worst doctors office in the history of doctors offfices. I have been going here since I was in pediatrics and finally now that I'm old enough I am going to change and never come back here again. last week I came in to talk to a doctor about an authroization for PT and was referred to her secretary. This secretary (Hannah) was the nastiest woman I've ever spoken to. i over heard her tell her coworker "why is she here, she shouldn't even be in our office" because she's right- i had to come in and confront them because they don't answer the god damn phone. Then she continuted on to call me "honey" in the most condescending tone. Fast forward to this week - I'm on my third appointment for a sinus infection. The physician is trying to give me new antibiotics for it, even tho I have already gotten a yeast infection from my last round of antibiotics. This male PA then had the audacity to look me in the face and tell me "yeast infections aren't a big deal they're not that bad". This is absolutely mind blowing to me. He had never had a a vaginal yeast infection and actually they're the most painful and uncomfortable things ever - so it would be really nice if a "doctor" didnt express his feelings about something he doesn't know anything about. I am so beyond disappointed with this care and i hope at the very least, Hannah is taught to have better customer service and the PA victor doesn't mansplain about something he knows NOTHING about. read more

Overall this is a decent one-stop shop (with a few exceptions) for one's basic medical needs. My PCP (Dr K Klaus) is exceptional and all specialists I've had have been acceptable at least, often better than that. This hospital has really good doctors. I have had good and bad experiences here. The hospital has several departments so it helps to have everything in a single building. They also have a lab and a radiology section for X-Rays. No MRIs though. Also, I don't think they do surgeries here. But Harvard-Vanguard has several locations so you always get to do your complicated surgeries or MRIs at the same hospital, different location. I like the Wellesley location, it's the closest from my house and has good doctors. The staff is polite and helpful. I have seen rude people sitting behind check-in, billing counters at other hospitals. But not here. The bad part is the wait time in some departments. Sometimes the specialist doctors take too long to see you despite you having a scheduled appointment. I have waited as long as 80 minutes to see the doctor. This is sad and not expected from such professional and highly qualified doctors. They need to respect the time of their patients, especially when the appointment is scheduled. I agree that something can come up and the doctor could be late. But at such time, it is the responsibility of the doctor's office staff to let the people in the waiting area know that there is an issue. During my 80min wait in the waiting room, nobody told me anything. When I went to ask multiple times, they said that I will be called soon. I have had this experience twice in one department (Orthopedic). However, don't simply go by my bad experience. I would still continue going to this hospital because of the well qualified doctors and a good network of hospitals at different locations. read more

This review is for a Dr. Justin Smith, who specializes in pediatric optometry. My eight year old daughter failed her eye exam at the yearly well-visit, and we were referred to this office. I just went with whomever could see us at our preferred time slot after school. We were lucky to have met Dr. Smith. He was super friendly and energetic, engaging my daughter and answering all of her questions. I'm just so happy that my daughter had such a positive experience with her first visit to an optometrist. I was impressed by his patience and energy. He also responded to all my questions with solid answers which got me thinking about my own eye care needs! We were told that we could go downstairs to the eye glass shop that same day without making a separate appointment. So, we decided to go downstairs to pick out a pair of glasses. The technician/saleslady was also very helpful, ordering the correct size frames for a specific style that my daughter wanted. read more

If you are someone who follows the process and expects to be seen at the time you have a scheduled appointment this practice is not for you. I have had appointments canceled without notifying me for various reasons like: the practice having incorrect insurance information (and subsequently canceling my appointments twice), and the NP I was scheduled to see calling in sick with no appointments available for several weeks with no apparent coverage for existing appointments. If medical concerns like treating depression and responsible birth control are important to you, this is not the practice for you. I recommend the CVS Minute Clinic which is where I ultimately ended up going after not being seen here despite my best efforts to follow the process. read more

