Terrible route manager refuse to pickup large illegal dump just terrible service. If this continue???

I live on Molino St. in Pasadena and want to recognize the great job that Luis Quinones on truck 193 does. He is always very accommodating and provides top notch service! It is great to not have to worry about trash being left behind or the bins obstructing. He is very mindful and considerate which, in my opinion, are very important qualities to have as a service provider. Luis quinones of truck 193 is great. He always puts the dumpster right back in the same place with room for parking. Friendly and helpful.

I complained using their online customer service email and I received a response the same day. And they corrected the problem I had. Don't call them, the girl at the front desk is incompetent and rude and yes, you will be on hold forever. read more

They kept on changing trash barrel delivery dates. Called so many times but always told you that your delivery is on dispatch route. Soooooo many times that I cannot trust them. Pls get ready to be upset and then you have no way avoiding it. It has been a nightmare. read more

The trashcan for recyclables at my apartment complex is full each week because we do our part to recycle. One truck comes to collect ALL the trashcan types at once.. making our efforts to recycle completely pointless. Sometimes the drivers even look suspicious doing this! read more

I haven't had any problems with Athens Services. Every time I have call, they help me with my questions or concerns or everytime I needed it a Bulky item pick up. They'll come at the day they suppost to come. No problem. read more

Athens has been a nightmare to deal with. We are moving out of Athens service area and need to cancel service. I have called the customer service number 8 times today and received 3 callbacks only to be told they were from the wrong department and they would place me back into the que. Every time I get a callback it is "the wrong department". If I try to stay on line their system just hangs up on you. Chat is unavailable. Thank god after this week I hopefully never have to deal with Athens again! I am moving! I need to cancel service! Please someone contact me and not from "the wrong department" read more

Wish we weren't required to use Athens! Horrible customer service! The people answering the phone for temporary service customers do t seem to know any answers of how their services work. I have a job for 2 months and inquired about pricing. They informed me that they have service for 30 days max and 3 months or more. I asked after the 30 days, can I have a new bin scheduled to be dropped the day the old one has to be removed or then next day? They lady that was finally going to help me, Suzy or Cyndi, said she needed to find out and would call me back by closing or the next morning. I get the call back from her the next day late afternoon. She tells me the same thing as before. I repeated my question and gave dates as an example. She responded to that by say I wasn't listening to her and repeated it all again. Still with no new information. I asked if there was a manager or supervisor that she was getting the information from herself that I may speak to that knows the answer. She responded with that is he answer and she told me and she's in a meeting so you can't talk to her. I finally gave up. I still don't know what the policy is or when I'm able to get another bin for the second month of our project. Every trash company has their pros and cons. But this one takes the cake for the worst company I have ever had to deal with. I wish the city of LA would terminate their contract and let us use a different one. read more

Horrible customer service. "Alicia" who called me earlier today kept speaking over me, was rude and condescending. They just called me for a SECOND balance after they called me last week for a smaller balance. Their accounting is extremely unreliable. They are totally unprofessional and disorganized and apparently, make untrue statements in their "notes". Use a different junk hauling service if you can- I know I sure will!! read more

Too bad it had to go to negative social reviews to get service, rather than being handled by the several calls and emails done privately over the previous 6 months... but thank you none-the-less. Customer service is terrible and they don't consistently pick up trash. They like to charge wild amounts over $400 in my case, for literally nothing. A back charge from BEFORE I ever started service. I RATE THEM F, Got a temporary dumpster, filled it to the fill line, they came to pick it up and told me it was to heavy and to empty it half way, so I empty it half way like they TOLD me and then they came back and said it's still heavy, by the way the dumpster wasn't in the best condition , the wheels especially. They came back the 3rd time to pick it up FINALLY, they wanted to charge me for the 2 times but waive one , I did what they TOLD me and it still got charged!!! On 8:30AM, 1/20/2022, I called customer service at 888-336-6100 for missing pickups for 1/17/2022 & 1/19/2022. I talked to a customer service assistant for the missing pick ups. I informed a dumpster in the lower garage had missed two services for the week and it was trash on the floor everywhere. She said she did not see a dumpster in our account. To her, a dumpster is like a trailer. I repeated there are only "recycled bins and a big trash dumpster", she insisted that I have to answwered a "3 yard" or dumpster. I said both container are fulled. She still wanted me to answer 3 yards or dumpster repeatedly. I saed I need to talk to her manager for this, she put me on hold for 10 mins and after that played her phone with punching phone keypads with annoying sounds so that I might the phone. It is a very rude service and it is simple reporting missing pick up. Why make it so dram and complicated? read more

