tried belittling me and my potential need to return the item. As I put the item back, the employee began berating another guest. Also I looked at their bulk ammo prices, all calibers were $20-40 more expensive than Clydes. Save your time, money and the headache and go to another gun shop in Athens. I'm surprised anybody would frequent that business on more than one occasion. read more

I belonged to this club for over a year. Most of my shooting experiences there were okay, however, I ordered a rifle and had them receive it to transfer it into my name. They stated that transfers were a benefit of club membership. When it came time to do the transfer, the manager started to make up several "rules" that were absolutely unnecessary and in no way connected the FFL form I had to fill out. He even forced me to fill out the FFL form incorrectly in order to obtain the rifle I had already bought and paid for. Above all else, he told me not to get "smart" with him as he was doing me a favor to transfer the rifle anyway! He has no knowledge of how to properly execute the duties of a FFL holder. Also, he is very arrogant, extremely overbearing and incapable of doing his job. I spent 23 years in the US Military (Eleven of them in an open Combat Zone) willing to give my life to protect and defend the Constitution and the people it was written for that reside in the United States of America. I personally sacrificed my own needs to insure that Constitution is still in effect today! I sacrificed to the point that I am now considered a 100% Disabled Veteran. I have no regrets of sacrifice, but instead I was both honored and proud to have had the opportunity to do so. I will never have a use for his type of person or business. I can fully prove my dedication and loyalty to this great country. He will under no circumstances ever end up doing me a "favor". I have paid in full all my dues and in doing so earned my rights. read more
