When booking days in advance, I was asked if I had any special requests. I wrote that if they had any spare decorations, just a simple 'happy birthday' would be nice on the door, and I 'll leave in the same condition when we check out. I received a confirmation immediately that they would be able to do that at no extra cost. When we got to our room, there was no decor, and no jacuzzi. For whatever reason, the listing of the rooms available does not mention which rooms have the jacuzzi, so I had booked the wrong room by mistake. I went down to the lobby, and let the man know that (1) there was no decor, and (2) asked if I could upgrade the room to one with a jacuzzi. He told me that he never got a notification about the decor, but I showed him the messages, and he said that he didn't know who confirmed it; no big deal I guess. He also quoted me on the upgraded room, which would cost more than the price on booking.com. I told him it's not a problem, and to charge my card on file. I had to confirm the higher price about 3 times before he finally gave me my keycard to the room, and asked to hold on to my Driver's License as a 'deposit' for the keycard. The next morning at check-out, he mentioned again that he gave me a room that was more expensive, I told him, again, that was fine, and asked him if he needed my card, to which he replied 'why would I need it - it's on file?' He said he can't charge me until I agree to the new rate, which I reminded him that I said yes 3 times the night before, and I am confirming again right now, and also offering my card to pay the remainder. For some reason he became angry, and asked us "who's birthday was it?" I pointed at my partner, and the man responded "happy birthday, the room is on us" in the most sarcastic tone. My partner and I were both confused, and left. *CORRECTION* My original booking.com itinerary does say there's supposed to be a jacuzzi in the room, not my mistake*

Nowhere in the property description did it say there is a "party" in the courtyard that begins at 8:30pm. Screaming, singing, shouting. Slamming doors. The way the property is shaped, there is no avoiding the noise. The u-shape of the rooms means that almost every room opens onto the courtyard. Had I known this would be going on, I definitely wouldn't have booked here. On a weekend, I might understand it a bit more... but a Tuesday? The property needs to figure out what it wants to be: a budget-friendly hotel or a frat house. The location is convenient to Hollywood... but I'm not sure why you would want to be in Hollywood these days with the increasing crime rate and growing population of unhoused. The property is just on the outskirts of where things might get a little rough, in my opinion. As I was walking from the west down Hollywood Blvd, about a block and a half before I reached the hotel, a gentleman reached down into his sock, pulled out a knife, and proceeded to walk down the street with it cupped in his hand. The Salvation Army is right across the street, so take note if you walk on that side, you may be asked for money by those in line, like I was. Hollywood was cleaning up for a while, but there are some large tent camps just off Hollywood Blvd, about two blocks to the west. The two positive things about the property: - fast internet - room was clean - affordable on site parking I wouldn't ever stay here again - unless I wanted to party and not sleep. I've stayed in plenty of hostels around Europe and have found that the common areas don't affect the rooms. That's not the case here. I booked a private room for a reason. Do. Not. Recommend.
