Update 1/19/26: Today I spoke with the office manager, Catherine Caceres, to try to get some resolution for my kittens dental case but this just devolved quickly. Catherine was combative, argumentative, belligerent, and the most unprofessional person I have ever dealt with. She actually started shouting at me! And to be clear, she tells me that the owner (probably Angela R. Mees) as well is unwilling to help my kitten with this situation! This is completely contrary to Catherine's site bio that states "Her primary focus is doing what is best for the pet and the pet's owner." How callous can they be?!? This practice looks at its patients as a $$$ source and nothing else. I paid over $2500 to correct my 8 month kittens bite and the treatment plan was a complete failure. The issues of his lower canine hitting his upper cheek as well as his inability to fully close his jaw still exist. These were the entire goal of his treatment plan. It was an outstanding FAILURE! This practice is more interested in looking good and collecting fees with no consideration of carrying out the treatment plan. The goal of the treatment plan was completely ignored and they seem satisfied with this. If you take your pet here be prepared to feel ripped off! You are likely to be out a large sum of $ and will need to take your pet to another practitioner to get a resolution. And don't forget the stress you are subjecting your pet to in the process! There are several competent dental vets in the immediate area. AVOID Atlanta Veterinary Dental Services!! I will be filing a complaint with the Georgia Attorney Generals Office. As such it will be subject to Georgia's Open Records Act and publicly viewable. Original post: I took my 8 month old kitten here after having a consult with another vet dentist in Cumming. I chose to go here because the treatment was more conservative by removing one tooth versus 2. My kitten has a developmental dental issue with his 2 canine teeth on one side where one canine tooth is hitting his jaw, causing irritation, and not allowing him to completely close his mouth. :( The other canine was hitting his incisors. So, he has a snaggletooth appearance. A little rough for an 8 month old kitten. The treatment plan was to do an extraction of the one tooth hitting his incisors, and a pulpotomy of the other, shaving down this tooth hitting his gum/cheek in the process. This treatment plan was a FAILURE! My little boy STILL has a snaggletooth appearance & STILL does not/cannot close his jaw completely. This misses the entire point of doing the procedure!!! I paid over the cost of a mortgage or rent payment at $2500 for this procedure, more than the estimate from the other vet dentist, and the results are unsatisfactory. I. AM. NOT. HAPPY! For this reason I CANNOT recommend anyone take their pet to this dental practice. read more

I notice that my 8 years old dog had to do some professional dental cleaning and I took her at this place . So I took her for the 1st appointment where the doctor does an evaluation and the diagnosis was to have a dental cleaning. ( blood works was done) Between the 1st appointment and the day of the cleaning , I had to send the primary vet information where they called to ask the patient's files. Yesterday was the operation day . 8:30am I dropped her 12:30: X-ray was done abs the veterinarian called me to explain what should be done, options and price . 3:30: they called me to update that it was finished and my Dog was recovering 4:15: my dog was ready to be released. ( 1 dental cleaning + 01 tooth removed + 02 tooth roots treated ) The staff is very friendly. I felt very secured with them as I had concerns about the anesthesia. I recommend this place . read more

Dr. Mees and her team gave our cat Thumper her life back. Thumper was suffering from an extreme case of stomatitis that caused her severe, constant pain and left her unable to eat or groom herself. Dr. Mees and her customer service rep Jessica went above and beyond to provide Thumper with as much comfort as possible and get her in quickly for her full-mouth extraction surgery. Within several weeks of the surgery, Thumper turned into a brand new cat full of energy and joy. Our regular vet later looked at Thumper's mouth to see how the surgery had gone, and said it was the cleanest, most precise and beautiful full-mouth extraction he'd ever seen. We will forever be grateful to Dr. Mees and staff. They are kind, responsive and so fairly priced. I highly recommend them for all of your furbabies' dental needs. read more

