I had surgery and follow up visits and the doctors and nurses were great but the way this facility bills is crazy. The department bill separately and collect separately. We were only made aware of this by time my surgery bill would have been sent to collections. The surgery billing department was more than unpleasant to deal with even the supervisor. Never was told about payment plans but they were more than willing to take money monthly until they put us into collections. Hard lesson learned but the willingness to help out in a simple misunderstanding is unfortunate.

I'm very disappointed with the services and approach to customers of this medical entity for 3…read morefactors. (1) Saw the Ortho Illinois doctor the first time and they recommended MRI right away without much examination or exploration of my injury. It appears they either heavily rely on MRI due to lack of knowledge/ experiences or it's a business protocol/ process by sending patients to MRI from the start. No recommendation as what I need to do meantime to reduce/ minimize/ prevent the pain!!! (2) The Ortho MRI department called me constantly non-stop (2-3 times a week) wanting me to come in for MRI...even after I told them I will call them back when I can schedule it as it 's non-urgent matter. (3) I felt much much improved (almost normal) after 1-2 months without any help/ advice from the doctor but I still went for the MRI to ensure everything is good. Took the MRI and went in to see the doctor and the doctor opened the conversation by telling me I need a surgery due to one of the issues he saw on the MRI report as it will create an issue in a looooooong term. He did not address all other issues/ findings from the MRI and provide ANY recommendation/ explanation as what I can do meantime to better my hurt shoulder other then I'll run into problem many years later?? Additionally, the doctor was incapable of answering my question as why injury has improved/ cured to almost normal from last time (2+ months ago) I've seen him with the MRI results in hand. My summary of the visit to Ortho Illinois is they are: (1) Money hungry by pushing both MRI and surgeries (2) Bad process/ protocols on customer engagement/ treatment (3) Unprofessional and/or lacking physician(s) experiences/ knowledges. I WILL NEVER USE THEM EVER AGAIN!!! I'll also advise others not to!!!

Strange place. They all have the same tone of voice, I was soon annoyed by the patronizing "OK"…read more(which sounded more like "not ok). PT and OT are PUSHY. NO MATTER HOW PHYSICALLY ILL YOU ARE! I was shocked to attend a PT course on Safety how not to Fall, where an elderly gentleman who had clearly soiled himself (the smell was unbearable from 2 seats over) and he was left in his mess FOR THE ENTIRE PT COURSE!!! You wouldn't treat an animal this way! Terrible! Be careful sending elderly who can't speak up for themselves! For me, Never.Again. My severe Lupus was ignored and when I saw my Rheumatologist, he said they shouldn't have made me do certain PT/OT things. Zero stars, really

When the Assistant Administrator asked me how my experience was I couldn't say enough nice things and I told her that my PT and OT deserved raises! My PT did me the biggest favor by postponing my discharge date a few days so I could practice my skills more. I was disappointed at first, but afterward I'm glad I stayed. My case manager kept me up to date on everything I needed to know. The food was excellent. My room was spacious and comfortable. I couldn't ask for more if this were a 5 star hotel. And I sincerely mean that - no sarcasm intended.

If you enjoy being in SEVERE PAIN, this is the place for you…read more I came in with months of worsening spine pain (cervical through sacrum), plus a significant fall in March that left my lower back, sacrum, and hip in constant spasm. Things escalated to the point of incontinence, which should probably have been a clue that this is not a minor issue. During imaging, I was asked to position myself in a way that triggered one of the worst spasms I've ever experienced. I reacted involuntarily in pain and began crying. I was already in significant physical pain, and in that moment, I became emotionally overwhelmed. Without missing a beat, one of the x-ray techs in the room said, "that's how we know you're not faking it." I must have missed the marketing for this place, but here is my hot take: at ORTHOILLINOIS Spine Center in Rockford, we don't take your word for it--we make you prove it. Seriously, if your goal is compassionate care, or even basic awareness that pain responses don't need validation through suffering, you may want to look elsewhere. Empathy is NOT part of the intake process here. I have yet to be seen by the physician in charge--only the nurse practitioner (Kelsey). At this point, I'm less concerned with bedside manner (as I'm confident, it'll never get better) and more concerned that severe neurological and spinal symptoms are being treated like a checkbox exercise. No real diagnosis, just a steady stream of "come back in a few weeks" so they can run your insurance again and get paid. I don't know where they all went to medical school (I should look it up and send them this), but their alma maters should be embarrassed--and someone should remind them what the Hippocratic Oath is supposed to mean. Perhaps insurance companies should also take a closer look at where their payments are going. If your primary care physician sends you here, BEG THEM TO RECONSIDER.

I requested PTO from work to make this appointment, and had my PTO scheduled for 3 weeks, since my company requires two weeks before time is off. Ortho is roughly 25 minutes away from my house, so I left at 7:35am, assuming there'd be traffic. As I'm sitting in my car, waiting to go in, I got the attached text message at 7:57am, 33 minutes before my appointment, that it was cancelled. I was instantly annoyed. I understand doctors can miss work, but seriously, a text instead of a call? "Sorry for any inconvenience". Okay thanks, that makes it better. I received the call to reschedule at 8:44am. Sorry to that lady because she caught the brunt of my anger, but the "good morning, how are you?!" retriggered my annoyance. To be fair, I didn't give her a chance to say any type of apology, but sternly informed her about how incovenient it was to schedule PTO and to have the appointment cancelled 30 MINUTES before! If I were to call and cancel 30 minutes before, I'm sure there'd be some sort of cancellation fee. To finish it off, she then asked if I could reschedule for tomorrow. Ummm....no. I couldn't get PTO that quick (see sentence about 2 week requirement). I slightly snapped at her about how I already wasted 4 hours of PTO and I'm not going to waste another 4 hours tomorrow, so what I want is for them to send me my results and I'll take them somewhere else to go over. Yes, this is very Karen of me, but the tone and dismissive nature of everything, including the generic auto-text, just really pissed me off.
