We sat at a table and our server asked what alcohol we prefer and flavors. He created drinks for the four of us that were spot on! I told him I like spicy and tequila. He created a tequila drink topped with cayenne pepper. My friend said she liked gin, ginger, and herbs. He created a gin mule with fresh ginger. The drinks had excellent flavor and a fair share of alcohol. The flavor of the drink was not overpowered by the alcohol. Drinks were about $14/each. This is an easy five. The decor, the comfortable seating, and then the superstars, the bartenders/mixologists. We were lucky enough to not have a wait. But as soon as you sit down you feel catered to. They ask you which spirit you prefer and what you like and don't like. Within minutes they're making you a one of a kind cocktail, that tests the boundaries of what cocktails should taste like. The fun thing is everyone ends up at the bar for a closer experience with the mixologist. I am compelled to share my disappointment with the service at Attaboy. Upon arriving with a group of 9, we were met with hostility and refusal to accommodate us. Despite the bar not being at full capacity, the staff member, whom I can only describe as lacking basic customer service skills, outright dismissed our request for seating. Honestly felt that since we were Hispanic the guy at the door did not want to serve us. Not only did this ruin our plans for the evening, but it also left a sour taste in our mouths regarding the establishment's attitude towards patrons. I strongly advise against visiting this bar if you expect even a modicum of respect and hospitality. If you're coming from out of town do not attempt to go here!! It is super dark you can't see anything so it is a good idea to come for a first date if you are shy or if you ran out of hair gel or make up. The drinks are delicious! I visited Attaboy on a date and couldn't have had a more wonderful experience. There was a wait when I went and a really cute mural outside. After you get inside, the setting is dark and dimly lit, very small and intimate, with a bar and several tables. I ordered a drink that had flavors of tequila, strawberry, and mint, and I received a deliciously creamy alcoholic concoction that was pleasantly pink with an herbaceous hint. I highly recommend ordering the Taylor Swift drink as well if you'd like to see what they fashion up for you. My second drink I requested was one that was strong and citrusy with gin as the base. What I received completely surpassed my expectations!! I could drink that cocktail every day. Truly could not recommend enough. The service was impeccable and attentive. The prices, at 15 dollars per drink, are on par with what you can expect from Nashville nightlife. Overall, a must-visit spot that I would come back to! read more

What an experience. We knocked on the door, and we weren't entirely sure it was the right one. Once open, the doorman/bartender let us know that there was a wait, but he'd call when seats opened. He assured us that we weren't going to lose our spot if we weren't a minute or two away. He happily suggested a place for us in walking distance to hang while we waited, which turned out to be great. The drinks aren't cheap but you don't pay cover so there's that. Once in, we we're escorted to our seats and the bartender explained the process. We told them our preferred flavor profiles and then we waited for the magic to happen. This place is really a mixologists dream. Several types of ice, digestifs and syrups galore were but a fraction of what was being put into glasses. The bartenders are also pretty good about trying the drink before they serve it to you. I actually saw one drink get thrown out since it wasn't up to snuff. I'd tell you what we got but 1) You're going to get something tailored to you and 2) There were so many specialty things in it that I can't remember half of them already. Save for Edison bulbs that lit the seats in front of the bar, the entire place is lit by candles. The tables, bar and even trays-candles. The shelves that housed the liquor? Candles. It give the place a speakeasy feel without the over the top flapper décor. According to one of the bartenders, this place originally rooted it self in NY and after a lease takeover and some relocation, this place popped up. If you can swing it, go for at least one. Here's how this works: you've got to walk up to this back-alley door and knock on it, then some hipster in a Hawaiian shirt answers the call. I'm old enough to remember speakeasies and this is no speakeasy. There was a certain level of caution and exclusivity with speakeasies, but this place was basically a Sam's Club. It seems like if you're a warm body with a wallet then you pass the test. If they aren't going for the whole genuine speakeasy thing then I don't know what all the pageantry is about. Anyways, this Hawaiian-shirt-clad hipster sits you down in a booth in the darkest room you've ever been in. He doesn't give us any menus before he walks away. Let me be clear... If you told me my ticket into a drinking establishment was a feeble knock on handleless door I would have walked away on principle alone. There are plenty of other places willing to take my money for a J&B neat without all the fanfare. Is it deja vu or is it some other hipster in a Hawaiian shirt squatting at the side of our table giving us a whole spiel about how things "work around here"? It's some other hipster, perhaps the lead hipster, giving an entire dissertation on the ordering process. We're told they have no menu, and apparently the way you get a drink is by telling this schlebb your favorite liquor and what kinds of flavors you like in a drink. I have two very simple answers to this absurd question: whiskey and whiskey. My daughter seems indifferent, but the spineless son-in-law is completely giddy about this experience. I love my daughter with every inch of my heart, but her decision to marry into such weakness makes me sick. A man who can't ask for the fathers blessing before proposing is no man at all. It's the same kind of man who can't look you in the eye when he shakes your hand... the kind of 'man' that doesn't tuck his shirt in for church. I'm not saying my daughter settled, but I'm not saying that my son-in-law isn't the most spineless dewdropper I've ever met either. It gets to my turn and I tell this slick bastard that I want an old fashioned. Judging by the look on his face it would seem that I just ruined their whole business model, but I'm not losing sleep over it. He already ruined my night! I give this place 2 stars off for the smug hipsters in this place's employ, 1 star off for Hawaiian shirts in a landlocked bar, 1 star off for the convoluted ordering process, and I would absolutely give it several more stars off for no other reason than spite. read more

I will say that when I go to a new place, I view the aptitude, experience and customer service to be like a Christmas tree, but what is a xmas tree without the embellishments of lights and everything else that makes it truly beautiful?
