Pomona switched to Athens, and for the first time in 11 years, my container was missed, also, the billing leaves a lot to be desired. I had no idea the bill would come by mail. It got shifted to junk mail, and I almost missed it. They seem to be much pickier about exactly where the containers go, can't be too close to a car (as if we can control where others park!) And some of the rules on recycle, have changed as well. And of course we are paying more. read more

Okay, dumpster pick ups will be missed on occasion. When that has happened i've always called and the ladies who answered were kind and helpful. They've had the driver call me if the bin was blocked or they went back to the regular pick up time and all worked well. Today when i called Elvis was rude and not helpful at all. Basically told me tough s**t. I asked for a supervisor and was left on hold eternally. nice system. Sad. Elvis should not be answering your phones under the guise of customer service. This company has poor customer service. I am a Commerce, CA. Business and wanted to cancel my services due to unexpected rate increase. Company answered me that I was on a long 5 year contract .I was unaware and did not sign that contract. Very difficult to get connected and get a straight answer. I do not recommend this company. My situation has not been resolved until now. I am back and forth with them and they take a long time to get you pieces of information. They claimed fees will be assessed on a contract I suspect they forfeited. I am ready to assign this issue to a lawyer to fight the legality of their presumed "contracts". I live in San Gabriel. Their bulky item pick up service is wonderful. I have use their trash pick up service in the past 10 years and never use the bulky item pick up until the past year when I have time to clean house when I work from home. On a couple of occasions I called on the day before trash pick up day, and was able to schedule a next day pick up. The service reps are always courteous and professional and explain the procedure clearly. They usually provide a ticket no. for the order and sometimes even if they don't, the bulky items still got picked up as scheduled. Thanks for the great service. read more

If I could change my trash company I would. This company is the worst. They purposely change trash times so you get missed and when you call about it, they want to charge you for a fee for an extra pick up. Doesn't matter if they missed the whole block and it's their fault, but for a FEE.... They can help you. As for bulky items, they want to charge you $65 for the first item and another fee for each additional item. Forget customer service, it like talking to the DMV - NO HELP WHATSOEVER!!! read more

Worst trash service I have ever had at any house I've ever lived in. Cardboard that isn't broken down into tiny pieces? Won't take it. Trash that extends even a half inch beyond the sides of the bin? Do not I repeat DO NOT use there services! I made the mistake or ordering a roll off for a construction project, canceled the dumpster. October 7th! Spoke to Elvis, Terri, Leslie. And Patricia, as of today, 11/16/21 they still have not returned my money! And the best part is they keep saying "it shows refunded"! They will not email a receipt showing the refund, so what do I do? Do I file a police report? How do I make them give me my money back? read more

Customers Beware! I ordered a 30-yard roll-off for some significant brush clearance on my property on September 26, 2023. Athens charged my card upfront for $718 for the delivery fee/pick-up and disposal/dump fee, with the understanding that based on the number of dumps or weight of the bin, I would either receive a credit or have an additional charge. I delayed the delivery until October 12th and had them pick up the bin on October 19, 2023. I called the following week to inquire about the final amount and was told that I would have to wait until billing at the beginning of November. On November 1, 2023 the invoice was generated and it noted that a $434 CREDIT was due to me for the deposit I had originally paid. I called Athens and inquired when to expect the credit and was told that it should process by beginning of December. I lost track of the pending credit (on me) but then started to look through my statements on February 21, 2024 and realized that they never issued the credit and that it was still showing on my Athens account. I called again, and the agent was helpful and informed me that the credit could take 5 days to post to my card. Effectively, Athens held onto my refund for nearly three months, and I am not sure they would have ever issued it had I not phoned again. I am certain that had I owed them that amount for 3 months, I would have been sent to collections. It's not a great way to treat your customers. read more

Confused in RH... I do my part by cleaning and separating my recyclables from the trash. This morning I saw the trash truck pick up the black trash can, dump it and then proceed to pick up the blue recyclable can and dump it in the same truck. It was not a mistake since What's up with that? I tried to ask Athens about it, but the CSR just hung up on me before I could finish asking my question. Load of garbage! I manage a shopping center and we have used athens for over 20 years. Our account is paid on auto pay and is current. Yesterday, Athens Services took our dumpster away without notice. When I called they said they were busy and would haqve it back in, "15-20 minutes". That was yesterday. Trash is piling up. Athens does not answer phone calls.
