I recently moved from Denver, CO and joined Charlotte Athletic Club primarily for the location and…read morewalkability to Uptown. From signup through cancellation, the experience was consistently poor. The signup process was unnecessarily difficult. You cannot sign up online or over the phone and must come in person. I arrived during hours I was told a manager would be present, only to find they had left early, requiring an additional visit to complete enrollment. The gym charges $150 per month per person, with additional costs for lockers, an extra month (extra $150) due on signup, and a facility improvement fee every six months. Despite the price, there is no coat rack or place to store even a jacket. Communication is "you must pay an extra amount for lockers each month" even though lockers are framed as an optional amenity. Charging for lockers in the first place is grubby. Every gym I've attended in the past includes them for free. Pool access is advertised. The pool is actually pool access passes included in membership to the Omni Hotel pool, we were told it was to be opened fall 2025, it has remained closed. This was communicated after signup. The equipment itself is fine, but there is no water bottle refill station, and the water available specifically says "don't fill your water bottle up". It's a gym. Who wants to use a small paper open top cup when working out. Bathrooms are often not clean. If you're coming in in the afternoon for workouts, the gym maintenance and cleaning happens then, so expect some vacuuming and hammering happening most days. But my primary issue is the staff experience relative to the price point. Front desk staff are often disengaged. A trainer instructed us to re rack weights that we didn't use. When we told him they were there before we used the machine he communicated "clean them up anyways". I rack weights when done using them. For $150 a month, if another gym member leaves weights behind, and this is noticed by the staff, I'd expect gym staff to care for the cleanup of other members weights left behind. And especially the first time, just unnecessarily hostile and unfriendly. There are many more similar interactions like this with staff. After I canceled my membership and requested my wife's remain active, a manager approached her requesting credit card information, the implication being "don't forget to pay" in a way that felt inappropriate. This is acceptable at a lower priced gym. Again, it's not what I expect at this price point. This is a premium priced gym with a good location and adequate equipment, but the service level does not match. I'm switching to another gym in the area.

Open most evenings and weekends.There is no reception desk, you wander in and go upstairs until you find ping pong tables. Most players here are serious about improving their game, and many players are quite high level. However, they are friendly and welcoming to newcomers. They also offer table tennis lessons. Thursdays are the wrong evenings to go, since that is their tournament night, and all the tables will be reserved for the competition, and you will only be able to watch. Other times they have enough tables for anyone to play once you know where to find them. Supposedly you should pay a 10 dollar visitor fee, but hard to know who to give it to. They get a great rating due to the friendliness to newcomers and visitors, having good tables and lots of balls. Most people bring their own paddle but they probably have a couple to lend. I would say the club is 90% male.

I pay since i was ensured they had a team ready to go. the season starts we only have 3 people for 4v4 volley ball and he doesn't do anything about it. Keeps the money doesn't issue and apology or anything. with two games left in the season he emails saying "i found you guys a fourth better late then never". These people are desperate for your money and will do or say anything to get that transaction. Plenty of wishful thinking and terrible communication. Months later I finally received my money back... and as a result of me asking for a refund he actually decides to remove me from the facebook group and ban me from sports link!!!! Absolutely insane.. I've never been so disrespected and dealt with a more unprofessional person in my entire life. So sad that the volley ball community has to go through this crook of a man who has a bit too much power....

Clearly showing that you don't really care about teams that have been loyal to playing through your organization and win championships continuously. Softball used to be so much fun through you guys. It used to be the thing to do. But over the last few years it has greatly taken a turn for the worse.Think it may be time to find other parks and organizations to play though. When I first joined, the staff themselves would add eucalyptus to the sauna water to create a pleasant aroma. Because that had been their normal practice, I asked if eucalyptus could be added again. Instead, a staff member accidentally added the wrong product, which created a strong burning smell in the sauna. Rather than taking responsibility for their own mistake, they blamed me for what happened and canceled my membership. What disappointed me most was not the mistake itself--everyone makes mistakes--but how it was handled. Instead of acknowledging the error and resolving the situation professionally, they chose to blame a loyal customer who had been coming there for nearly a year. I expected much better customer service and accountability. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this sauna.

I recently conducted an event at this center and I have to say, they made it seemless and fluid. From start to finish and everywhere in between, Ray was in constant communication and very prompt with sending contracts, information on parking, and even suggestions considering this was my first event! Upon arrival chairs and tables were already pulled so we could get right to business setting things up and he checked in once or twice to insure I had everything I might need. Before Ray left he connected me with another employee who would walk me through at the end to make sure everything was back as I found it and that gentleman was very helpful as well making sure we had everything we needed cleared and helped with the door and loading our cart. We were very pleased with the event space (Full gym) and lobby area as well as the convenience of location and couldn't ask for a better venue! The bar did run out of certain mixers for different cocktails which was disappointing especially knowing they were hosting a large crowd prior to a large sporting event. The line for the bar was rather long even though there were quite a few bartenders in the suite. I did love the ambience and the ability to watch the game away from all the action. Restaurant choices in the stadium were a little scarce + it was mainly fast food. I do understand it's a stadium but it would be nice if there were more than 2-3 options to pick up food. Signage was very confusing especially getting out of the suite to my actual seat. My seat was a few floors down from the suite and it felt like a maze to get to my seat + many agents seemed like they were giving simple directions but it took quite a while to finally figure out the signage and area after asking 4 people.
