Some friends brought me here on a recent visit to Pasco. I was delighted by the beer choices. So delighted, in fact, that I ordered the sampler so I could drink them all. Service was cheerful and friendly. The atmosphere is very tavern-like, which is great for having a few drinks and talking with friends. The noise level is perfect for feeling fun while allowing you to hold a conversation. I tried part of a pizza, too--pretty tasty! I liked the pizza a lot: ours was pesto with shrimp, spinach, and sun-dried tomatoes. Yummy! The crust wasn't bad, but I've had better. The soft pretzel was GREAT! Doesn't hurt that it's shaped like an atom. Nicely chewy, flavored with herbs and served with unique dipping sauces, and you can also get it extra spicy with chipotle butter. Beers weren't bad at all. Perhaps not the best you'll ever have, but more flavorful than what's typically found on draft (at least in parts of the south and midwest, where I live). I liked the Plutonium Porter the best, nice depth of flavor...chocolate and coffee...the Amber was good too. If you're in town visiting, I'd definitely recommend it. The flight of 5 is a good bet so you can try several of their offerings. You'll have a chance to mingle with the locals and try something unique to Richland. I dig the nuclear decor and themes too. If you haven't tried atómica potato soup, it's a must!! They have craft beer made in house and it is if the upmost quality. If you like salad they have a delicious ale dressing you won't find anywhere else. 10/10 read more

Closing at 8PM is completely unacceptable. No serious establishment does this. If you're good, you can draw a crowd until 10:30. If you're not, you can't. And if you could but choose to knock off early because you're lazy, you're doomed to fail sooner or later. Open a restaurant when you're serious about it, but if you want to be home by 9, you're not ready for prime time. read more

Recommended by a co-worker, I came for lunch. Great selection of beer and I sampled two. I chose the Hefeweizen to pair with my Einstein's Ego wood fired pizza and they matched well. Great servers and social distancing was excellent. I'll be back. read more

Great atmosphere - homey and comfortable. I'd almost give them 5 stars for the whole "no TVs because we believe in socializing" concept (they even provide board games!). But the beer is bland - different brews all blend together. And the food is just ok. Give them a shot, but it isn't a Brewery destination of itself. read more

On our last night in Richland, we happened upon Atomic Ale Brewpub and Eatery on a recommendation from a local. Reactor Core pizza (Genoa salami, sausage, onions, mushrooms, jalapeños, blue cheese crumbles, and their special spicy nuclear butter) was superb and eating outside was delightful. We were not able to buy a sampler that evening, but the server still allowed us to taste a few types before buying a pint. I drank an "Atomic Amber" and my husband drank the "International Proton Pale Ale." We both enjoyed our drinks. We wish we lived closer to go again! read more

This was my favorite restaurant in Richland for a very long time. Lately the quality has gone down hill like Jack and Jill. The potato soup seems to no longer include a rue for thickening so now it has the consistency of dish water. Also the Sausage Bite appetizer looked, and tasted like it had been prepared three days before I ordered it. My mother and I intended to share that, she stopped after one bite, I hate about five bites. That was at 11:30 am today for lunch and have been vomiting and writhing in pain since. read more

Atomic Ale Brewpub and Eatery was the second brewery that I went to when I arrived for a beer tour of the Tri-Cities. This was in the evening and I was hungry after a long drive and this place was the only one that was open during the later hours of the evening when I lit into town. I have no qualms about the beer really. It was pretty good but not the most memorable brewery out of my journey. I had the Atomic Amber. While scanning the food menu they had a bratwurst sandwich that was cooked with the Amber that I was drinking and it was suggested that it would pair well with the beer itself. I didn't have a better idea so that was what I went with. I actually liked the food just a bit more than the beer. The sandwich was very good and for an extra 99 cents I had sauerkraut put on it which was a nice addition. I had a side salad which was also very refreshing and tasty. While I have no complaints about the place at all I think I preferred the food more over the beer. Not that they are doing anything wrong with it. I'm on the lookout for experimental brews with unusual ingredients or just a really solid tasting beer that doesn't have to be unusual. Atomic's beer didn't quite make that but again, it wasn't bad. I have had ambers that were much more subpar than this one. read more

