Our toilet at my workplace was backing up and overflowing. Atomic Rooter sent to a plumber, he snaked out the sewer line in the basement through one of those clean out valves, When he came to get paid I checked on the work, Then upon inspection sewage water waste was still leaking from the clean out valve! The whole basement was under an inch of sewage. My store and my neighbor's store have been condemned by the health department. Atomic Rooter will be facing a lawsuit from myself and my neighbors. The had thousands of dollars in Merchandise rendered worthless due to the contamination, caused by the sheer negligence of said plumber. ( Before I forget the toilets are still unusable!) If you need any further proof of a company acting in a dishonest manner or their deceptive efforts to try and have a legitimate complaint removed, here you go. Original review: The ownership of this company is despicable. Instead of owning up to the fact that they failed to show up for an appointment back in 2014 (in White Plains, NY), they gave us a year long song and dance routine about how we had the wrong company, how it wasn't them, and how we somehow made a mistake. Nope. It was Atomic Rooter and they simply failed to show up. Now, after months of silence, these dopes are again trying to make it seem like we have the wrong company because my location is currently PA. Unfortunately, I now have to, once again, expose them for being the lying liars they really are. To set the record straight: the appointment they failed to show up for was in White Plains, NY in 2014. We've moved to PA at the end of 2015. Tells me to clean up area, meanwhile daught wanders downstairs because he can't close a door. Yells at me for the fact she's going down the stairs. Gives me a quote of 525. Fixes pipe. Daughter screaming now. Me asking him what's going on so I can soothe her. No information. "I'm fixing it" he says. Meanwhile I'm telling him this problem started in bathroom but he laughs at me and says water doesn't go up. Uh yeah I'm aware dude. They still refuse to look upstairs. Charge me 675. Replace both pipes. I try calling to find out exactly what they did and why the price is different and the guarantee is crossed out. Office says I can't speak to him until Monday. Sneakily find the cell phone number he called my dad from. He hangs up on me. My dad calls, he yells at him telling him none of the above happened?!? (He wasn't even there). I finally call a friend who's husband is a commercial plumber because I'm so upset my upstairs is not fixed. He walks in. Tells me the pipes they used cost $20 and I got incredibly ripped off and that it would never take two guys to fix that problem. Take me as a fool and then treat me like scum. I might have been able to handle one but not both. I'm annoyed. Pete, the commercial plumber fixes my upstairs bathroom in literally 15 minutes, doesn't charge me. Well...let me tell you. We didn't expect to have any plumbing problems...how naive we are! A week or so ago, the toilet/washing machine/shower in basement all started to flood. What is one to do? Oy!! The first thing was to run out and buy a shop vac, to vacuum up the water. Second was to call Atomic Rooter! Russell and Larry came out between 8-9:30 and got to work. The issue was the sewer pipe had roots (damn trees, I was ready to rip out our neighbor's tree...come to find out, it was a bush/tree, whatever it was on our property that was previously there). They cleared what they could and told us that we would need a new pipe. Another Oy!! $$$ started ringing through our heads and I was not happy. Anyhow, the owner, Steve came by and met with hubby and me and talked Tom Turkey. He very explicitly explained what the issue was and put us at ease. All permits would be taken care of by them and they would get started within a week. The price was reasonable, compared to what it could have cost. They were able to start on Tuesday, with the excavator and lay the pipe (Ha), Wednesday, they came back to fill in the hole(dirty mind, the hole of where the pipe was). They did such a phenomenal job and left us resting easily. I would not hesitate to use them again, well, since we have, essentially a new sewer pipe, we may never need them! They came right away and dealt with a filthy job of replacing the main septic line, pumping out both tank and pump chamber, and diagnosing that the entire problem was caused by the pump not working (electrical fault, which was just fixed). Worst service possible. We had some frozen pipe(s). Guy showed up for 10 minutes, said keep doing what you're doing, tried to scare us with some burst pipe talk and then charged $300 after doing nothing. Just saying a few sentences. I called back to complain as I wasn't at home, my wife was. The guy had a tough time justifying what he did and showed no empathy to the situation. So here's my story and I'm sticking to it. I phoned another plumber who had no availability over the weekend. That company referred me to Atomic Rooter. I trusted but should have looked at reviews first. My call was returned promptly and Romell came out to my home. He introduced himself as a technician. The red flag went up !!!