I was picturing a gym full of meat heads I guess, which is not my scene at all. This place is further from that picture than you could ever get. The atmosphere of the place is actually very chill/relaxing. It's a big open space with tons of interesting looking equipment. Josh is probably the most friendly and welcoming guy you could ever meet. We even talked running a bit, and he is full of helpful information! The class we took, Sweat Shop, was not at all what I was expecting. Josh makes the workout not only interesting, but fun and I got to use some of that interesting looking equipment. I had never used kettleballs or weighted bats (not sure what they are really called) before! I left a little sweaty, feeling like I had a very good workout, and I had fun on top of it. I'm a little sore the day after, which my body knows it means I had a great workout that was a full body workout! It's way better than the typical gym circut where you just go from dull machine to dull machine. I will defintely be coming back for more classes at Gymnasium. I'm paticularly interested in Yogabells and the fencing classes.

I see him peering over a desk flanked by tall plants, smiling at me. It looks like he is briefing one of his coaches for the upcoming class. I take off my shoes, briefly speak with him and then proceed to the changing room. I noticed behind him was a lighted library of books ranging from Chinese breathing techniques to the history of European sword fighting. What a nice collection of varied interests I thought. As I grab a cup of water from the bubbler Josh informs me that although optional, I needn't to keep my socks on for the workout --part of the strength training involves training the feet, naturally. As I stretch out before class I see an older couple finishing up their kettle bell routine. They chalk up their personal best on one of the chalkboards on the wall. I see that one chalkboard is filled with quotations, comments and words of encouragement written by various members. Another board describes what 'theme' it is for the day. 'Stamina.' Today's theme is stamina I thought. Yesterday was 'Power.' Tomorrow is 'Strength.' The couple comes over and says hello to me and we introduce ourselves. This is pretty cool I thought. As I look around I see that Gymnasium is a nicely designed, large two section studio with cozy lighting, wooden floors, floor to ceiling mirrors along one wall and a huge Gymnasium logo emblazoned against another. Thick and heavy ropes hang from the ceiling, next to a row of pull-up bars. There are many tires stacked like a wall in one corner. A large variety of kettlebells and Indian Clubs line the back wall. There are also hurdles, metal stands, rope, straps, foam bricks, sandbags, fitness ladders, a peg climb and many other tools for circuit use. Intimidated, but curious. A coach comes over to me, extends a hand and says hello to me. 'Hello, my name is Marlon" I reply. 'My first day here.' Several more members fill the room as the clock winds to 5pm. The coach instructs us to get into a circle. The mild chatter quiets down as the coach-led group begins with a twisting and breathing exercise as 'Simple Minds' softly gets us into the mood over the gym's sound system. It's been a hair over two months since I've joined Gymnasium. I clocked in at 228 pounds the day I signed up. Today I am 202 pounds. I can't believe it. Twice the results, half the time. At first I was skeptical because there weren't any 45 pound plates, barbells and ellipticals which are usual staple found at regular gyms. At the risk of sounding cliché, this isn't a regular gym. After a few workouts I found myself crawling on all fours, doing planks, swinging kettlebells, hurling sandbags and performing an endless variety of floor work. The exercises are always changing weekly too. No chance for my muscles to become accustomed to anything. What is key, is that since the classes are small you get a lot of attention from the coach. There are always two or three alternatives to each type of exercise. An experienced member might perform a more difficult version of a pushup exercise while a new member might do them inclined along a wall. Gymnasium recognizes that each person is different. Another thing which is cool is that the community at Gymnasium is very fun, social and lively. There are tables and couches to sit and read from the library, sip tea or coffee which Gymnasium provides, or just to hang out. Josh organizes many other fun events such as evening runs, a variety of seminars, kettlebell challenges and a 60 Day Food Challenge in which I am currently involved. There is a great deal of personalization and interaction which is seldom if ever found at other gyms. I am simply flabbergasted as to why I don't see a lot more people doing natural movement exercises like the kind found at Gymnasium. However, I do know that this style of training is increasing in popularity. Also this type of training isn't as 'sexy' as pushing 10 pound plates on a machine. But for the record, given by my results I would never step back into a 'regular' gym--not if being strong and balanced, moving optimally and losing weight was my goal. 2/25/13 Sincerely, Marlon V

