Cannot recommend this place enough. It was my first B&B experience and the bar has been set high. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with cookies and lemonade. Check-in and out was seem less. There was always someone at the desk to help us and they were very nice. They provide beach passes, parking is only $15 a day. The place is very clean, beautifully decorated and recently renovated (in the last few years). The rooms have their own AC units, beds are comfortable, bathroom is big with 10ft ceilings, a rain shower head for the perfect pressure and shower experience. Beds were very comfortable. Breakfast is from 6am-10am. You can help yourself to cereal and oatmeal but they also have different menu items everyday. Today was omlet with 5 toppings or a parfait. The meal was well balanced with an arugula salad and a healthy serving of a variety of fruit. Coffee, tea, milk and OJ available. I loved sitting on the porch in the rocking chairs throughout the day reading my book. They offer blankets and umbrellas. Lemonade, coffee, tea, cookies, and wine are available in the evenings sometimes. Water (hot and cold) available from their filtered machine. You can sit inside or enjoy the porch area where there was a nice breeze. The owner, Sne, can be found working at all hours of the day. From serving coffee in the morning, fixing something in the afternoon, and delivering ice cream in the evening. He takes great care of the place and it's decorated with antiques he has collected. Only a couple blocks away from the boardwalk/wateraprk. The hospitality, attention to detail, and cleanliness were unmatched. My elderly mother stayed here and had an awful experience with who she thinks was the owner-was very condescending to her when she has a problem with her room. My mother has traveled the world and is very travel savvy, she didn't expect to be treated with snark and sarcasm practically in her own back yard. Had such a lovely time at The Scarborough Inn in Ocean City, NJ. There's a covered, wraparound porch with comfy chairs where you can lounge, read or gab. They serve a hot breakfast daily. The rooms are spotless and gorgeously appointed. But on top of all of that, the staff were incredible. So friendly, warm, eager to help, happy to listen and chat, had terrific recommendations for local restaurants and shops, and were generally lovely to be with. Breakfast is a real treat, literally. Mine was prepared by Sne, who accommodated my gluten, dairy, and garlic allergies (I know, I'm a pain) perfectly with a divine shakshuka with corn tortillas. I am still dreaming about it. His tips about the top things to see in and around the area were spot on. Woven Place is a hidden gem recommended by Sne, and the beach is mere steps away. This inn is more than just a luxuriously comfortable spot to rest your weary head at night. It's also a place to meet new people, all of whom seem as friendly as Sne, and all of whom fell in love with his charm. I stayed just one night, but I will definitely return when I'm in the area. We were on an 11 day vacation traveling all over and staying here was the best nights sleep we had on our whole trip. I wish we had planned more days because we absolutely loved the place. Our room was very clean, the bed was amazingly comfortable and Sney and his staff was so polite and welcoming. It's a very homey, very cute adorable Inn. I can say with 100% certainty that the Scarborough Inn is the only 5-star, A+ accommodation on the island, except if maybe renting your own private yacht. In fact, I can make a solid argument the next best overnight rental on the island is only a B+. At SI, your treated like a welcomed guest, given a hot made to order breakfast that is equal to the finest morning meals found on the island. The outdoor shower is clean and orderly. Our family recently stayed at the Scarborough Inn for a weekend getaway during a major blizzard. Simply put, the staff and facilities are absolutely wonderful and we'll be sure to visit again soon! It all started off with a call into Monica the afternoon of our arrival day to upgrade our room knowing that we would be hunkered down in the impending 16 inches of snow. She was extremely accommodating and made the adjustments on the fly. When we arrived, we were immediately greeted by Sne who had the check-in process down to an art. We carried our luggage up to the third floor, with help from Sne, admiring the recently renovated interior, of which they somehow managed to keep the old Victorian charm. Our family was amazed walking into our Dueling Kings Suite. There was plenty of room for my wife and I in one room, while our son could enjoy his very own room. The rain shower in the bathroom was wonderful, and I fully enjoyed soaking in the tub which fit my husky body graciously. Both rooms had Smart TVs, as well as small refrigerators which came in handy. The staff picked up that we were celebrating my son's birthday so they treated him with some dessert and candy which was not at all expected. Nicole (Nikki) made us a great breakfast for our first day and provided information about what we could check out in town during the winter. Sne and Nikki also suggested that we check out the waves hitting snow on the beach, and we took their advice. It was quite the site and something that we haven't experienced before. We also had fun playing as a family in front of the inn while the snow fell around us, and Nikki and Sne checking in on us. Night time at the Inn was also astounding as we sat down with everyone and were able to share stories and learn more about each other. With technology at everyone's fingertips, we sometimes forget that simply chatting about life over beverages can provide hours of fun and engagement. Sne's mother was also in town, and she is a lovely human being and also chatted with us quite a bit. Monica made us a tasty breakfast on our second day and even catered to our young son. We had the pleasure of conversing and getting to know her as well. We spent the rest of our second day exploring more of snow covered Ocean City and checking out some of the landmarks recommended by the Innskeepers. My family and I left the Inn late afternoon, wishing we could have stayed another day or two. It's an understatement when I say that my fiancé and I LOVE this place. We go every year and this year was a bit different. The new owner Sne has done an incredible job revamping the entire inn. Positives: My wife and I enjoyed our 5 days here in December. Sne and staff made you feel welcomed as soon as one arrives. They carried in my wife's heavy bag up the steep steps. They have social hours and fresh bake sweets in the evenings. Also in the evenings, they had 2 different kinds of draft beers that one can help themselves too. In the mornings, they go out of their way to prepare the breakfast the way you would like. What really impressed my wife and I was how everyone would sit around, talk and laugh. Many of their patrons have been coming here for years and as they told us, "We wouldn't want to go any place else." Sne and his staff were very helpful with suggesting places to eat and also might have music in the evenings. They also have help yourself hot coffee and tea 24/7. Negatives: Safety is a big issue for us. There are no Safety Rails in the large shower stall. The metal basket in the shower literally fell off the wall before we put anything in it and with-in minutes after initially arriving in our room. It was being held by only suction cups. The only place one could put a tiny bar of soap or little plastic shampoo container was on the small window sill in the shower during our entire visit. There is no place to hang a wash cloth or a towel before, during or after taking a shower. Also while showering, water would leak under the glass wall and onto the outer bathroom floor and mat. We ended up mopping it up after each shower. I would throw the wet floor mat over the tall glass shower wall to allow it to dry during the day. My wife was too short to be able to do it. There was a small space heater that helped a little to warm the shower/bathroom floor. Most of the time the bathroom and shower floors were ice cold. read more

