We finally found an assisted living place for our Mom. The admissions person was wonderful and…read moreexplained the levels of care and gave us a tour of several rooms. The great thing is if Mom needs more or less care, she does not have to move! The staff just conforms to her needs, so her room is her room. She has resided at Smithfield Woods for over a year, and we are very happy with the care she is receiving. The place is more than clean- it looks like a hotel or condo and has modern rooms with spacious bathrooms/walk in showers, kitchenettes, A/C, beautiful windows/views, several dining rooms and common areas/reading areas, activities daily, and a full dining room for 3 meals a day. For an extra fee, they have a med tech who will give our Mom her meds (she has too many to keep track of herself). They always have one or more RN's on staff, a maintenance person if you need help putting up a picture, and activity staff who check on the residents frequently during the day to encourage socialization. They have cleaning service who keep our Mom's room neat and clutter-free since she uses a walker/wheelchair. The office is always open during the day if you have a question. Now I am particular about floors/smells, and being a nurse myself, I appreciate the cleanliness and fresh-smelling air of the hallway and common areas. The aides are so friendly and let me say- we all know how understaffed this whole state is when it comes to nursing facilities! The aides go above and beyond for their residents here. Our Mom is safe here and that is the most important! I tell many friends and family about Smithfield Woods for their elderly loved ones. Hopefully many more people will go take a tour and see how nice it is here!

Victoria Court is blessed to have her as the "face" for Victoria Court. Since she is the first person one usually sees when they enter your lovely facility or speak to on the telephone, she has a great responsibility to portray Victoria Court in the best light. She does an extremely exemplary job in her role. From my first introduction to her, I was impressed by her demeanor, which was so kind, genuine, and patient. I immediately felt reassured that our mother was in good hands. I am beyond touched by her ability to embrace and welcome everyone who approaches her, including the residents, as well as, visitors and staff. She is truly a beautiful and pure soul! I hope and pray that Anna will always be a constant at Victoria Court. I also want to commend the entire staff for the excellent care our mother receives each and every day. They are a dedicated group who go above and beyond to guarantee our mother's care is exceptional. Thank you to each and every one of you! The warm feeling you get when you walk through the front doors makes you feel at home. Victoria Court doesn't have a locked unit or a hallway of memory care seperated from the assisted living side. The whole building is memory care and they have that freedom in thier home. They are a family operated facility and staff and administrators and nurses are also very knowledgeable and helpful with any issues you may have. It is the cleanest facility I have been to. Meals are excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to have a parent come and take a tour. They take several forms of payment including Social Security. They have med technicians that distribute your medications so you don't need to remember to take them. There have 24 rooms with 2 to a room usually. I am happy that they found me in a rehab facility after an extended hospital stay and they interviewed me and took me in.

It's clean, the staff is caring and the food is decent. I would put my mom here if she was still alive. The only drawback is it's not on a bus route but we have our own 14 passenger bus and we go out often to shop and have other trips. Logisticare is on site and they provide free transportation to doctor's appointments. It's a nice place to live.

I visited several Independent Living homes and the Village was by far the best. It's set on top of a hill overlooking Waterman lake which is breathtaking from spring through fall. The facility is immaculate and the staff goes out of their way to make sure the residents have the resources they need. One of the first things I noticed when my parents moved in was how friendly and welcoming the other residents are. You can tell people enjoy being there, and my parents did too for their short time there. Their health deteriorated faster than any of us expected and they both needed to be moved quickly into the nursing home. If you meet Moriah, the general manager, (or house mom as my parents called her), she is always dressed to the nines with flawless make-up and four inch heels. When my dad needed to be moved to the nursing home, I noticed she had swapped out her skirt and heels for jeans and sneakers. She and two of the facility nurses pushed my dad down to the nursing home in a rolling recliner to make sure he could be moved comfortably and safely. She did the same for my mom when it was her turn. Moriah set-up the move in days and pushed my mom's wheelchair, this time in her heels, to her new room. If my parents had still been in North Carolina when their health crashed, or in a less accommodating facility, I don't know what I would have done. Every staff member in that place from the top to the bottom did what they needed to do to take care of my parents, and that is an invaluable service when you are dealing with aging loved ones.

Staff is incredibly rude and never smile. More often than not I brought my client home with a…read moresoiled diaper even though by law they have to change him before he leaves for the day. The staff is excessively non friendly and uncommunicative and doesn't even give you the time of day as the caretaker. I overheard them giving my client care in the bathroom and he was screaming at the top of his lungs in pain. That is NOT common at home when we care for him. They make me feel incredibly irrrelevant and like a nuisance every time I just come to drop my client off. If they are this unfriendly and uncaring about their jobs in front of the caretakers I can only assume how they act when no one's watching.

My mother in law had gone to the Warwick Cornerstone Adult Day Care for the last 3 years…read more Unfortunately last week she went into a nursing home and will no longer be back to her home away from home as we called it. I can not even begin to express how amazed my husband and I had been over the care she received there in the last 3 years. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 5-7 years ago, her mental health progressively declined in recent years. At which point she couldn't be left alone and this was going to be a huge issue since we work during the day. Cornerstone had been a godsend to us. The Director Kim advised us this was the place she needed to be. We were petrified back then that this transition was not going to be a smooth one. If you knew my mother in law she did not see herself needing to go to a senior center where all the "old" people were, (she was 83 at this time). The first time we took her she was not happy, and she made that clear when she told us she hated us 20 times. However the highly trained staff assured us she would be fine. Three years later she became the little social butterfly and quite the joiner. We can not thank the entire staff for their attentiveness, knowledge , and the over all stellar service they provide. They truly care about the men and woman that go there. I highly recommend this facility if you are looking for an adult day care for your loved one.
