They were easy to communicate with and very responsive. Ali was even responding to emails just a few days before having her baby, setting up trials and making sure all was going well. For our wedding, these three ladies came to our hotel and took fabulous care of us. They were flexible when a couple of our bridesmaids wanted to add lashes day of and they looked fabulous. I don't normally wear a lot of makeup but Ali set me at ease making sure that I looked natural and "like myself" while also highlighting some features so I could be "camera ready." I was very concerned about make-up because I wear so little regularly and I wanted to make sure I looked like myself on my wedding day. After speaking with Ali on the phone, I was confident she knew what I wanted and she delivered! She was very professional but also very fun to talk to. She gave tips along the way and the make-up lasted all night without showing signs of happy tears, kisses and lots of hugs. Andrea Boyer did hair and she, too, was incredible. I showed her a few photos and she made my hair even prettier than the photos. It was so me and stayed intact all night, even after my somewhat intense dancing! The three of us who had our hair done all got what we wanted and looked amazing. She was so great she even helped another friend who couldn't figure out how to curl her own hair. Avalon is located only a mile from my workplace so I decided to give them a try. I've heard great things about them from a few friends too. My favorite part about my visit here were that I was a walk-in and they were able to accommodate me right away. The host/woman at the desk was friendly and had me pick out my nail colors. I selected a dark blue and glitter (galaxy, ya know?!) and had a seat. The nail technician (I want to say her name was Sarah) wasn't very talkative and got to work immediately. My other favorite thing about this visit is that she was quick! I loved being able to walk through the doors, get my nails done and leave in 30 minutes. So awesome. My nails look great too! My only complaint is that the nail technicians work space was super dirty. It had dust particles all over it which was making my hands itchy. It just felt dirty. Next time, if this happens, I'll be sure to speak up and ask her to wipe the space first. I was pleased with my $30 bill, which after a tip was $36. That's almost $10 less than I was paying at my former nail salon.

Less than 24 hours after making that complaint, I received a text message from an unknown Chicago-area phone number calling me names. The timing was concerning enough that I felt it should be reported to the salon. I did not feel that concern was taken seriously. I was told that someone would contact me regarding my complaint, but I was left waiting without any meaningful response. At this point, I was seeking a refund because I am deeply dissatisfied with the haircut itself, upset by the way my concerns have been handled, and troubled by the harassing message I received after reporting my experience. When my calls were not being returned, I called again for a third time and at that time was told that Donna is the owner of the business and would never do such a thing. My initial complaint was regarding my haircut. I have fine hair, and throughout my appointment the stylist described what she was doing as adding "movement" to my hair. At no point did I understand that significant debulking was being done. That is not something I would have requested. The result is that my hair feels much thinner than before, and I have not been able to find a way to style it that I feel good about. Another concern is that my hair was not blow-dried at the end of the service. It wasn't until I went home, washed it myself, and blow-dried it that I was able to fully see the haircut and notice the issues I have with it. Looking at it styled properly only made me more upset with the final result. Now this situation is much larger and I am still hoping for a full refund for the service.

She gave me a wonderful pedicure and gel manicure and was a joy to chat with. She said she's owned the business in that location for 28 years. There is a massage therapist, facial esthetician, two nail technicians including Regina and she rents out space for three hairdressers. It was $70 total for a gel manicure and pedi. My husband, myself and my 7-year-old daughter have been seeing Jasmine for several years. She is always pleasant and does a great job for all three of us. We have never had a bad haircut from her and she always does a fantastic job with my hair color as well. In addition, my father travels regularly from his town about 2 hours away to have Crystal cut his hair. He has an issue with how his hair grows on one side and she is the only person who consistently cuts it to his liking. She is also exceptionally pleasant and the atmosphere in the salon is always welcoming and relaxed. In summary, I never hesitate to refer friends/family to this salon and we get many compliments on our hair. read more

The girl on the phone only wanted to book me an appointment with one of the stylist not knowing what I was looking for. I finally go so frustrated I told the girl to just forget the entire appointment. It is really bad when a hair salon can not do what you ask only want to stick you whoever. I guess pray and pay if it was not done correctly. What a shame too because I am a good person and only wanted someone there to do their job and help me before sticking me with an unknown person. The owner should do something NOW!! I still would like my hair done but I guess that will never happen.