We were charged 484.00 per night to stay in this partially renovated inn. As we turned into the parking lot we saw rotting windows, peeling paint, and weeds growing up the building. We got out of the car and approached the front steps which also had peeling paint and were in poor condition. We were so dismayed that we left to find another place to stay. read more

The Scarborough is in need of exterior maintenance presenting a very poor first impression to guests. The window casings are rotting and peeling and the facade needs to be repaired and repainted. Unsightly weeds are growing up the side of the building as well. The main steps leading up to the front porch and entrance are also peeling. Found this beauty on hotels.com. What a find!! Lucked into a Fri-Sat night stay with less than a weeks notice. We stayed in the Carfagialo room #25. It is on the third floor. Our room was beautifully decorated and very comfy. We had a king bed and asked for a topper for the mattress. We also took advantage of $5/day rental of a fridge which was brought to our room promptly. The bathroom was clean and stocked with toiletries and lots of towels. I was impressed that they provide recycling containers and make it a point to let you know what steps they take to be "green". Each room has it's own window unit a/c. The staff was awesome and very diversified. We celebrated a birthday at breakfast on Sat morning. They young lady was sung the traditional happy birthday song in English, French, Russian, Chinese and Turkish. There was also someone from Jamaica on the staff. Breakfast is served every morning along with your personal copy of the local paper. There are light refreshments at 4pm available in the Butlers Pantry. Their wraparound porch is shaded and comfortable with plenty of chairs/rockers & tables. They provide an outside shower facility and parking. The grounds are meticulously kept with automatic watering for even the hanging plants. The attention to brand is evident wherever you look. I must say we were very pleased we took the chance and went down. It is about 3 blocks from the beach and very central to the boardwalk, business district and restaurants. And about OC NJ; it is a dry town. You must bring whatever adult beverages you would like to enjoy with you (hence the fridge). There is no public consumption of alcohol allowed in the town. But if you are discrete and have your beverage in a cup you may enjoy it on the porch. One other thing that you should know, there are lots of stairs and no elevator. I don't know that they are ADA friendly - but in all other ways it shines! read more

