Each of us has different perceptions and I respect the opinion of the previous writer, however I…read morecould not disagree more. Those comments above are not at all reflective of my experience with Greenwich Farms, and in particular with Ashley and Meagan. This is a long review so suffice it to say that my parents and parents in law would not have spent 100's of thousands of dollars at Greenwich Farms if we had the same impression as that review. Because my parents, prior to their passing, and my parents in law (one has passed) were residents of Greenwich Farms for the last 15 years, all having spent time in the memory care unit, I feel uniquely qualified to provide an assessment based on long experience visiting them and observing the staff. My mother for a short time was in a different living facility, not because of dissatisfaction with GF but because of family turmoil. We took her back to GF because of dissatisfaction with the other facility that was more in line with the prior review. It takes a special person to work at assisted living facilities, particularly in the memory care unit. There is no typical day and there is no typical resident. There is no day that something new and unexpected doesn't happen and the staff work very hard to provide a stable and loving environment for all residents. Sometimes employees can't handle the stress that is inherent in this job or just don't have the personality or temperament to work in a memory care unit and decide to move on. That is true of all facilities that are in the business of caring for people. I believe this has much to do with turnover, although I do not believe GF has an exceedingly high turnover rate. Also, I have seen people ill suited for the job even after having been given special training and guidance who were just not a good fit and were invited to find opportunities elsewhere. Managers have the responsibility to make those changes not only for the safety and well being of the residents but also to maintain the morale of the employees that do yeoman's work on a daily basis. To suggest that Ashley, as the Harbor Director, is responsible for turnover is a short sighted, scratch the surface impression. Additionally, she is well qualified to be the director of the unit. She has worked in memory care units in different facilities for years starting as a CNA and working her way up to management prior to returning to GF as the director of the Harbor. She has an almost innate ability to sense the mood and temperament of each person and is able to respond to each in a manner that that makes them almost immediately comfortable. She knows whether they need a smile, a joke or a hug. Because most residents don't fully comprehend the reason they are there it may take a few months to become comfortable. I am confident that GF continues to provide the support my father-in-law needs and thrilled that Ashley is the director. I recently joked with the Executive Director and Ashley that they have done such a good job caring for him that he has improved enough to move back to the traditional side.

Ambulatory care send me here for hospital stay my baths was in the mornings. the staffs are kind…read morethe OTC seems to have better cares then CNA and nurses I was taking Care of from them OTC instead. For my first appointment with a lady was nice she left my jonnies on me i was warmed and comfortable she had a wheel chair ready for me to. As for the one that does therapy its really the top of the hemi walker that u suppose to use. All I got from the other staff was discharge notice and to do it your self ,and to where clothes instead of Johnnies, and my shower was suppose to be on Wednesdays this other nurse way was like. I told her I was taking care of this morning from a CNA and i am ready to go then she starts talking about where's my clothes i need clothes she came in with some clothes that she got from downstairs and put them on me in a rush. I was not comfortable at all. The same nurse, she took me to my follow up appointment with clothes on instead of johnnie's because I'm a long timer, so I had to inform her that I'm a short timer when I gotten back she didn't put my Johnnie back on which was a struggle because I was sick from my injury so I had to put them on myself, because she never returned to me. I was left in my wheel chair i had to elevate my leg also. and had to keep them informed of my next dosage because they said they can't remember me. 1. Need a non dietary cart and in the food cooking to For Short timers 2 need to keep short timer away from long timer. My bed was not comfortable jus to small I had to use my wheel chair to elevate my sick leg. my first with long timer very chatty talking and going in and out of the room letting me know the room is really for her. Then couldn't leave my curtain alone had keep pulling it back making her way across my way talking about I need some sun. Then ive gotten moved that same day to shorttimer stay with large size bed much better for my sick leg. Second patient long timer was quiet left my curtain alone her and her company stayed on her side of the room all the patient would say is hi and i said hi back to her when she's leaving the room. rest time for me. a couple of days after they moved her elsewhere and brought third patient in with her company she was loud the CNA and nurse came in and started tampering with the curtain she was making room for herself to commune with the patient an her company. The last two days after therapy was done things was bazzaarsh. Other nurse and cna had that patient on my side of the room with her company jus chatting away and curtain fully pulled back across this time ever since that has happened I've caught something allergy, cold system like, they couldn't cure it i just kept coughing and sneezing. for the two last days of my stay My bed was changed to a different size again the bed wasn't made everthing was off i had to spread a comforter over the bed till she came. I had to keep getting up from my bed to pull my curtain across so they don't see me. I was uncomfortable its like my hospital stay was cut short no body came to see me nor bath me CNA was jus coming in preparing my bath and giving me my meals but never returned to bath me just kept coming in asking me if i needed some help or pull the red button when im fininsh bathing. So i told her aren't u suppose bath me. I really wish they should of told that patient company not to come by my way guess that was my notice. My last day was they jus handed me breakfast and gave me a large bag with just home care papers they took my wheel chair away and who ever was picking me up had to find one for me i was using an hemy walker till he found me one. I called them sometimes they would answer and other times they be like," I'm really aren't your cna or nurse". 4 need some kind of device for short timer to use like a computer or tablet.

The ENTIRE staff was EXTREMLEY friendly and caring! They ALL went out of their way to make us feel welcome and at ease. The maintenance staff, cna's, therapists, nurses, and ALL of upper managment were SO nice to the patient and the visitor! The facility is VERY clean and VERY well-run! Thank you to Maria and Tracey especially for going out of their way in making us feel welcome! The entire staff was great!!

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES allow your loved one to come here! This Genesis facility is poorly run and…read moreincredibly understaffed. Rooms meant for one person have two people crammed into them. Four people shared a tiny bathroom with a door that was extremely hard to open or close. Not bathed for NINE days (and got a rash), clothing was not changed daily, urine soaked clothing was left on bed to soak through her bedspread, walker was repeatedly left out of reach and she could not stand without it, food was subpar, no PT or OT consults as needed, patients left moaning and soiled in the hallway. Lunch aids left her in unsafe position sitting on the side of the bed because "that's how we do it." Upon entering the facility, you are met with stench from soiled laundry left in the entrance hallway and a surly young male clerk at the entrance who snarled at me when I told him they were out of hand sanitizer. Some staff were helpful, kind, and competent and clearly doing their best under daunting circumstances. Some websites list them as having a five star rating which is completely insane and inaccurate!! I've visited 10 nursing homes my life and this is the worst one! We got her out of this nightmare after 2 weeks. I've heard that Genesis has sold their nursing homes in the last year or so and that they are ALL terribly understaffed and underperforming. RUN from any of their facilities! Check out St. Clare's in Newport or Forest Farm in Middletown for skilled nursing care that accepts Medicaid, and Franklin Court for assisted Living in Bristol.