I have no words. Ok I have a thousand words but I will try not to write a book. What else can I say this place is amazing! I have used them 3 different times for different furbabies and they seem to get better every time. I recently brought one of my cats in. A Siamese who had some bad dental issues. I had actually taken her to my regular vet a month prior for a dental. She runs a low temp anyways for a cat but they called and said her temp had dropped way too low. I got worried and told them to pull her out. So they did and I told them I would just bring her to the Speciality dental vet I had taken my other ones too! Not only did they get me in a lot faster than usual, since they stay busy being they are so fantastic, but Arya was a completely different cat after the procedure than she was after I brought her home from her surgery at the regular vets office. It was like night and day. When she came home from my regular vets she was disoriented and unhappy and just miserable. Also had a hard time keeping her temp up the first day or so. Fast forward a month and I bring her home from Atlanta Vet Dental Services and she gets out of the carrier like "yeah I just had teeth pulled but it's ok I'm feeling good". What an amazing difference. I was worried about the last dog I brought there cause again at my regular vet they couldn't keep her blood pressure up. So they ended early. But at AVDS they had no issue with her blood pressure and she recovered so well from the anesthesia. I don't want to dump on my vet but I do want to let you know about the experience at the Atl vet dentist. Their receptionist Jessica is the bomb. She's very VERY knowledgeable and not just any run of the mill receptionist. She's sweet, caring and listens to clients. The vet is amazing too! When I went to pick up one dog who had her dental there I had actually had another of my dogs get a dental the same day at my reg vet. When she saw her in the car in my husbands lap shaking some she asked if she could double check on her and see what her temp was. She's just a whopping 3lbs so like Arya she gets cold easily. But I couldn't believe the empathy and care the dentist vet Dr. Mees showed to my babies that day. The rest of the staff is wonderful as well and they do great work on reviewing everything under the sun at checkout to make sure they cover it all. I am beyond pleased with this service and I highly recommend it to everyone in and around the area who needs dental services for their fur baby. read more

Not long ago our vet recommended teeth cleaning for our 3 year old boxer, Fabio. Since we treat him like a child we decided to take him to a dentist. What a wonderful discovery it was when I called Atlanta Veterinary Dental Service and spoke with Jessica. Not only was she very pleasant but knowledgeable and helpful. When we arrived at the office Dr. Mees examined Fabio and immediately noticed that he has several extra teeth, also a few bottom teeth missing but assured us that this is a common issue with this breed. I felt extremely confident to leave Fabio in her hands. Although he doesn't need any additional care I believe that a yearly visit is necessary for him. When we came to pick him up Jennifer, a veterinary nurse, clearly explained the X-rays and educated us about Fabio's future mouth hygiene. She even took a photo of him recuperating covered with a plush blue blanket. A know Fabio will miss them and come for a visit before his next appointment. read more

Dr. Mees and team did such a good job with my cat, Luna. Luna was diagnosed with feline stomatitis about a month ago by her regular vet. After researching independently, I decided a full mouth extraction made the most sense for my situation (against the advice of my regular vet). I met with Dr. Mees and she reassured me that I was doing the right thing for my little one. Fortunately for me, Dr. Mees actually had a cancellation the day I came in for a consult and they were able to take care of everything same day. Two days post- op and Luna is licking away at pate' and seems to be back to her usual self. The staff has been so great and patient with all of my calls and questions. I felt like I left my cat in the most capable hands- 10/10 would recommend Dr. Mees and team to any pet owner. read more

I had a great experience with Dr. Mees. She saved my dog's fractured canine tooth that the vet would have pulled instead. She took a lot of time to talk with me about what would happen, and her staff kept me informed throughout the day. She pulled some teeth that needed it, cleaned his teeth while he was under anesthesia, and he was fine when they called me to pick him up. The attention they gave before, during, and after the procedure was superb. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Mees and her staff. So if your pet has an oral issue, I'd definitely go here first. read more

After I made an inquiry with this care provider on the phone I decided I will not use their service. If they cannot politely explain or provide guidance on the phone to a human, they cannot be trusted with our pets. The vet may be the world's best but I'm definitely not going to leave my dogs with them for an entire day because the support staff sounds aloof and rude. read more

I'm surprised I'm the first person to leave a review considering this place has been in business for a while! Generally I like to read reviews before trusting someone with my pet, but since another vet referred me to them I decided to go through with it. I'm glad I did! My dog has had lots of problems with periodontal disease (loose teeth, falling out teeth, receding gums, etc). Finally after she got an infection I decided to bite the bullet and take her in for the dental and extractions that my vet had been recommending. Both the receptionist and Mr.Mees and Amy were very patient and answered all my questions. When talking to them I didn't feel rushed at all and I was able to get a good sense of what they were going to do. They explained everything and called me with updates throughout the day. The whole process was pretty quick and when I came to pick up my dog they showed me her xrays and told me about every tooth in (& out) of her mouth. Hopefully we won't have any future problems, but if she ever needs another oral surgery I won't hesitate to bring her back here. read more

As a retired feline veterinarian (Dr. Patricia Lane) I am extremely careful about choosing a veterinary dentist. I must be certain that the practice uses the safest anesthesia and monitoring, that dental radiographs are taken and that extractions are performed quickly and completely. Earlier this year I asked Dr. Mees to work on my old cat Weasel, who has kidney problems and does not need to spend a long time under anesthesia. I could not have been more pleased.