Seriously during COVID-19 trying to get care I wouldn't push your luck and a good day my primary care physician is overworked she usually runs about an hour late it's nice to know things don't let her change much for Virtually By the time she gets to me shits usually too late for her to do anything on our follow ups are usually pushing them to other people to help you follow up which never happens I need an emergency clinic visit at a different location the emergency clinic visit became almost a week later causing me a Maius of infecti They've laid off all the people who used to answer the phone so now the phones are not being answered they ring for Arbonne hour before you finally get a staff After physicians have decided to take a leave from Mocine tire year some of the very best for now not there making me wonder why I'm still using this practice I stay for one nurse And besides that I'm not really sure of COVID-19 has made this place pretty useless I needed a urine culture on Friday I couldn't get prescribed until Saturday then the antibiotic porn get prescribed until Tuesday This place was not efficient before COVID-19 forget it now completely and totally on efficient I would highly recommend finding anywhere else read more

I usually go to the Kenmore office for ultrasounds, but recently moved and thought Wellesley would be more convenient. I booked my appointment weeks in advance and took my last personal day to attend. My mother also took a personal day to come, excited to see the baby. The sonographer called out and my appointment is canceled and there was nothing done to accommodate. I am willing to go to literally any other location so that this is not a wasted personal day and because I cannot take any more time off, using all my sick days for maternity. I explained this all and they could not fit me in at any location. Very frustrating. read more

The location is convenient- right on rt 9, not far from 128. They have some 30 minute parking spots right in front - if you just have to run in for a quick prescription or quick blood test. As with most places of this sort - physician relationships are very personal. I have been lucky to find 2 very personable and competent doctors at this location. read more

I was greeted with a warm smile by Elaine at the front desk. I am transitioning in between jobs and changing insurances, so was not sure if my current insurance would cover today's appointment. I am being seen in OBGYN for routine prenatal care. When I called the billing dept. they told me I have to pay $300 as deposit for today's visit. I just mentioned that to Elaine and she was on the phone for approx. 30min. trying to verify things with billing. In the end she got the confirmation that I do not owe anything for today's appointment. I am grateful to Elaine for going above and beyond to help me! read more

I've moved to Needham about 10 years ago. Been a patient at this clinic since 2015. It's definitely just as good or better than most other HVMA locations. I have experience in Braintree, Quincy and Kenmore. From my experience the Wellesley facility has shorter wait times. My doctor is great and the other staff that work with him have been super attentive and helpful. No complaints so far read more

Just had the absolute worst experience in Wellesley. Had a 9am appointment that they mis scheduled and moved me to 11am so I waited 2 hours. Then at 11 they were running a half hour behind. I absolutely had to leave at noon and told them that. Asked if they'd see if it could happen by then the receptionist walked to the back and never came back. I'm never experienced this level of unprofessionalism and disrespect in my life. read more

Went here to see an ear specialist for chronic ringing in my right ear. Appointment setter warned me doctor would want me to have a hearing test, but I resisted. First visit was standard. Dr. was quick without much feedback. Made me take a hearing test. Second visit was comical. Hearing test machine was making strange noises the technician didn't believe until I made her listen. Then she admitted the machine was having problems, fiddled with old connections on machine (looked right out of the '70s) and finished test. Third visit was upsetting. Doctor reviewed hearing test results, said I had hearing loss (no duh, I have ringing in my right ear). Told me there was nothing he could do, then recommended I come back for a hearing test in 6 mos! No wonder we need healthcare reform. I wouldn't have paid for this mess if my insurance didn't cover it. read more

I used to love this practice. Good location-clean-everything under one roof. But now I'm not sure why I'm even staying. I understand covid and how it has changed the practice-but even before covid, the majority of specialists I see there have all left. PCPs and NPs have left and the support staff is on a constant turnover. Forget who you spoke with a month ago-because they are gone. I haven't had a PCP in years and decided that it was time to put my big girl panties on and deal with some shit. When I was living in Somerville I called a bunch of places and they all were either not accepting patients or there was a 3-6 month wait for an appointment. Seriously? When I relocated to Newton, I tried again. All the doctors close to my house are "concierge practices" which means that you have to pay a significant joining fee ($1.5k on average) to become a member. Not surprisingly, I declined that offer. I called up HVMA and immediately got an appointment, no fees, no wait. I was shocked, and very happy. I saw Dr. Klaus- a young female doctor who is a great listener and doesn't lecture. I've seen her twice now - once for a sinus infection and once for a physical (including the lady parts exam) and she was great both times-- quick without being brusque and still quite thorough. I knocked off a star because the building is really confusing and sometimes the practices move around within them based on the day of the week-- it's a little disorienting. read more

