    Breakfast at the Inn..omelet
    Ali A.

We booked the Villa'd Porto Fino for a 2 night stay for 5 adults over a lovely sunny weekend in August. It is nice place to stay and they provide a very filling continental breakfast. The rooms are clean and well maintained, and even the boardwalk is very close (5 min walk). Unfortunately, there are a lot of other things that ain't right here and that has left a bad taste from the vacation. The first thing we noticed was that it is difficult to contact the Inn keeper, Val, as the phone# listed is not a landline, but a mobile. We had a few queries about our reservation before our vacation and left a few messages and even mailed him, but he never got back to us. We wanted to ask him about the parking situation as the confirmation email they sent mentioned limited spaces in their private parking lot. The important thing that they never mention on the phone is that there is a lot of free street parking that you will find around the inn. We had 3 cars in our party and all of us found free street parking for 2 days. We were forced to pay $37 for 2 days as they scare you as soon as you move in that there is no parking available. The bill also mentions that we have to pay $10 for complimentary water and other services....really?? how is it complimentary if we are paying for it? Secondly, Val, the inn keeper tried to scare us that we are in violation of city rules as there were 5 guests in our party and all of us will not be able to stay in the suite, even though we had paid for the extra person. Our complain was why did they have to take a payment on their website in the first place for the 5th person when it was illegal to do so? Finally, as other reviewers had posted, Val is a rude person. We found that out the hard way. One of our friends, who lives in Philly wanted to come meet us at the Inn, and called to ask the location and parking situation close by, and Val asked her all sorts of personal questions..where does she live??why are you visiting Ocean city, how long will you stay here? Maybe he thought we were adding her as the 6th guest to the suite! The experience of staying at the Inn for the guests can be enhanced and improved if the management works on their customer service skills.

This is our first time at a Bed and Breakfast- we don't want to book at a regular hotel again after being in a place like this. The reason for the four stars is that when we got to our room we were told upon arrival that the AC was broken in our room. I get it that things happen, but it would have been helpful to call us before we arrived to update us on important matters. We are simple people and we just dealt with it, but the weather that weekend was hot and humid. The fan is also old and got noisy when we cranked it a few notches so that didn't really help us much. Everything is beautiful, but we just did not appreciate any accomodations when we were told that the AC is broken. This won't deter us from coming back. We'll give them another shot.

John, Marj, and their staff are very professional and attentive while at the same time being very non-instrusive. The breakfasts were good and the room was spotless. The only negative thing is the sometimes lack of parking if you stay in-season. The Inn has three spaces and if you can't get one of them you might have to park a block or more away to get what you can. Overall the Northwood is a winner and the Best B&B in O.C.

5 stars to Plymouth Inn, a B&B - more to offer than most hotels and a lot more than any motel I…read moreever stayed in. I haven't been to enough B&B's make a comparison. Plymouth Inn in Ocean City NJ is a wonderfully restored B&B. The ambiance very well matches the tone of the city itself. It is calming, it is welcoming, it is quiet but has lots to do for both kids and adults and the very adult adults. (You figure out the meaning of "very adult", but when you are ready, read on.) I'm talking senior citizens. No mountains to climb. The biggest mountain we encountered were the ramps up to the Boardwalk. Back to the Inn. Our hosts, Nick and Shirley were helpful, accommodating, amiable, welcoming, friendly, enthusiastic. Would we go back? An unqualified YES! Being a B&B you can readily expect breakfast. No disappointment there. We were served very delicious, well prepared, appropriately cooked (Eg. Waffles, Pancakes, Quiches) breakfasts. Everything was fresh from the fruit salad down to the cakes and breads. There are two main rooms - the dining room and a living/music/game room. All well appointed. Really nice furniture and decoration in both rooms. For example, the flatware and dishes in the dining room were period appropriate. And, don't forget the front porch - shaded, rocking chairs, tables, all flanking the main entrance. On site parking, too. The bedrooms were well appointed. The beds were comfy for us, our adult children and grandchildren. Our room was a single room with Queen? bed and our kids had a 2 room suite with bathroom in between for them and the grands. Those were King? beds. Hot water, clean, comfy linens and pillows, .... were more than adequate. One comment, at first I was put aback by the fact that Ocean City NJ is a dry town. No alcohol sold, no alcohol served, no public drinking, no BYOB. However, all the other aspects more than offset this one. The vibe was very mellow and family friendly. Now, the boardwalk and beach itself. Isn't that a main reason for going to the Jersey Shore? It is reminiscent of the old Atlantic City of "rolling chairs" made from wicker pushed on the boardwalk, salt water taffy, fudge, ice cream shops, food shops, amusement opportunities like ring tosses, knock down stuffed animals with a baseball, take home dolls when you win...... The big difference is you pedal the surrey (the "Rolling Chairs"). I saw some surreys with 2 - 2 person bicycles linked side by side to the same frame that the riders power themselves. All the food, clothing, games, biking, theater, was there. Some were modernized like the mini golf with more sophisticated holes, shooting hoops (Don't ever remember seeing that in the late 40's after the war or 50's), baseball speed pitching,.. Go, you'll like it! I said "go!", especially to the Plymouth Inn.

For bed and breakfast lovers, it is perfect. Our host Nick was very hospitable and gracious and an excellent chef in the kitchen. The inn is elegant with an early 1900's flair. The room was vey quaint with a large comfortable bed. The dining room was very spacious with large windows that flood the room with light. Breakfast was delicious, with sweet cake, muffin, fruit, your choice of beverage and the main breakfast entree which varies from day to day. And to top it off, the Plymouth Inn is only one block from the boardwalk! For an extraordinary place to stay in Ocean City, NJ, I recommend the Plymouth Inn!!
