I had an unusual project, installing a cat flap into a steel door. I don't know of anyone who does this type of job on a regular basis. The representative was very upfront (he'd never done one before) and was very cautious but meticulous, looking at templates that came with the cat door, measuring the garage door (which had structural ridges), etc. etc. He said, "I believe I can do it", and he did a GREAT job. And the cost was fantastic. I was shocked at the great price - usually contractors charge an arm and a leg. The fence gate required a locking latch to meet pool standard in my community. The gate latch is poor quality, --the latch will not open, or it sticks closed (requires oiling monthly, as well as constant adjustment to the latch). Discussed this with Dan on several occasions by phone or text (since installation in 1/2025). He inspected the latch during a visit and said it would be replaced. In addition, the installers cut the sprinkler system line in two places (the cuts in the line are obvious). Dan was told about the existence of the sprinkler system at time of purchase (installation team reminded as well). Two attached photos show cut in line adjacent to concrete (by shovel?), as well as cut in line where line sits atop of corner of concrete (zoom in on the photo). When I brought the gate latch to Dan's attention by text and voicemail (again earlier this week), he said no one told him the gate latch wasn't replaced. He said someone would drop by and repair/replace the gate latch, and he would repair the sprinkler line. I'm not sure why he expected me to remind him again about the gate latch (how many conversations does it take to get it done?). I declined to have him fix the sprinkler line as I already did the job myself (hopefully it doesn't continue to leak), and I didn't want to get into another back and forth with him about completing the work (as I experienced since 1/2025 about the gate latch).

I had have 10 Andersen windows installed previously, some Woodwright which I stained and some 400…read moreseries which I painted to match woodwork. All replacement. Matera installed some of them. Salesman this time upsold me new construction windows and I was leaving in a few days for a month so I wanted ot get them ordered. I painted them prior to installation. The installation was horrific - tiny cracks in the plaster now large requiring patching, pieces of plaster ripped off the wall requiring patching and painting entire walls. But the worst was the excessive and beyond shoddy caulking. I've never seen caulking so poorly done. Matera Bldrs.had completely redone my kitchen 9 years ago and the work, including caulking was excellent. This was appaling. I sent photos to Bob and he tried to defend work he knew was indefensible. He sent someone to try to fix some of the caulk but it was no better and I sent photos to Bob again. My woodwork is a different color then the walls and now there were no right angles, making painting sloppy. Bob and workers acknowledge that I am a good painter but this was impossble. Bob did discount the work some and did eventually apologize but that didn't help what was fairly pristine before the installation. They treated my $13,000 investment casually and carelessly.