I wish I could them zero stars after my experience with them yesterday. I had a noon appointment and arrived on time as usual. Upon entering I was told they did Covid screenings which I was happy about. Upon the screening the lady asked if I had a cough. I was honest and said I was just treated they day before in Norwood for my asthma and that sometimes I do cough as a result of my asthma. I also stated I was tested the day before at Harvard Norwood and my results were negative. The lady told me to go register in. While registering I was talking with one lady and the lady who screened me got on the phone in the lobby and loudly stated there was a positive cough case coming up to internal medicine A along with my name and everything... I was a little taken aback by this because as I just explained I was tested the day before and was negative and also what about patient privacy? So I go up frustrated already walk into the waiting room and could hear everyone in the back stating my full name the reason for my visit along with other information that they got from my medical chart. I was not the only one in the waiting room which put me in an awkward position because now my privacy was just exposed to others. I even heard them say "I don't know why he's here he just came back from Puerto Rico and has a cough" mind you I wasn't there for my cough I was there for another serious issue which they stated out loud just seconds before. Upon being brought to the back I was already seeing red and one of the same people asked how was I doing. So I stated that I was pissed off and she stated we could talk in private about it. Why in private now? Everyone knew why I was there. Then the Internal medicine supervisor Mary Lucas decided she was going to insert herself in the room without knocking again no privacy and patronized me by patting me on the leg and telling me to lower my tone. Which I told her to remove her hands from me I never gave you permission to touch me and I will not lower my tone just like they hadn't when discussing my medical records. I then asked for everyone's name and she rolled her eyes and refused. She had the administrator come up to "smooth" things over. So a lady Leslie Nuey come in and I explain the whole situation to her told her I want everyone's names and she told me she had to respect the privacy of her staff!!! Are you kidding me what about your patients privacy that was not protected by your employees. So I told her I would like to file a complaint about my privacy being exposed and would like the number for Hipaa. She never returned to the room. I was wondering how are you the administrator and never ended the conversation never stated a solution for me nothing.... at the end of my appointment Mary Lucas comes back with a sticky note and with her name and Leslie's name and a compliance number and the proceeded to pat me on the back and tell me she hopes my day gets better!! Now I've already asked you once to not touch me so why would you do it again? Definitely an embarrassing and humiliating experience there at Wellesley read more

I come here for blood work because my HVMA location doesn't have a lab. The hours here are great and they got to me quickly, surprisingly so! I had an 8am appointment and saw many people in the waiting room; however, I was only sitting for about 5 minutes before they made their way through the line of folks before me! In and out quickly and on my way... that's a sign of a good lab! read more

My family has had a great experience with Harvard Vanguard in Wellesley over the past 3 years since we started going there. The OB/GYN department has successfully seen me through 2 high risk pregnancies. Dr. Fretts and midwife Suzanne Wright provided excellent care - they were very vigilant with my risks but didn't scare me, sent me for a high risk 2nd opinion for extra precaution, and answered all questions and spent as much time as we needed to feel comfortable. Also good experiences meeting other OBs and midwives from the practice (for appointments in the office or in the hospital while delivering/post partum). We now go to the pediatrics department and they are also excellent! Dr. Peters and Paula Grant are our primary contacts but we've had a good experience with everyone in the office (usually see others for sick visits). I'm particularly impressed that when daycare calls and says my child is sick, I can call this office as late as 5:30pm and they will tell me no problem that I can bring my child in for a visit that same night! The lab is usually fairly quick and their hours are great for us. Patrick is especially good with bloodwork on babies. We love the online account to be able to view test results immediately and communicate via email with our doctors. The 24 hour phone line is a huge comfort for pregnant moms and new parents! My husband and I have just started having primary care doctor's appointments - so far, so good. read more