Beer: good. Nice flavor. Not a giant alcohol bomb. Decent variety. Food: ok. Decent variety. Tasted good. Soup was excellent. Ambiance: come on now. Your sign says, "Family Friendly," yet you don't even have a printed kids menu? Bonus: free board games. Service: overall decent, but that lack of a printed kids menu led two servers to tell us two different things about what we could order. And the second looked at us like we were dumb when we tried to order something the first one said was on the menu (but apparently wasn't?). Overall: I'd go back without kids, but probably not with. I've been here a couple of times in the last few months. Now, Atomic has some great and unique ambiance for the area, and is a nice place to visit or take visitors who what to feel like they're close to "hanford"---there's all kinds of Hanford Site memorabilia displayed throughout the dining area. The food is decent, and above average for pub fare. There pizzas are a good choice, with many to choose from (Positron Pineapple is a personal favorite). As for the beers, I feel like they are bit of a let down. I tried a sampler (a hefe, amber, porter, and a seasonl), and they were "eh". Definitely could be better. All in all, Atomic is a place one should visit atleast once when in the area, but other than that, it's about average overall, but with above average food. read more

First let me say, we will likely return to Atomic Ale many times in the future, but not because it has the best beer and pizza in town. The friendly service is a 5 and the nuclear-themed atmosphere and menu put smiles on our faces. The Food: Mixed We recommend the dessert brownie, it was delicious. The pretzel is cute because it comes out in the shape of an atom, but it is really a breadsticks made from pizza doughty, not pretzel dough - it was okay but unexpected. The pizza received mixed reviews at our table. One was their fancy cheese pizza, and some at the table thought it had too much garlic. I don't believe in too much garlic, there is no such thing - that pizza was tasty enough. We also got a specialty pizza with the atomic butter sauce? That was fun because the spice crept up on you after several bites rather than up front. Overall I would say that their pizzas are tasty enough but not something to rave about. Better than DiGiorno, but not as tasty as BrickHouse. The Beer: OK Living in the Seattle-Portland area, we've become beer snobs accustomed to extra malty, extra hoppy, high-alcohol brews with lots of character (everybody's aging in whisky barrels these days!). For example, my wife asked if they were watered down. I explained that they were regular, not Northwest style. Most of the atomic ales reminded me of my home brewing days - unique flavor, different, & fun, but I didn't have t-shirts made. We felt that the Atomic Amber was one of their best, it reminded us of Newcastle. Many in our group also liked their IPA, though it is a seasonal and may not be around that long. Brickhouse has the better pizza (does it have crack in it?), but they close early, and the atmosphere is less inviting. Kimos may have better brew, but we've never had good service there. Atomic is inviting & friendly and seems to deliver good-enough in most categories. We'll be back. read more

This place was underwhelming. The portion size of my sausage plate was pretty small and the potato soup they are apparently famous for was just.. Wired. It was a good one time experience (the decks of trivia on the tables are a nice touch) but it just didn't live up to the hype sadly... Plus the prices for the portions will just about knock you dead. Stay for the drinks because that's where they seem to shine. And and the service totally sucked. We did go for lunch, however and the place was basically empty except for one big drunk family in the middle (like I don't usually judge but it was like 1pm on a Thursday. :/) Our server pretty much ignored the nice couple who tipped well and drank moderately for the obnoxious partiers. I'm a nuke, so I'm at least mildly biased. I think I'm more in love with their theme than I am with anything else...pretzel shaped like an atom? Hell, yes! Their pizzas are good and they'll accomodate changes (Barcelona without chicken? no problem). In fact, it's the best pizza that I've gotten since moving to the Tricities that I didn't make myself. It's entirely possible that I just don't get out enough, but my all-time favorite pizza is at Emma's in Cambridge, and no one here is even close. Oh #3 how I miss thee... As far as beer, it's not the reason to go. I've had terrible beer here, but I've also had really good beer here. The last really good one was a seasonal, so I haven't seen it again. The theme and design are fun (if you find leaking nuclear-waste sites fun): the beers have names like Plutonium Porter and Half-Life Hefe, and there is an atomic diagram on the glasses, and there are nuclear warning signs on the bathrooms. There also is a nice summary of local history on the front of the menu. The beers, unfortunately, are not very good. It seems like a brewpub from the 1980s -- the beers are mostly conventional styles like IPA, porter, stout, amber; and they are middle-of-the-road in flavor, not doing anything to distinguish themselves or push any boundaries. The best of the lot is the porter, do try one of those if you happen to be in the immediate neighborhood. We were in town for the Tumbleweed Folk Festival, held a few blocks away at a city park, so this was very close by and worth a porter stop. But if you have to time to drive 10 minutes away, go to White Bluffs Brewing instead! read more

