Let me first say that I am not a resident (currently). I completed a tour with India today and the woman makes it hard to say "No". That is saying a lot because the property is absolutely amazing. All I say is that you get what you for. You will certainly get your money's worth here. I originally spoke with Joseph on the phone and he let me know he would be off that day but his coworker would take care of me. Enter "Queen India". India is extended professional and knowledgeable in her field. She will take the time to sit with you to gather what is important to you. She then will take that information and customize a tour like no other. She has lived in metropolitan areas and knows her market. The building is beautiful. Amenities are like no other. If you are familiar with the NEMA building, ATLAS has more to offer. My only con is the small bedrooms. However, I know living in the city in a high rise, you have to compromise on something. I've lived here since March, and not only is the building beautiful but the staff go out of their way to make sure that the residence are comfortable. Joseph, Amy, India, Roosevelt, and the rest of the staff have became family. Being someone from Oakland I've seen thing change for the good and the bad, the Atlas is apart of the good. The residence are not only diverse, but also good people. If your looking for a community full of love and luxury then the atlas is the place. The hot water is perfect. We moved into Atlas in May of 2020 and have spent a little over half a pandemic-tainted year here so far. We checked out several apartment buildings in Oakland, and we are extremely glad to have chosen Atlas. The pandemic created a lot of hurdles for apartment tours, but Atlas managed to stand out in this aspect. Joseph helped us out from the outset-- he provided us a personal virtual tour, promptly responded to our million requests for pictures/videos, and eventually gave us an in-person tour of two units he thought we would like. The entire experience was top-notch, and Joseph is a man of his craft. I really appreciated how well they adapted to the circumstances and that they still allowed my wife and me to get a solid sense of what living at Atlas would be like. Living here so far has been pretty ideal. It's pretty clear how beautiful the spaces are, so words won't do much justice. The staff has been incredible and consistently accommodating, especially Roosevelt and Richard. Roosevelt's got a smile that you could see through a mask. The mail system has been really secure and convenient. The doggy area they created has been a game changer for us, and we're looking forward to using the pet bath station they've recently completed. They also announce pretty cool events about every month or so, e.g., virtual paint-your-pet night, happy hours (delivered to your doorstep). There is nothing worth complaining about so far. I've been living at Atlas for a few weeks now, and I'm still in shock at how amazing it's been! There are so many perks I had to break it down by category: *Rooftop Lounge Area* Omg... the views! Also has pool tables (multiple!), shuffleboard, and fun hang out areas. *Pool/Hot tub* I almost never see anybody down here! Long enough to do laps (but definitely not 25yds long). Shallow on all sides with stairs on the long side, great for lounging. *Mail/Packages* Super convenient package area that can be accessed on an app! *Gym* Not a gym person, but this gym inspires me to try! It's on the top floor and you can see the whole East Bay. Gotta wear sunblock in the morning because it gets pretty sunny! *Individual Apartment* We toured four different 1 bedrooms and ended up selecting one on the 11th floor and couldn't be happier! Perks: gas range, bar counter area, hidden dishwasher, in unit washer and dryer, walk-in closet, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a balcony! (Didn't know I needed this in my life 'til now lol) *Neighborhood* I originally wasn't too excited about living right in the middle of downtown, but now that we're here I'm definitely enjoying it! Bart is one block away, Lake Merritt a few blocks away, and Chinatown restaurants super close too! *Community Events* Atlas hosts "First Fridays" once a month with free drinks and snacks! They also have workout classes (haven't been to any yet, but really excited to check it out!) read more

If you want someone who is thorough, call and set up an appointment with MILON! She is so charismatic and was talking to us throughout the entire tour. While asking us questions to get the feel for what we were looking for, she started us on the first floor by introducing us to the guard at the front, she showed us the mailroom and the clubhouse where my 2 year old son couldn't stop screaming "billiards" out of excitement that they had a pool table in there. You can see the swimming pool from the club house, which she showed us and a heated jacuzzi! I could tell Milon was listening because my hubby and I were talking about the gym and how we hate waking up so early to have to drive 15 mins from our current home to get to the gym. She proceeded with the tour and took us straight up the elevator to the gym. The gym at Atlas is top of the line! And for it to be on the top floor with a superb