I have been a member at Title Boxing Watertown for the past half-year or so…read more Around a month ago, I approached the staff at Title Boxing Watertown (Massachusetts) and asked them to cancel my membership as I planned to move to New York. The staff told me to cancel my membership in the app, but the app cancellation did not work. I went abroad right after so was unable to get in touch with staff subsequently The cancellation did not happen, and I went to the owner, Sean Lally, and asked him to cancel and not charge me on October 23 (the 23rd is my billing date) because I had made an in-person cancellation request. He again told me to go through the app and refused to honor my cancellation request that I had made previously. I tried to cancel in the app, and the cancellation was not working again. I was shocked by what happened next. When I asked the owner, Sean, to come to some arrangement so that I would not be charged for an entire month that I would not be able to use, he was very rude and refused to come to any sort of mutually satisfying arrangement. Moreover, he told me that it "convenient" for me that in-app cancellation was not working. When I told Sean that he runs his business in an unfair manner, he began to stereotype me and told me "that is why you don't own your own business." When I asked why he thought I didn't he replied "I just assume you don't." This is when our interaction turned from mere rudeness and unprofessionalism into utterly inappropriate behavior. Shortly thereafter, Sean told me to "get out." Needless to say, I no longer feel welcome going to Title Boxing Watertown.

I came for class on a Saturday morning and was pleasantly surprised at the customer service and quality of the class. I was greeted by 2 instructors, filled out a waiver, and got situated with what I needed for class. They allowed me to use the slip on hand wraps that I has previously from boxing at another location, but recommended getting their wraps next time if I continue to box there. Wraps are $10 and glove rentals are $10, which I didn't use since I own my own pair of boxing gloves. There were a few other new people so our small group went into the boxing ring to review the technique for the 6 different punches. After that we joined in the class for the rest of the warmup followed by 8 rounds on the bags and ending with a core workout. For your first class, you will have 1 round of sparring with an instructor to make sure you are doing correct technique and to allow you to feel more comfortable as a boxer. This was super helpful and fun to do. The boxing ring is only for practice and no actual fighting occurs. The punching bags are 100lbs that hang and can swing around a little bit when you're punching. The instructor demonstrates in the middle and walks around to check in on everyone. The instructor we had sounded a little aggressive, but kept motivation high for people to keep going which fit in with the boxing vibe. This is absolutely an amazing place if you want to learn how to box and get a superb workout in as well. I hope to be back someday to take another class.

After work and with no car yet, I find myself stuck in my apartment with nothing to do and no nearby gym to go to for a workout. I am not the most sports-lovin' person, but I love attending kickboxing classes here! The instructors are all incredibly friendly and good, and even if you can't do a specific move there is always modifications available. It's an hour long and the first 10 minutes is usually the toughest - they make it fun! Classes switch up each week, working on different parts of your body. There are multiple class times available each day, which makes it really convenient if you miss your usual class - you can just join another! I usually go for the evening classes which have about 10-15 people, and starts off with around 20% bag work, and more circuit trainings/sets afterwards. Outside of the awesome workout itself, the studio is like a little Natick community.. lots of cute kids coming in for Jiu Jitsu, HIIT Kickboxers, parents waiting for their kids etc. I'm glad I found it!

They all appear to be teenagers, so they don't have customer service one could hope for. -they're a little extreme with their shoe policy. You can't wear shoes from the outside inside, and prepare to have one of the teenagers tell you off. If you're like me and accidentally wear them into the parking lot to grab something from you car, prepare to take them off and do the workout barefoot. So, take what you will from it!

Our son started taking classes from Paul and Jason right when he turned 4, about 7 months ago. Although our son was the youngest, Paul and Jason managed to teach him in a way that was simultaneously appropriate for his developmental level and also allowed our son to feel like he was undoubtedly part of the group. Paul and Jason manage to strike just the right balance between between firm and warm, allowing the kids to have fun and also emphasizing the importance of respect and discipline. Paul is also just an incredibly kind person, and really seems to love teaching and helping his students to learn and develop emotionally, cognitively and in terms of karate skills. We also really appreciate the flexibility of the schedule and the cost - much better than other nearby karate schools we considered. Lastly, the warm, friendly community of parents and families has been an unexpected bonus. We are so grateful we have found USK and we are looking forward to our son continuing to go there and our younger son joining him when he is old enough.

I can't say enough about the bang for the buck and quality of training at United Shaolin Kempo. There's also a free one week trial if you're on the fence and you can pay as you go if you don't want a contract. As far as cons go, I will say, the building the school is in is not state of the art, it's rough around the edges and parking can be tough on Moody, although there's parking right around the corner on Chestnut st. Those things aside, if you do your research you will see the prices here can't be touched and it's a great positive learning environment.

The open gym has all the equipment you might need and there is plenty of open space to work out in plus heavy bags, speed bags, and two rings. The negatives since that is what we read the review for (to see if a can live with the negatives) there are no showers so going before work can be a challenge. But they have a good afternoon and evening schedule for after work. Also they are really laid back. Which is great because I didn't feel pressure to join and sign a two year agreement and buy a bunch of equipment. But at the same time my wife and I went twice to sign up and it was hard to get someone to take our money. But they did and we are loving it so far. Highly recommend kick-boxing.