I hate for my first review to be a negative one. I'm insanely easy going when it comes to restaurants and service, but we walked into this place and stood by the "Please Wait to be Seated" sign in clear view of every server. The place was bustling and I expected a bit of a wait to get seated even though there were clearly tables clean and available. I was fine with that; I understand busy staff! But after about fifteen minutes of not one person acknowledging our presence, we left. All it would have taken was a nice "Be with you in a moment!" and I would have waited patiently. Richland is a little odd, in case you hadn't noticed. This fun brewpub was obviously a drive in or something once upon a time. It's located in "old town" (if you could call it that) and has some of the charm of the nearby 50-60s era stripmall combined with good microbrews. Read the posters and menus for a little bit of local history. I found the ambiance cozy and was pleased with the service and the food. I would return here. read more

Passing through town starving and in need of a good strong beer after a exhausting week of work we decided to give this place a shot. Looking through their beer menu I noticed not one beer on the list was over 5% ABV. I decided to go with their IPA which was not the perfect malt hop balance and alcohol kick you would hope for but an overly bitter pale ale. However their Kolch and Gose were pretty darn tasty. Service was awesome and our waitress was very friendly. Pizza eh the crust tasted similar to a Red Baron. Prices were a little steep but not unreasonable. read more

This was a hard one to give a star rating to. On one hand, the pizza I had was amazing, but the beer they brew there could use a lot of work. I brew myself, so I may be a bit too critical sometimes. Food: 4. The pizza was well-cooked and had plenty of toppings. It was fantastic. They also offer the ability to have two different halves on the same pie. Brew: 2. The beer lacked depth. They were technically correct based on BCJP classifications, but that is all. It seemed like they just brewed something in that style and left it at that. It tasted like the stuff the big breweries; Budweiser, Miller, Coors, etc; would produce. Service: 4. The bartender I had was fantastic. She was attentive and held a decent conversation with another patron at the bar and myself. Nice little brewpub in downtown Richland. Wood-fired pizza, reasonable variety of pasta and other sandwiches and a good selection of their own beers. I actually had this bratwurst with sauerkraut that was cooked really well, and my "Amber" was exactly what I wanted in a beer. Place wasn't pretentious at all, and while our waiter seemed a little scattered, we got our food in a reasonable time and he didn't fail to bring the check or anything. For decor it's a nice older (? or meant to look old) brick building off the main drag in Richland, it's got a bunch of memorabilia and pictures from Hanford and Richland's history (did you know it was still a goverment owned/run town until the mid 1950s?) Of course I'm not sure you can call mementos of a time when we thought radiation-sickness was just a healthy glow and an off-the-charts Geiger counter was hilarious "cute" - but I digress. The only downside is this place felt a little cramped to me, even though it wasn't totally full. I'm sure they're just trying to get the maximum number of seats, but it was a little annoying to be crammed into the back corner so tightly with just a party of 5. Definitely a place I'd go back to next time I visit my friends in town. read more

And the award for the most improved restaurant in Richland goes to..... No joke. It had been some time since my last visit to Atomic Ale, but I was very pleasantly surprised with the changes. You will not notice the change in de core or parking, but in service and quality of beer and food. To start with, I was greeted at the door by a friendly person (this is a BIG change). I believe his name was Aaron. Did not roll his eyes and look annoyed by the three kiddos we brought. Then offered to bring us tasters of their newest ale, Reactor Core Red. Now in the past Atomic has not been known for their beer, but this was an excellent craft beer. Great flavor, caramel hints, and a nice sweet hop finish. So for dinner, by recommendation of our wait staff (Aaron), we ordered the pizza by a similar name Reactor Core. Jalapeños, meat, and other veggies. So good, took two beers to wash down the heat! Keep up the good work and maintain that excellent level of service I now expect from Atomic Ale Brewpub. read more

