This is the only gym in the neighborhood that makes you QUARANTINE for 14 days just to start your trial class. You are not allowed to drop in, have to make 48 hour prior appointment for a class because of covid. It's 2022. Even our government doesn't have restrictions anymore. Why are they being paranoid? Their website said I can provide a negative result to take the class faster so I told them I'm willing to provide negative test result. Then the management literally replied with a threat saying "we will ban you if you show up before 14 days." Then they sent me another email saying they won't accept me as a member and etc while I was writing this review. How do you expect to teach people martial arts when you are this paranoid, rude, and irrational? I've been to few local gyms here but this is by far the worst experience just by contacting them. Glad I didn't even waste my time attending here.

I love this place. I…read moremoved here from Denver for a job and the first thing I did was look for a Muay Thai gym recommendation, and this was the gym that was recommended. It was so important to me that I even chose my house to be close to this gym. When I got here it did not disappoint. Almost immediately I met kru Jom who has since taken my Muay Thai to the best level. To be completely honest, I move with a lot of Ego. I thought I had to be fast , strong, and impressive in order to be "good at martial arts" and kru Jom called me out immediately. "Sahira, I need you move more. Too tense" and "Sahira, I need you play more". In the 5 month I've been working with Kru Jom I've become more playful and relaxed in my motion, which is also translating into my regular life. Anger issues have noticeable decreased and I find myself applying Kru Jom's life philosophy into my healing practice as well (I'm a chiropractor). Kru Jom is my guy, and the entire gym holds excellent standards and requires high levels of discipline from me, which is the environment I thrive best in. "Train. Win. Repeat." is our motto, and it holds true both in the gym and outside of the gym. If you want friends to sweat with, play with, and get better with, this is the place for you. Oh, and we have a cold plunge and sauna as well as an entire boxing ring. The amenities are great, and the community is better.

She was incredibly kind, took the time to walk me through moves, get to know me, and tailored the class to all levels. It was a full body workout with empowering individuals. If I lived in the area, I would definitely be a member! There's plenty of parking in the front, and the studio is conveniently located in a small plaza. Their door is marked & just head up the stairs. These incidents took place before covid. They were not ok then and they're not ok now. But I would not be writing this review if an adult instructor at the PK Kingstowne dojo had not been arrested for multiple counts of "carnal knowledge" of a minor a few years ago. Worse yet, there had been problematic behavior involving another teenager at this dojo and I can draw a direct connection between that and the above incidents. In 2019, an adult instructor and a teenage female student at this dojo began interacting under questionable circumstances in a questionable manner. Both denied any wrongdoing, but the behavior was highly inappropriate regardless. I insisted that PK address the situation. Although management ultimately responded with the requisite seriousness, it took repeated prodding by multiple adult students. Afterwards, I was vilified by a gaggle of paid and volunteer instructors across dojos. It should go without saying that no minor should be spending time alone with his/her adult instructor at odd hours in odd places without parental knowledge. Just as important, even if nothing happens initially, something is very likely to go awry if the adult and teenager continue to put themselves in situations that offer opportunities to slip up. This is basic knowledge you'd expect from anyone in an authority position over minors. Unfortunately, multiple PK instructors betrayed an appalling degree of ignorance, if not outright recklessness. A gossip factory thrived, and the resulting culture fostered an environment hospitable to sexual predators. In late 2021, after multiple PK instructors had vilified me for over two years, the previously mentioned instructor from the Kingstowne dojo was arrested for sexually assaulting a male teenage student. I had moved out of the Northern Virginia area by then due to a family tragedy, and I've not had time to write this review until now. What I'd like to see first and foremost is accountability for reprehensible behavior and changes made to prevent future sexual harassment and assault. In particular, I'd like to see the following written in black and white as PK employee policies AND conveyed as mandatory requirements to every paid and volunteer instructor at formal training sessions. 1. No adult instructor, from any of PK's dojos, should be spending time alone with a teenage student outside of the dojo, under suspicious circumstances, in an inappropriate fashion. PK should not assume that an instructor understands what "inappropriate" means and hence must make sure each instructor is properly educated. 2. No adult instructor and teenage student should LOOK LIKE they're dating, involved with each other romantically, or engaged in inappropriate physical interactions, even if no actual physical contact is taking place. 3. No adult instructor should go out with or have sex with a teenager even after she or he reaches 18. Every parent who sends a child to PK would instinctively know why such behavior is totally unacceptable, even if it's not illegal. I have no evidence that this has occurred at PK, but I did find it disturbing that some of the instructors appeared not to have the slightest understanding of this basic concept. 4. Any instructor who violates the above policies will be suspended or prohibited from teaching. 5. Any instructor who seeks to thwart PK's enforcement of the above policies should be suspended or prohibited from teaching. Instructors who have engaged in such behavior in the past will be required to sit down with a senior member of PK management and will be informed, in no uncertain terms, that their past behavior will no longer be tolerated. If PK were to enact these changes, I will delete this review.

