Through experience I have come to believe that staff turnover is highly correlated to quality and consistency of care. As I searched I was looking for an intimate and clean setting with low staff turnover as an indicator that the staff were happy in their job and therefore capable of providing consistent high quality care. Many, if not most at Parkland have been there 5-6 years. It was no contest. Parkland is a great facility, built specifically for memory care patients. What truly impresses, though, is the caring, attentive nature of the staff...and I mean everyone from the executive director to the caregivers!! They actively engage the residents and are kind, attentive and respectful. I am so happy I made the choice to take her to Parkland. She recently passed but loved her time there, especially loved the staff and the residents. If you have choice, you need to look at Parkland first. Incredible!

He never once followed through on anything, and he accused me of being the problem. He accused me of stealing the wheelchair that I bought on their demand, and claimed he had video evidence. I'm sure he did see me take the wheelchair out with my mother, but that's not evidence that I stole the chair. They did return the money after I called them out 2 weeks after they stole our money. I'm still going to have to go to small claims court for the services that they documented that they didn't do. If you love the person you are caring for, then DON'T GO HERE!

They allow residence who have aggression going to other rooms and abuse other clients all they do is redirect them know about it or letting other family know what's going on with their loved one sad part is that if you are looking for a great facility and you're looking into this one, your families gonna be paying more because they accept the money from clients who already paying having them donate more money for a Christmas fun for the employees which is crazy because this company makes a lot of money. We were set up to move my Mom into Pennington Gardens this Monday, but was suddenly informed last…read morenight that my Mom can no longer move into the facility, ever, based on incomplete data from their nurse. Over the past month we have searched for a facility to take care of my Mom due to a continued decline in memory and reached out to their director Susan and was able to secure a room in their "memory care" wing of the facility. During the process, their nurse met with my Mom and had contacted her PCP for information and up until yesterday they became concerned that my Mom was on a antibiotic for a medical condition that she no longer has (tested negative early April). When I asked what my Mom's PCP told them I was informed they had left a message an they did not respond. In literal a few hours we went from moving in on April 6 to "sorry, we can never take your Mom, but can help you find a place". Please note that we have already given the notice at my Mom''s current facility. The worse part is that I never spoke with the nurse. All of my Mom's health concerns and denial came their director on site contacting me. The question becomes: do you want your loved one in a place where their director and nurse can make decisions like this in a vacuum and apply them to your already stressful situation.

She took a video of the apartment for me so I could show my mom before she moved. Kim at the front desk was so helpful with everything I needed and the Director of Assisted Living, Keri Giles was always available to address anything I had concerns over with my mom. Everything changed in November of 2025 when the new Director, Alexondra came on board. I decided to relocate my mom after the holidays and gave the 30 day required notice December 31 to be moved out by January 31. I receive a call from the Director on January 5 that I need to move my mom into their memory care immediately. WHAT? I inform her my mom is moving out January 21 literally in 2 weeks. She told me it didn't matter I must move her into memory care or get 24-7 care for her. She's in assisted living! Needless to say I was able to move her to another assisted living facility where she is receiving true assisted living. Be very careful if you choose this facility. After moving out I personally cleaned the apartment and it was filthy even though housekeeping cleaned once a week. I then received a bill for carpet replacement. I was speechless. The building is attractive, the fireplaces and cozy seating areas are inviting, and the residents themselves are friendly and neighborly. Most of the care staff were pleasant, and the front desk team was consistently welcoming. Unfortunately, nearly everything beyond the lobby failed to meet even basic expectations. Communication and transparency were persistent problems. Caregivers often did not seem to have clear instructions, and changes in care levels were not communicated or discussed appropriately. Housekeeping was unreliable and inconsistent. Weekly cleanings were frequently missed -- sometimes for three consecutive weeks -- with no adjustment to the monthly fee, despite housekeeping being included in the monthly rent. When staff did come, the work was inconsistent: vacuuming was skipped, trash was left unemptied, and overall attention to detail was poor. These ongoing issues, in our opinion, ultimately resulted in an additional move-out charge for carpet replacement that the facility claimed "could not be cleaned," despite the inconsistent housekeeping throughout the stay. Billing required constant vigilance. Several times, incorrect charges appeared on the bill and had to be disputed. After moving my mom out, charges were applied for items that should reasonably fall under standard wear and tear, and apartment preparation for the next resident. Dining was another weak point. The food was of poor quality and offered a limited selection, falling short of what families expect from a community at this price point. During my mom's time here, there were changes in management and administration, but these shifts did not improve communication, consistency, or accountability. Based on our experience, we strongly recommend avoiding a Spectrum owned community. While the building may look warm and welcoming, the operational issues, lack of transparency, inconsistent care, and questionable billing practices overshadow everything else. Families should be prepared to scrutinize every bill and follow up repeatedly -- or, better yet, look elsewhere.

BED BUGS!! BED BUGS!! I removed my mother from this facility…read moreafter 9 days because I discovered bed bugs in her room. Here is my story. * upon admission to this facility, my mother was placed in a room for a five day "covid quarantine". She tested negative, has been fully vaccinated and boosted. This room was the first of two rooms, and I saw no evidence of bed bugs in this one. I did, however, quickly discover as I was unpacking her things, and attempting to get her settled ,that they hadn't bothered to clean this room. As I placed her toiletries in the bathroom , I noticed dried urine stains all over the toilet and floor. In retrospect, I should have packed up, and escaped with my mom immediately. But, it was a very difficult decision to place her in memory care , and she was already happily eating the lunch they provided. So I requested the bathroom be cleaned. An exhausted looking housekeeper arrived, and said she would "bleach" the bathroom. As she was "bleaching" the bathroom, I pulled the comforter off of the bed so I could place my mothers comforter in it's place. I then discovered half of a large bug. I hope it was a cricket, but it sure resembled a roach. Again I wanted to bolt, but I'm trying to stay calm. So I request that the sheets be changed. The housekeeper asked if she could just change the "top" sheet and said the bottom one looked "fine". I said I would like all the sheets changed. I even said I would change them myself if she would give me the sheets. She was elderly and looked very tired. * On day eight my mom was moved to a private room. They moved her to this room without me seeing the room, and once I saw the room, I strongly suspected they knew I would refuse the room, if given the chance to see it first. The room was dark. Window was filthy and covered with bird droppings. Carpet had a strong odor of layers and layers of dried urine. No cold water in bathroom sink. Motion sensor not working. I requested these items be fixed ASAP. She was in there two nights, and then I discovered the bed bugs in her bed. I had never seen one before this, but a quick google search confirmed my suspicions. As revolting as this discovery was, the way I was treated by staff was absolutely unacceptable. Rude, condescending, nonchalant , and had no apparent concern that an 89 year old dementia patient was getting eaten alive by bed bugs. I was told by the person "in charge" named "Kim" that my "option" was to LEAVE my mother in the bed bug room over the weekend , and she would "try" to get an exterminator by Monday. I told her she was out of her MIND along with some other opinions, gathered up my mom, and left this DUMP immediately.

I could write about more than a couple of very negative experiences during this time but I will focus here on this past Sunday's Mother's Day brunch. The brunch itself was okay, the food was neither great but not bad, but when my mother wasn't able to finish her whole piece of salmon, I started putting it in a small container that she brought with her (they refuse to give a "to-go" container) when our server told us that we couldn't take it out! Excuse me! A mediocre brunch that we paid $24.00 a piece for and they would not let us take our half piece of salmon home! I don't blame our server as she is told what to do by management, but I feel that this just wrong and borderline abusive towards the elderly who are easily taken advantage of. Come on Robsons, please do better.
