I arrived a few minutes early, so I got a chance to soak in the atmosphere of the bright, spacious lobby. It didn't take long before I felt completely at ease. My visit with Dr. Kellett was a long and thorough one. From the way she answered my questions, I can tell that she was a true professional who was very knowledgeable in her area of expertise. We had a detailed discussion about my condition, and she recommended several treatments while explaining the pros and cons of each option. Throughout our meeting, she remained kind, patient, and very sensitive to my feelings. Since then, I have been visiting DLK on Avenue for over a year and my impression remains largely the same. However, I was given a skin lighting cream to use in conjunction with my treatments and was not told that I needed to stop three days prior to my appointment. I ended up going to my appointment but was told that I needed to move the appointment to a different day since I had just used a lightening skin cream that morning. I was told to email the director to reinstate my appointment. In January he emailed me back and reinstated my appointment. I then went to the appointment he reinstated. Please find attached screenshots for reference of our communication. That happened in January and fast forward we are now in April. As time passed I really wasn't satisfied with the service provided so I decided to leave a review a week ago. After my review the owner unprofessionally revoked my last treatment session coming up in May. This was a complete separate appointment with a different laser which I paid for separately from the one he reinstated. I have already paid in full and he has not provided me a refund. He decided to cancel my last upcoming appointment out of spite due to my bad review and is trying to link it to the missed appointment that he already reinstated in January (almost 5 months ago). I truly wish I had read reviews before booking at this establishment. My background as a nurse gives me a different perspective. Some staff members seemed underqualified, contributing to an uncomfortable environment from the beginning. During my second laser session, the nurse appeared unsure of how to use the laser and needed assistance. The procedure was incredibly painful, resulting in scarring. Despite assurances that this was normal, the pain was intense, and six treatments have not improved the scars. I need to mention that a-lot of 5 star reviews are misleading because the owner often reinstates appointments in exchange for reviews. While I understand that not every client will have a negative experience, it's crucial to take the poor reviews seriously. Sometimes the issues can be remedied by how it is handled. However, the way the owner handles issues at this company demonstrates a lack of professionalism and extreme immaturity. In response to any criticism, he decides to just cancel your appointments unethically. TOTAL $230 I took my daughter there for a consult for a gentle chemical peel for acne and oily skin. The esthetician (NOT Dr. Jenn) with 20 years experience gave her a gentle peel with no salicylic acid which is necessary, it did nothing; it was basically a moisturizer and I wasted about $110. In addition I was sold a $98 acne product that expired 15 months ago. They did refund with no issue and apologies. There was pressure to buy their line of products. I will get her another peel but I will not go here. 2. TOTAL $2300 I was on the wait list for a surgical procedure which they did also support and recommend for me. In the meantime, while waiting to surgically get rid of my puffy under eye I decided to try a dermal filler. I REALLY wanted something to help me out. They did not do my eyes because of the pending surgery but other areas of my face to help smooth it out - the results were minimal, the Total cost was $2300. I ended up getting the under-eye surgery and they dissolved all the filler anyway so the money was a complete waste anyway. Dissolved! I didn't know enough about all of this stuff but I certainly have learnt my lesson! Sharing if you are in the same position. Dr Jenn, did follow me through the journey of getting the surgery and I appreciate that but it doesn't get me the money back which was a small vacation's worth! 3. TOTAL $980- I did get Botox in my forehead - totally worth it, great results no bruising or any side effects. Total Spent $3500 Total Spend worth it $980 - not a good return on investment.