Called and requested a prescription for Tammiflu. Got approved and was told prescription would be called in to the CVS i very specifically requested. Drove two towns over and CVS has nothing. I called the office and they told me they mistakenly filled it at their own pharmacy which is 40 minutes away. I was very clear about where they should send it. They told me they'll contact the doctor and move the prescription. I could not wait for this process and to cover for their incompetence. I had to leave. No prescription. This is medical care? I'll go without it. Time for a new primary care physician. read more

I have been with Harvard Vanguard since the 1970. I have always been happy with the service and choice of doctors. Now Atruis Health as taken over in the last few years and the care you receive has declined when doctors would listen to you and then treat you but now they rush you through your appointment and leaving there feeling like a;; they were interested in was getting another patient's money and then on to the next. My Pre,ary who always gave me excellent care has now been rushing me through my appointment so I can't ask the questions I am concerned about. Now I have to write to him on line and ask for Medical Advise. Wait for an answer which can take up to 2 days. Now for Billing....Please check your bills because there is no longer a Claim# to check what you are paying for each month. If you pay it in full, they roll over some charges again so you get OVERBILLED! When you question them with this, they say your insurance has readjusted your bill. If you don't pay it,..there goes your credit because they send it to a bill collector. read more

So this review is for the customer service only. I want to make clear that my doctors here have always been fine, however I have a very different experience with the general call center and customer service. On many occasions Harvard Van forgets to follow up about my prescriptions at my local CVS. My anger derives from both CVS delinquency and Harvard inadequacy. However today when I had to follow up yet again about a regular monthly prescription I was told that I have been "neglectful" as a patient and do not follow up. I was yelled at on the phone. This is completely unacceptable. I go to another doctor at Joslin Clinic and they have repeatedly told me they send my vitals and regular information over to Harvard Vanguard. However HV says otherwise and completely blames me for this (I've followed up about 3x about this). I find it ridiculous that Harvard Vanguard does not give my other doctor a call to even figure this out and instead blames me for delinquency. On top of that, nobody warns me from their end that my monthly prescription is not getting refilled per usual (where is common decency?) This is NOT something that should fall on the patient. Without patients, your practice does not exist. Without patients you are without jobs. You should really think twice next time before treating someone as poorly as this. This frustration has occurred for many years, and at this point I would never refer someone I know to this establishment. Please work harder on training the employees who answer phones/follow up with patients/and in general work with the doctors to make sure patients are satisfied. This is really sub-par. Been going to this HVMA for 10+ years, never really had a bad experience. The first level is registration, labs, x-ray, orthopedics and pharmacy. The registration line moves quickly and in an organized fashion. I go to HVMA for my primary care and Dr. Rebecca Hill is the best. The many other specialties in this HVMA are also great. Location is convenient, there is a garage attached with plenty of parking (at least when I go there early in the morning or late in the evening). I know that parking lot can get really full from late morning to around 3pm. The one time I needed an urgent care appointment I was able to see someone the next day. This is the best hospital in metro west area! I have been a patient at this clinic since 1992. No lines, everything is fast and easy. I have been in care of Dr. Barker and Dr. Lee and I am very thankful to both of them for taking care of me and being there for me when I needed them. All of my 3 kids (23 years old, 8 and 21 month) have been seeing Dr. Yablonski since they were born and they absolutely adore him. Dr. Yablonski is sweet, gentle and very knowledgeable doctor, who knows how to listen. My kids feel comfortable around Dr. Yablonski and safe. The office is very clean. It is easy to make appointments and there are virtually no wait times. It is easy to make an appointment at the last minute, and they have an Urgent Care appointments available. Most of all, I like their pediatrics practice. First,of all I did not choose to be part of the medical group. My primary left her previous practice and joined this thing. I've luckily never have had to see her from anything other than a physical and 1 or 2 bad colds and that was with an NP. What I do have are bad allergies, which I have to have monthly shots for at my allergist's office, who I have seen for over 10 years. Getting referrals out of HV is a hassle and you will be harassed by the referral dept., namely Chandra and Julie. Anytime, I have had to call for referrals I have been questioned why and told "we have allergists in the practice" Explain, get monthly shots, like my dr., he knows my allergies and makes the serums for them. " we have allergists on staff". After February they will not give me any more referrals because they want me to see one of theirs, it's as if it is a cult. Who cares if my health will be affected, you need to do what they want. I have tried to get in touch with my primary care, Dr. Brogan, no call back. Who knows if the receptionist even gave her the message that I wanted to talk to her, since during one of the calls she automatically transferred me to the harassing referral dept. All in all, if you already have relationships with any kind of specialists be aware you will not be allowed to see them if they aren't part of HV. In the end it affects their bottom line. Update: Just received a letter in the mail today from Chandra who was writing on the behalf of Dr Brogan..because HV cares about me so much and they want to have coordinated and collaborative care, my referral will be denied...so caring about their patients. I was told earlier today by Julie it was approved and I have one for February and no more...so what is the story??? The left doesn't know what the right is saying or doing. If you don't have blood pressure be careful you may develope it because of this place. read more