view was icing on the cake! Then there were more clubhouses ... which was jaw dropping and also located on the top floor. There was a theatre room, a glass fireplace at the center of one of the rooms, and a balcony that is perfect for hot or cold days as there are fireplaces outside as well. And our last stop was the two bedroom unit she showed us which not only had a breathtaking view but she captured what my family and I envisioned how we wanted the layout of our home to look like! Even if my family and I dont decide to choose Atlas as our next home, Milon helped us open our eyes to the difference of leasing agents who know their craft. Douglas Parking mismanages the garage like you wouldn't believe, the walls and ceilings/floors in the podium building are paper thin, and I had to buy test strips, test the hot tub myself, and post the results for the community to see because management kept insisting that it was balanced and clean even though it smelled like dirty gym socks and was just disgusting. From huge furniture deliveries to favors when my printer broke while WFH, this group has made me feel so at home. We moved during COVID and I can honestly say I have never had an easier experience. My girlfriend and I have been living at Atlas since the beginning of June, and we couldn't be more in love! From the building to the amenities to staff to the location, Atlas checks all the boxes, and we're happy to have found our home here in downtown Oakland. First things first -- the staff. While we initially moved to the downtown area in November, unforeseen circumstances led us to start our search again in April for a new location. We were instantly drawn toward Atlas after viewing the property online and in-person. When we inquired and found out that Joseph was a leasing agent at Atlas and would be assisting us (who toured us/helped us find our previous apartment and continued to stay close with), we knew we were in the best hands. Joseph has proven time and time again that he truly cares, and will stop at nothing to make sure that everything is the perfect fit. We had a few crucial factors that we were looking for in our next apartment and Joseph worked with us closely to ensure that we were making the best decision as far as the unit we selected, leaving no stone unturned. Joseph's energy, positivity, and overall infectious demeanor made every step of the process as fun and painless as possible, and he's continued to be an advocate for us well beyond our move-in. Additionally, the concierge team could not be more top-notch! Roosevelt and Richard have done an amazing job at making us feel at home right away, whether it's been setting us up with all of the building access apps, troubleshooting package delivery issues (and going to bat for us to USPS!), or generally making sure that we have everything we need. The building/location: We were instantly drawn toward's Atlas' visual aesthetic. While the main tower is still under construction, the lobby of the smaller, 8-story building makes you feel like you're walking into a luxury hotel. The parking garage, tucked behind two separate garage doors and an access gate, gives you that extra layer of security and sense of ease, as cars are not visible from the street level. They also have a handy package room paired with a companion app that makes package delivery a breeze (they even have lockers for refrigerated packages, which has come in handy with our Blue Apron orders). The building itself is right in the thick of downtown Oakland, so you couldn't ask for better proximity to BART (12th. St is a few steps away), shops, bars, restaurants, and Lake Merritt. Additionally, Jack London Square is a 10-minute walk/2-minute drive, while the shopping centers in Alameda are a mere 5-minute drive (Safeway, Target etc.) Finally, amenities: While a fair amount of the amenities are still under construction with the tower, the ones that would otherwise be available, such as the pool area, are unfortunately closed in accordance with guidelines mandated by the county in response to COVID-19, which is of course out of Atlas' hands. However, we could not be more excited for them to start opening up and becoming generally available, as Atlas boasts some awesome amenities (to the tune of a 41st-floor rooftop deck with panoramic views of Oakland, Berkeley, and the Bay!) All in all, we could not be happier with our decision to move to Atlas, so if you're in the hunt for your next home, look no further! read more