-as I phoned for a licensed plumber. Truth is I don't know what credentials Romell has. He was very nice but that is irrelevant as I had a plumbing problem that needed resolution. My upstairs bathtub was dumping water into my downstairs kitchen when the shower/ bath was in use. Romell ran the shower and determined water was getting through a few loose tiles. I knew that the volume of water was too great to have been caused from water seeping through a few tiles. Romell never filled the tub. Had he done that he would have known that the problem was not the tiles but with the drain. I highly doubt a seasoned plumber would have neglected to perform this test. Never the less I was charged 235 plus tax for an improper diagnosis. Romell did nothing for me. In fact he advised me to tape the area off with plastic and call a tile guy. I ended up phoning him back as I knew this was not the cause. He told me he could go into the ceiling with his camera to look around. I didn't really trust his judgement so I phoned another plumber who came out and cut a small hole in my ceiling directly under the drain. He hadn't even seen the upstairs layout. He found the leak in 2 minutes. Cut a few PVC pipes- linked them together and my problem was solved. I later phoned Romell to inform him that the job had been done and that his diagnosis had been incorrect. He misread my text and informed me that the hole would need to be cut much bigger and to have the guy get him a material list. What????... he later phoned me to tell me he misunderstood my text. I'm very glad that j trusted my gut and didn't allow him to cut a hole in my ceiling. Initially he told me the amount I paid would be deducted from any work he did. Later he told me it would only cover him cutting the hole in my ceiling and any additional work would be more. Keep in mind I had already paid him $249.99 to do absolutely nothing. I have no doubts that I would have been charged an astronomical amount of money to repair a very simple leak. I would stay away from this company. Nothing about my experience was good. After reading other reviews I'm thankful I was only taken for a small amount of money in comparison to others here. read more

2 men showed up without masks-they put them on after I requested. I do infectious disease so this made me very unhappy. Strangers shouod not walk unmasked in a house to do work. They were very quick to come. Then they asked me why the housekeeper was cleaning the bathroom when I knew they were going to show up. I told them it was a 4 hour window-no crystal ball as to when exactly they were to show up. One drain easily was unplugged-the other was worked on and on but the plumber seem to become frustrated and said the wall would have to be opened up. I said not to do that. That was the main draining problem-heaven knows what face concoctions my daughter puts done that drain. Now it was not slow but completely stopped up so worse than when they showed up. The plumber did not reconnect the sink properly back so water was on the floor. They did not bring in a drop cloth or anything to protect the floor. They could not fix the one drain but charged the $300 for the other one. These are not the days of service-I get that. Thankfully my genius handyman stoppd by a bit later later and fixed the drain in 15 minutes, reconnected the drain , etc.. He told me what they did not do. He charged $100-bargain. It reminded me of an operation I once saw as a student where the surgeon became lost in the gut and did not reconnect the intestine properly. He got more and more frustrated. It did not end well. Strange vibe-made me uncomfortable. Maybe it was the ZZtop look. Called the owner who was like-What's the problem? They put on the mask when you asked and only charged for one drain and that's cheap. We had a very positive experience with Atomic Rooter. Our toilet was overflowing no matter how much we plunged. We called Atomic Rooter, who responded within minutes. The owner knew right away what the problem was. It seems our system was blocked and needed to be snaked. We were given a time when a plumber could be at the house, and he showed up right on time. We were immediately given an estimate, and the plumber worked quickly and efficiently. When finished, he cleaned the area and left it cleaner than when he arrived. I found him knowledgeable, competent and an all-around nice guy. When he was done, we got a call from Steve, the owner, who gave an estimate on another, related repair. When I told him we would defer that repair (which was not an "up-sell", but is actually needed), Steve was extremely polite, and recommended a stop-gap, which the plumber did for us. This is one of the greatest rackets I've ever experienced in my life. I had an issue with my washing machine whereby it filled up with water and I called Atomic Rooter to send a technician out to have a look. The actual service technician that was sent out to the apartment in norwalk was a gentleman and a pleasant man. I was originally quoted at 285- with a potential to increase to 435 if the repair was more extensive (originating from more tedious parts of the home/building) associated with plumbing. Given the seemingly steep estimates i specifically asked if these estimates were predicated on the time of day I was requesting service (same day) or if this was a static estimate based not on the urgency whatsoever but rather the labor involved. I was assured this was static and there was no escalation basis time of day. The technician determined after putting the washing machine on several different cycles that there was no issue and could not really determine the source of the original issue but told me that he sees no issue and the water drained normally. We flushed the toilets three times and the technician went to call the man i originally spoke with over the phone after i asked him for an updated estimate given none of the intended work was done. This man tried to charge me 185 dollars because of the time of day and the nature of the call being an EMERGENCY call. This is a complete racket and after trying to plead my case to the man he just would not reason with me. I believe a charge is justified for having someone come out but virtually 200 dollars? Complete thievery. I've never written a yelp review in my life but this prompted me to do so because it was so abundantly clear I was being taken advantage of. I will promptly communicate this information to all of my friends and relatives in the area that no matter the circumstance do not contribute