Went to Urgent Care here on a Sunday for neck issues that left me unable to really move my neck much at all. This same thing had happened to me about 3 weeks before. I met with a doctor who started telling me the medication I should be taking (ibuprofen, tylenol) in addition to muscle relaxers and prescription pain killers that they had prescribed me last time. She told me that in addition to 800 mg of ibuprofen every 4-6 hours, I should take tylenol. Because I don't want to take TOO much, I asked how much tylenol I should be taking in addition to the ibuprofen. She told me that they don't go over reading labels at Harvard Van Guard and that I would need to read it myself. COMPLETELY unnecessary. My concern was taking too much/interactions since I would ALSO be taking ibuprofen. I had already not slept the night before due to pain and got very visibly upset and started crying instantly. All she did? Handed me a tissue and walked out. No goodbye, no apology for treating me that way, just ended the appointment by handing me a tissue. I think it's about time for me to switch and get out of HVG. Awful!! read more

I went to do a routine physical exam, but the physician added some other exams during the visit without telling me that not included in the routine checkup and needs extra charge until I got the bill. I felt so cheated and the staff was really unprofessional. When I discussed with them about this issue, the representative at their finical department had a bad attitude and immediately denied their responsibility. I am thinking about changing to another hospital, and would not recommend it to anyone I know. read more

Horrible and unacceptable service at this urgent care in Wellesley. My daughter was there for an appointment and was first seen by a nurse who took her blood pressure etc and she briefly explained her symptoms. A little while later, Dr. Wendy Farnsworth walks in, gives my daughter a list of labs to get done, tells her to follow up with her PCP, ignores what she had to say and leaves. My daughter is 21, very shy and non confrontational and just left without being able to explain her symptoms. So frustrating. read more

The doctors here are all nice, but there's a bureacracy there that drives me crazy sometimes. I'd recommend it to anyone that doesn't have established relationships with doctors in the area, because they are efficient and more or less nice, but aviod them if you want to easily maintain relationships with specialists you've seen in the past. read more

I have used the urgent care and several specialists numerous times over the last few years but never again. I have left Harvard Vanguard entirely because I am a plus sized woman and I have experienced a very overt size bias at this practice. On the most memorable occasion, I mentioned to the doctor that I appreciated that they had larger smocks than most places, and she said, "Yes my normal patients appreciate that too." I do not want to give my business to a corporate culture that discriminates. Go someplace else. read more

I used to work in a restaurant, and I burned my arm on a plate. It was a 2nd degree burn (nothing too serious). I went to the HVMA about a week after the incident due to an increase in pain. I was greeted warmly and brought over to an intake counter, I don't remember any of their names, but there were 4-5 very nice women tasked with sorting out the patients. My injury was completely covered by workers comp, but without a PCP, I was told that I could not see anyone. That was after a few soft guarantees that "of course we'll fit you in"... Nope. I was told to go use a phone in the corner, where the telerepresentative informed me that because I did't have a PCP I couldn't become a member, which was required to see any of their medical staff. The angry voice on the phone followed my call with an authoritative call to intake desk. The friendly receptionist then recommended that I go to the hospital. I told them that I was going to Yelp. P.S. I did end up going to the hospital. Yay inefficient healthcare system! Newton Wellesley was lovely. Park as close to the ER as possible. The hospital is LARGE. read more