DO NOT LIVE HERE (OR ANY OTHER GREYSTAR PROPERTY!) Despite the many, many issues fellow residents reported around safety due to the location, poor conduct from other residents, hidden costs and fees, and lagging building repairs, I actually liked living at Atlas for most of the 2+ years I was there because of the thriving community, the friendly concierge, and the amenities. That said, the reason I'm leaving one star is because after I moved out, it appears they are trying to scam me out of my deposit (something I've learned is common with Greystar, Inc.-owned properties). I moved out in November after following their move-out instructions to the letter, and was careful to leave the apartment in excellent condition. The maintenance team carefully explained what I would/would not be charged for, and I was actually pleasantly surprised to receive a refund of $161.15 (not because of the state of the place, but because many former residents reported the company seemingly making up charges to justify not paying out their deposits). So I was even more surprised to see that when they later sent a statement of charges, they included that refund amount as a charge (listed on the statement as "Security Deposits - Clearing"). They also included a $365.74 charge for "Utilities" despite my final bill from their utility contractor being $200.05 less than that (and already paid in full). The two unexplained charges together took my move-out charges to $87.67, so that instead of getting my rightfully owed refund, they claimed I now owed them. When I reached out multiple times months ago to ask for an explanation of these charges, I was sent the same documents repeatedly with no clarification, before they just stopped responding altogether. I just received a notice from a collections agency saying they've been contracted by Atlas/Greystar about this outstanding bill and I am livid. Please learn from my mistake, and don't let the shiny lobby and great gym views get you like they did me. Even if you're a model tenant and leave the place in excellent condition, they'll try to squeeze money out of you for no reason and even jeopardize your credit. Do not rent from ANY Greystar property, even those as nice as Atlas. (I'm sure they'll respond to this review in a few months saying they hate to hear I've had a bad experience at their property and to reach out to them via email or phone to resolve the matter quickly, but I've done that and want you reading this to know that that will be false.) read more

Wow. This place is amazing! They are still building some places but the areas they showed, were breath taking . I had the pleasure of meeting Addy (Addison) and he was amazing! He took the time to answer all my questions and even took me to the penthouse . He had to get permission but I am glad we were able to check it out . Addison was so thorough and sweet. He showed is the penhouse and WOW! It was beautiful! Watching the sunset was amazing . He didn't rush us and answered ever question we had. I can not be more satisfied with my experience here. This is a review for the guest and tour experience, which was phenomenal. Joseph is the man -- authentic, kind, patient, passionate, and incredibly gracious with his time and in his approach to what he does. My tour was conducted over FaceTime, and in the 1.5 hours we spent together Joseph never hesitated to show me one more floorplan or amenity, answer another question, or talk through anything and everything. He really just went far above and beyond while exhibiting zero pressure. You can tell he truly cares that if you're looking to live at Atlas, it's because you've fallen in love with the place and are 100% sure it's where you want to be. Seriously, I wasn't even physically on-property, and it was still the most in-depth and positive apartment / community tour experience I've ever had, and establishes a new standard for me. And of course, the property and apartments are beautiful and everything is thoughtfully done. I had my mind set on a unit and my application was approved, but unfortunately for personal reasons outside of the Atlas team's control my dream apartment will now have to wait. I still felt compelled to write this though, because my experience was so positive. Thank you Joseph -- it was a privilege and the Atlas team and community are extremely lucky to have you. Just gets better and better. When I moved out I got a bill which was excessive. They took my entire deposit as well as my pet deposit and then charged me an additional $240. They said they had to fill holes and paint. The holes were all filled professionally and tenants CANNOT Paint as they won't give anyone paint colors to match things to. Then they charge $600+ for utilities which makes NO sense as I never paid on my own or through them that much any month. Additionally the electric and Cable were paid directly by me. So for 10 days before I left in June o was charged $600+. I tried calling and get voice message after voice message with a promise that they will call back. But NOTHING. Now I get a message from a collection agency that they want payment. I asked again for a detailed description of what the charges were and was good o would get an email. Which I still have not received. These people are crooks in my opinion. Read the reviews. I am by no means the only one to have an issue with a move out. Avoid this place like the plague unless you want no security In a dangerous area where people are shot on a routine basis. A garage that is a joke and expensive and not secure most of the time because of broken gates. Horrible place. read more

The amenities, architecture, artwork and concierge really give the luxurious feel that is unmatched in Oakland (yes even better than 17th & Broadway) But what sets this place apart is the level of attention and genuine care each leasing agent provides. Joseph went above and beyond to not only make sure I found the exact apartment home that fit me but basically held my hand through the entire process.