Now Athens is trying to collect for January 2018 services that they never performed. I have contacted Athens billing/collections dept 3 times letting them know that they are billing for services that they never performed. RecycLA designated Republic as our new trash service company Republic. Now I have to take time out of my day to prove I paid someone else so their collections department will stop harassing me. My green waste bin was not picked up today. They said it was too full. Yes, it had some old dead bamboo plants that were tall (8-10 plants less than 6 ft. tall) but it wasn't even full. Never had issues before and I see this commonly in my neighborhood. So I called them up today and their response was "At the driver's discretion if the lid doesn't close they are not required to pick it up." They used to leave notes but aren't required to do that either. So I have no choice but to lug it back and cut the plants and wait till next time. Would not be so bad it this was written on their website or if it were a consistent policy. read more

Very fast and easy reservation system. Made the reservation online and a person followed up the next day to go over all the details. Delivery and pick-up were on time and completed without a hitch. i have their trash removal services in 2 locations.they have not picked up for 2 weeks in one location and after calling them and being promised service yesterday.they did not show up.today was their regular pick up day and they did not show up either. the customer service person is not willing to go the extra mile to verify whats going on. i am going to change companies. read more

We were most impressed with all aspects of renting our dumpster. Our phone calls were answered by a person each time we called. The staff explained everything in clear language. The dumpster arrived as scheduled, it was dumped as agreed upon. There were no surprises. My only concern was the cost being high. read more

Thought this was resolved two months ago, but we are STILL receiving invoices from Athens. We've now cancelled the service TWICE. Not only that, but when I called customer service they forced me to go with the "we will call you back" option instead of allowing me to stay on the line (I didn't select anything, they automatically did this), and then hung up on me. When they called back, nobody was on the other line and they hung up again. Save yourselves the headache and go with anyone else but Athens. After years of good service from WM, Athens got the new contract for Thousand Oaks. Athens took our WM cans a week ago and the new cans never arrived. I've called multiple times and always receive the same response, "We have escalated your issue and the new cans should arrive within 48-72 hours". Last time I spoke to them they said we could leave our trash bags on the street and they would be picked up. As expected, they never pick them up. Just called again... now they say our cans will be delivered in late April. I'm serious... they say we won't have any trash cans for a month. Supposed to get a call from a supervisor but not holding my breath. With no other options I'm resorting to online reviews. I know I'm not the only one having these issues.. Seems the city council did zero due diligence before firing WM and signing with Athens. A quick Google search tells you all you need to know. Athens is just a horribly run company. read more

I am forced to use this company through the city of L.A. They are thee worst!!!!!! If the lid is open even slightly, they will charge you an overfill fee of 28.00 or an overweight fee of 114.00 which ever one they feel like charging that day!!!! Whatever you do, DO NOT use this company!!!!!! You have to wait forever to talk to someone on the phone. This company should be investigated!!!!!!! I'm extremely mad at this company , LA city forced us to switch to this company from the other company for Trash pick up . Since then the nightmare began. The service rate went up 4 times and the worst part is they keep missing recycle pickup five weeks in a row so far . I've been calling and emailing numerous times and they still miss the recycle pickup every single week. I can't switch to other company because of the stupid city policy . City of Norwalk decided to go with Athens, Im guessing because they are just a few dollars cheaper. But, wow! Ive had trash "spilled" onto street that I have to pick up after Athens has done their damage. And now, my recycling has not been picked up since Wednesday!! When I established service it took more then an hour hold time to get through. Once reaching an agent The prices were double of which we have no choice but to use this company. IT makes it so hard on the community to have only once choice. Im sure due to the cities benefit. Who are we to them after all. This service gets worse as the days go on. NO shows on pick up days . I have been very satisfied with Athens. They have responded with bulk pick up and with delivery of a new trashcan when requested.

The trash at our property has been accumulating for a week and a half. I tried calling Athens directly several times and am unable to get past the prompt. Thanks to a review I read below I called Sanitation Dept (800) 773-2489. They now have 24 hours to pick up the trash, I will continue to place complaints every single time the trash is not picked up when it's supposed to. I have time! :-) read more
