They had the lights dimmed to appear closed. I walk in and nobody was at the front desk. I could hear laughing coming from the back room. Three minutes later what looked like a nurse came out and refused to help me. I called this morning and was told if I was there by 7:30 that I could be seen. This is not the first time that I've had problems at that location. I was supposed do do a pre employment drug screen. Now because of laziness and ignorance. I might miss out on a once in a lifetime opportunity. I'm so disappointed and upset that I don't know what to do. Physicians Immediate Care do better!

The surgeon was excellent- Dr. Thom…read more One thing that also helped is we had prepared prior to the surgery by buying the appropriate equipment (wheelchair, toilet bars for support in getting up, etc). So we were able to follow the doctors orders exaxtly with regards to non weight bearing. Following all of the doctors instructions to the t, being prepared, choosing the right surgeon, will all combine for a positive outcome.

I requested PTO from work to make this appointment, and had my PTO scheduled for 3 weeks, since my company requires two weeks before time is off. Ortho is roughly 25 minutes away from my house, so I left at 7:35am, assuming there'd be traffic. As I'm sitting in my car, waiting to go in, I got the attached text message at 7:57am, 33 minutes before my appointment, that it was cancelled. I was instantly annoyed. I understand doctors can miss work, but seriously, a text instead of a call? "Sorry for any inconvenience". Okay thanks, that makes it better. I received the call to reschedule at 8:44am. Sorry to that lady because she caught the brunt of my anger, but the "good morning, how are you?!" retriggered my annoyance. To be fair, I didn't give her a chance to say any type of apology, but sternly informed her about how incovenient it was to schedule PTO and to have the appointment cancelled 30 MINUTES before! If I were to call and cancel 30 minutes before, I'm sure there'd be some sort of cancellation fee. To finish it off, she then asked if I could reschedule for tomorrow. Ummm....no. I couldn't get PTO that quick (see sentence about 2 week requirement). I slightly snapped at her about how I already wasted 4 hours of PTO and I'm not going to waste another 4 hours tomorrow, so what I want is for them to send me my results and I'll take them somewhere else to go over. Yes, this is very Karen of me, but the tone and dismissive nature of everything, including the generic auto-text, just really pissed me off.

Big mistake. Perhaps if you are a young athlete, they might treat you differently, but as a middle-aged woman I was made to feel as if I was an imposition and simply not worth their time. The man who took my initial info. rarely made eye contact, not a good start. Then every time I went in, I was sent to a different therapist, so I would have to go over my condition each time. The space at this location is so limited that patients are often standing right next to each other on a small mat trying to do exercises without touching each other. Honestly, this was the most unprofessional, uncomfortable environment. Still, I completed my scheduled appointments as I wanted to get better, but since my improvement was non-existent and every visit was misery, I refused their suggestion to extend my therapy. I ended up getting another order from my doctor and went to NW in Sycamore, the best I have found in the area, and I improved each day. Maybe other locations for Ortho Illinois are better, but I would strongly advise checking them out first.

I was treated with the finest care and Dr. Barba's office staff is wonderful. Dr. Barba is an excellent surgeon! His bedside manner is terrific. My recovery was closely monitored and I always felt secure knowing that the office staff was always there if I had any questions. I was using a cane before I had my surgery and now I walk very well. At the age or 52, my life was given back to me through Dr. Barba. I highly recommend Dr. Barba. He is skilled beyond words!