Great place for food and brews; and only mildly radioactive. We had the chicken satay for an app; a change from normal pub fare. But they have traditional pub apps as well; and great pizza. And a great mix of ages from babies to retirees. And lest we forget; great beer! Try the Mighty Columbia Imperial IPA. read more

Get: Potato Soup (in the largest receptacle possible) Atomic Ale is a neat venture for those exploring the nooks of Richland or showing visitors about town. Well-branded with intriguing atomic-era themes, I am 300% behind the stylistic intentions of this brewpub. However, there is only one shining star on the menu. And damnably, it is so good, I would consider two-leg tackling a senior citizen to get my hands on it. We're talking the Potato Soup. It is an absolute treat. If you think you should leave this establishment without an order there and one to go, you've mistreated yourself. As for the rest of the menu, I've had spotty luck. The pizza is fair but the sauce and crust aren't titillating and thusly are expunged from my memory banks the moment I fill out the tip & total line on the check. Conversely, their topping concepts are admirable but can't seem to save the final product. The beer could use some help. Love the names and themes (consistent with all aspects of the venue) and I am not beyond spending a few clams on a pint glass . . . but really I don't want to drink it. The malt end of the brews are heavy and don't really inspire me. Further, being a fan of those little green danglies - I wish they provided something a bit more hop-forward. I've been here about 4 times during my year here in Tri Cities. It's a place I always feel comfortable heading in by myself. The food is always good. I've had a couple of the pizzas. Nice thin crispy crust and quality toppings. I really like the cordon bleu pizza. They have a signature red potato soup. Excellent! There is some cream involved in making this soup for sure. I am afraid I can't really rate the beers. I usually have a glass of wine. They are somehow affiliated with the itallian place across the street nearby and they serve the house wines from there. That's what I've chosen on several visits and have been happy with it. The servers are all really nice. It's a pub, the atmosphere is relaxed (It's an old A&W I think).. No one skates out to your car to put a cold one on a tray at your window anymore but it's funky and cool. A great after-work unwind place. read more

Today was my first time in the Tri-Cities, and this is the first place I went. Service was OK, once the waitress stopped talking to her friends and realized I was there. The beer is OK. I live in a State where premium breweries are omnipresent (Bell's, Founders, Arcadia, Shorts, Arbor Brewing, Original Gravity, etc.), so I'm definitely a beer snob. The pizza was pretty good. I went here strictly for the beer. I'm from Portland and know a thing or two about brewpubs. 1st things first, the service was horrible. I asked for the sampler and I was missing 2 beers. 1 being the Porter the other being their Hef. All of the beers were warm, I asked if this is by design. He said no... NOTE: One of the beers in the sampler was FAT TIRE... Oh... half the patrons in the eatery were drinking bottled beers, that should of given me a hint. The good It is a neat place with a nice environment. Wait staff is always courteous and friendly. potato soup is good. I do not crave it fortnightly, but it is worth ordering. Menu is vegetarian friendly The mediocre The pizza is, in my book, mediocre, but still one of the better menu items. The sandwiches are ok. A nice potato salad or pasta salad would help. The Menu is the same as it always has been. Really the menu is a lunch menu, not really a dinner menu. there is a daily pasta special, but nothing very substantial. The bad The beer... The beer is cold crashed before it has completed fermentation, which is why all of their beer has diacetyl (a fake butter or butterscotch flavor)... It's a process passed down from the old brewer to the new brewer and it makes the beer undrinkable. The guest taps aren't very good either. Overall: The food is passable, nothing very special, but at least it isn't frozen Sysco heated and plated. If only they had good beer without significant flaws (It is a brewpub after all) then the food wouldn't have to be fantastic. read more