I'm not a great fighter at all but muay thai is something I truly love. I look forward to it at the end of the day and see it as something that gives and rejuvenates me rather than taking away from me. Anyways, I came to TAG MT during a business trip and had known about this school already from watching TAG MT youtube instructional vids. I came early and got to see the kids class. It's a great balance of technical drills but also having lots of fun as the reward. The coaches are great and the kids look up to them, fully engaged and are adorable in their big Muay Thai shorts :P Head Instructor Kru Chris Aboy has an amazing personality and teaching style. His encyclopedic knowledge and teaching methodology is phenomenal. He can read each student individually while also making adjustments to the class as a whole depending on where everyone is at with the previous drill. You don't feel left behind at all. Coach James is amazing as well leading the partner drills and demos (for both Kids + Adults). In general, Phase 1 covers fundamental techniques including movement, defense, attacks, and counters through progressive partner drills. Coaches will demo technique, then go around reading students and providing helpful corrections and explaining the reasons why. Calistechnics and shadowboxing in-between rounds really push the conditioning. Controlled sparring drills towards the end adds just enough unpredictability yet retaining safety and technique. Phase 2 builds upon Phase 1 and adds in more advanced drills, focusing on more advanced strategies and technical sparring. For seasoned nak muay, TAG offers an in-depth knowledge and well rounded in all aspects. I really love their elbow/knee/clinch game. Nothing is watered down at all. I learned a LOT of new details to improve my technique is just one session. Most importantly, I felt taken care of and safe the entire time. If you live in the DC Metro Area and are interested in learning Muay Thai, whether it's for self-defense or competition, I strongly suggest checking out TAG Muay Thai. You will learn authentic, pure hard-hitting Muay Thai at TAG, along with the humility and respect of Traditional Muay Thai.

OneLife Old Town Alexandria update January 2026…read more Looking back to July 2025 when I first reviewed Onelife Fitness - Old Town Alexandria, VA, things have only deteriorated. Apparently corporate management determined not to allow any additional time between the end of the 11 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday Tai Chi classes and the noon start of Functional Lab (on Tuesdays) and BodyPump (on Thursdays). As a result, participants in the Tai Chi classes are still in the room at 4 minutes to noon, because management has elected not to change the schedule to permit more time in between these classes. Today the Group Fitness Director was personally present before the start of the noon Functional Lab class, and deflected concerns raised by participants waiting to get set up for the noon Functional Lab. She dismissed those concerns: she imagined, hypothetically, that participants in the Tai Chi classes would reject the schedule change, saying that if the 11 a.m. class ran from 11 to 11:50 instead of 11 to 11:55 a.m., it would appear that this was a "Tai Chi Lite" class. That hypothetical seems to ignore reality; it also permits continuing disrespect shown by the Tai Chi instructor toward both her peer instructors and participants in the noon classes. As the Fitness Director personally witnessed today, the Tai Chi instructor was still holding class at 11:56 a.m., disregarding the schedule. Whether this approach is due to the Tai Chi instructor's deliberate disrespect of the incoming class (and the respective instructors) or simply her inattention to the time, management has yet to effectively address this problem.