the luxury of business to such a scam conducted in this lowly manner. When our hot water heater started to go, I knew it was only a matter of days before it flooded out. I've heard those nightmare stories. So my wife and I did a lot of research, burned up the internet and called a lot of the big stores like Lowe's, Home Depot, Sears as well as some local contractors. Everybody wanted to charge an arm and a leg for installation and in the big stores you don't get many quality heaters to choose from. Nothing seemed to fit our budget or timeframe. Somehow, my wife found Atomic Rooter in Norwalk and we said why not, we've tried everywhere in Westchester why not try Connecticut. Steve answered our call and told us he can get exactly what we needed and have it installed by the afternoon. We couldn't believe our luck. He gave us a very reasonable quote, he was able to get an even better water heater than they offer in the big box stores and do it immediately! Who's better than Steve! The two gentlemen who came over to do the install were great. They were seasoned veterans who know what they were doing and couldn't have been nicer. The pump that I originally purchased was from Home Depot. When I started having problems with the pump about 6 months later I contacted Atomic Rooter in Norwalk Ct and had them come out. The informed that the line was blocked and charged me approximately $750 to clear the line. A few days later the problem came back and that is when Steve informed me that the pump that I purchased from Home Depot was no good. I purchased a pump from Steve installed $1,153.00. It's worth mentioning Atomic Rooter stole the 6 month old pump which was still under warranty. When I asked about it I was told it was disposed of. This is the mentality of the people at Atomic Rooter. I started having the same problems last week, my boyfriend George called Steve and had his company come back out. Steve charged me $185.00 for a service call and told us to take the pump to Palmers Electric Motors and Pumps in Norwalk CT. My boyfriend took the pump to Norwalk where it tested fine, unfortunately when it was re-installed still did not work. The technician from Palmers came out and investigated to find that the pump does not work when it is submerged. He said the pumps needs to be replaced and we should go back Atomic Rooter and have them replace it and they will be credit by Little Giant. I spoke with Steve last night and he informed me that if Palmers cannot repair the pump that I need to go back to Little giant and see what they can do for me. I spoke with Craig from Palmers from Palmers this morning and he informed me that Steve has to switch out the pump and get a credit from you all. I am spending upwards of $2,000 for something that cost a few hundred dollars. I am not sure why Steve is telling me to go back to you, I have been running in circles for two days! Steve's main concern is making money and he obviously does not give a damn about customer satisfaction. He is still coming up with more ways to get money out of me. I can see from the Yelp reviews this is business as usual for them, he is a pariah. Can someone please help me. I do not know what to do. I need to make sure that this pump is appropriate for a one bedroom unit. I only have one tenant that lives there. Is there anyway I can go around Steve to get this pump replaced? Returned phone call was pronto from AtomicRooter - my mom has a faucet with no water pressure in it. Tried to fix a couple of times on my own (unclog the spout?) to no avail. They were over the next day...said we need a new faucet. They were back 3 days later with the part, everything is awesome. Staff very polite and worked great with her schedule. Owner called back to ask if things were ok....I'm happy and will definitely work with them again. We had a bad clog on the sewer line and we called anther big named plumber. They came twice and couldn't find out the issue. And we spent thousands of dollars but the issue was not fixed. Sewer backed out 3-4 times into our first floor's bathroom. I called Steve and he came on the second day's morning. They used snake and the commercial jet. And from the snake video the found out the spot of the clogging area. After digging, it is exactly where the issue is. It turns out our sewer line didn't hooked to the city server line. There is a foot gap between. Our problem finally solved. I would highly recommend the company to other people. read more

They over charged and did half the work. Don't trust them. I had 2 jobs to do on the first visit; fix a leaky facet and a constantly running toilet. Neither got done but I was charged. I was a fool and had them out a second time to fix the toilet and disposal. They fixed the disposal by pulling out some foreign object. The toilet was not fixed. They pretended to replace the guts of the toilet but didn't. In doing the "repair" they broke one of the plastic parts but I was charged for the 2 jobs. Never again! read more

This is an excellent service. We have used them on several occasions for plumbing blockages in our home. They are extremely prompt in getting back to you when you call them. Every time we have called them, they have sent someone out the same day. Prices are a little on the high side, but we have been satisfied with the work they do. Their staff are very polite, and they take care to be neat around the house. When you have a major plumbing problem, the important thing is getting someone out to the house fast, and having the problem resolved when they leave. We called in an emergency when we discovered our sump pump in the basement had stopped working and we had an inch of water covering the floor. We were told that it would take up to an hour but Steve arrived about 10 minutes after we called. He replaced our sump pump and the water immediately started draining away.