From the word go this is relaxing. There is abundant on site parking, the staff is at at the ready if you would like help with your luggage. You know how sometimes, at some places, you feel a little like you are being watched as if you were a potential criminal or something ?Not here. The owner assumes the best about everybody so you can wander around at ease. The home and rooms' aesthetic are all on pointe. Each room has fabulous bedding and high quality mattress, great tv, a fancy bathroom with all the best finishes (tile, stone, high end faucets, etc.). There is a chair and a desk as well as a steamer for your clothes, lovely dresser and place to hang clothes. Oh - a little dorm size fridge. Speaking of food, they have snacks around all day long. Good ones; like cereal, popcorn, home made cookies and candy, fresh fruit, marshmallows, drinks like diet coke and some wines. The breakfast options are abundant. During my three night stay there was a chef on breakfast duty. He was a legit chef willing to make or modify anything you ask for. They will serve you the hot breakfast at your table. A Realotor would call this a One Off piece of property because if its prime location. It's a block from the beach and boardwalk, a few blocks from a seriously good , small town shopping experience. You won't need the car unless you happen to like driving, Did I mention there is a fireplace and piano along with casually elegant furniture? I think the owner must have searched for the nicest people in the USA because every. single...... person..... is that nice. I have been here twice and know many others who have been there more than four times ! Just doesn't make sense to stay anywhere else down the shore. I own a shore home, too. But I like this one MUCH better. Don't hesitate because this is a huge win. read more

Our Family Visited the Scarborough Inn this summer 2014, and I have to say it was top notch. I was impressed with the staff and owners attention to the guests, the rooms were beautiful and spotless. The Breakfast was like no other breakfast I have ever had at a Bed and Breakfast, it was something I would have expected from gourmet kitchen, not just a few eggs tossed on a plate with a side of toast. We loved our 5 night stay at the Scarborough. Such a lovely, relaxing place. We stayed in "Amalyra"- two comfortable adjoining rooms separated by a bathroom. The layout was perfect for traveling with 2 teenagers. The Scarborough also offers so many amenities- a full breakfast each morning (served at private tables in the dining room or on the porch), afternoon snack, and beverages(including coffee) always available. There's also a nice lending library of books and DVDs(rooms have DVD players), and another common area with a computer and board games. The wifi connection is reliable. The large porch filled with comfortable rocking chairs is a great place to relax. The owners and staff were friendly and attentive. The location is perfect-a couple of blocks in one direction to beach/boardwalk, and in the other direction to the shops and restaurants on Asbury Ave. Scarborough would also be a great off season getaway read more

We were highly impressed with our stay at Scarborough Inn. It is an older, very clean and well maintained building that was nicely decorated. Our room, The Palm, was small but very comfortable and quiet. I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the bathroom since it is an older building. Everyone who works there is very friendly and accommodating. The breakfasts were quaint and not the typical breakfast that I'm used to eating. It was a welcomed change from the ordinary. The owners are amazing business people, but not decent ones and haven't any heart . In what would've been our 2nd annual stay, my husband and I were looking forward to a getaway just the two of us until in a span of two weeks I fractured my ankle and received devastating medical news: two SEPARATE possibilities of cancer. I was frantic, afraid and decided I didn't want to be separated from my 10 year old son AT ALL during our Tuesday-Friday stay. The room we selected could fit the 3 of us, but the owners refused to permit us to bring him citing a fire code. Because I booked the room with points through a third party vendor, the owners refused to let us select another week in a room designated for 3 people, citing that regulations mandated we deal with the outside party. That outside party isn't flexible either, but they're a faceless corporation, not real people who supposedly are programmed to feel sympathy and work in a business meant to facilitate happy times and make good memories. Not one shred of human compassion- no flexibility. So they get paid regardless-fantastic business people! read more

Once I stepped into the "lobby" which is actually a beautifully decorated living room with flat screen tv and a beautiful piano, I felt transported back to 1895, the year it was built. You can walk 2 blocks to water park, Boardwalk. Walk 1 block to cafes and the best ice cream parlor ever! Breakfast is cooked by Steve, the owner, and is delicious!! Afternoon snacks are a real treat ranging from cookies to German chocolate cake, and quenching your thirst with ice cold water and iced tea!
