If you are in Nashville, take a break away from Broadway and head to Attaboy in East Nashville. This place is the ultimate cocktail bar. It is the ideal speak easy. They do not have a menu. There is no vodka. They will interview you on what kind of drinks you like and things you don't like, then voila! You have a new cocktail. Get there early to get on the list. Drinks are reasonably priced. It was about $20 per drink. The service was impeccable. It is very dark inside that gives you the speak easy feel. A must try if you are in Nashville!
Slightly disappointed I consider the people behind Attaboy which is Atomix, to be the greatest restaurant in the country. In addition to the tasting menu there's a bar tasting & while still not the greatest cocktails ever they're better than the ones I had here at Attoboy. I like the concept of no set menu however I'm way too hard to please. I challenged the hell out of my bartender & during both drinks he didn't meet my expectations. You could do far worse but at damn near $50 for two cocktails plus tip. I was underwhelmed
I love a speakeasy, and Attaboy is a treat. First time I came with a few folks for my birthday & we enjoyed. Recently, I went on a weeknight solo since I was at an event nearby. It's dark & sultry, and the bar seats are comfortable. The team was kind and attentive, and I love the process of describing what I love and receiving a drink. Parking is not very easy in this area & more than likely you will need to pay & possibly walk a bit. Love: ambiance; service; drinks
OK Speakeasy Creative VIBE! Was my first time and wow did not expect this to be a moment of creating. This place is super moody from the entrance to the ordering of drinks. They will let you in- no need to knock! When the waiter comes over they will ask what is your vibe - what are your taste buds feelings like------ then will go & Create the magi of that note! My taste buds were feeling Tequila, mint, and not a lot of juice (not a fan too sweet drinks). They hit it right on the head with a China Ricky! 100/100 very delicious. Good atmosphere of intimate conversation and stimulating surroundings. I recommend a table if more than 3 people. Other than that the bar is very cool.
I've not been to a proper cocktail bar in years and this place made me want to change that perspective. Parking is a bit tough, street parking in a busy sector but totally doable - get out your parallel parking skills. You have to wait outside while they seat others in front of you. I like this aspect because there is not much of a waiting area inside and keeps the bar from being over crowded. The Staff were incredible. Super kind and really knowledgeable. When you order you can tell them a specific cocktail or just flavors you like. I had several incredible drinks. Great experience.
What a treat to find that my favorite bar in NY has a location in Nashville! When you arrive, wait outside and someone will come out to help you. If there's a wait, they will put your name on the line and send a text message with a 15 minute return window. The concept of Attaboy is that there is no menu. You let the bartender know what type of liquor and flavors you enjoy for a creation of your own personalized cocktail. We each had two rounds with each cocktail being $20 (which is cheaper than NY). Compared to the NY location, this one is much more spacious and modern as well. It's the perfect spot to impress a date or friends while enjoying some of the best cocktails.
Wish I could give this place 6 or even 7-stars. The drinks are incredible, but the hospitality is next level. They genuinely care--whether it's nailing your drink or making you feel welcome in the neighborhood. Vibes are also spot on - great for any occasion. A must visit in Nashville. Shoutout to Eric, Mike, Scott, Jesse, Jameson, and Cole. Thanks for making this place what it is. Also everybody should order a Flintlock at least once in their life !
This unassuming building is located in an alley. Very limited parking in the immediate vicinity, public lots and street parking available. I recommend arriving before they open, a line was forming after we got there. No parties larger than 6, no reservations. You had to wait outside, to be escorted inside and to your seat. The inside is dark and moody, low lighting, candles, etc. The main area has bar seating, 4 booths that fit 6, and small separate room, and a couch area. So very limited seating and you won't be seated after the tables are full, until someone leaves. There is no menu. If you have a drink you like, you can order that. Otherwise the server will ask your likes and dislikes and it is a bit of a surprise. Everyone was very pleasantly surprised, one friend remarked 'he gets me!'
I absolutely love Attaboy. Every visit has been super intimate. Super exciting in service is incredible. I love the intimacy of talking to your bartender and allowing them to make the final decision when it comes to the drink you'll be having. It's a great way to introduce someone to Nashville outside of Broadway. It's one of my favorite bars and I love the East Nashville scene so I would definitely recommend it.
How in the world did i take so long to come back here omfg!!!??? I happen to come here with a friend just to have some drinks and check out the new decor since it's been that long. I love that they don't have a drink menu and you just tel.them what you want and they make it for you. So I told them of course I want an expresso martini and man did the bartender deliver! The freaking best expresso martini i have ever had hands down. The vibe and the ambiance here is amazing. Guess I'm about to be a regular now lol.
Had a wonderful experience at Attaboy from start to finish. Service is impeccable and the vibes are fun. It's like a speakeasy but it's not pretentious and it's more liberating on cocktails. All the cocktails we had were perfectly balanced in all aspects. The service was top notch and everyone knew what they were doing. Great experience and all of the staff deserves their kudos.
Although not a speakeasy, this cocktail bar has all the vibes of one with its atmosphere inside and the entrance in a back alley. At night the entrance is not well lit and not very noticeable. The door is locked and you don't have to knock or ring a bell. The bartenders can see you on the security screen and will come out when they see you, or when there is an opening to sit. Once inside you're surrounded by modern, yet handsome decor with the perfect lighting and a comfortable amount of tables and bar chairs where you have your own space. They do not pack the bar, which creates a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching all the drink making action (and the security TV as well ). I was also super impressed with how organized and clean they kept behind the bar. The team really does run like a well oiled machine, but quietly in the background so you don't even notice all the work they are doing. There's no menu. Our bartender chatted with us on what type of cocktail we prefer and he created one on the spot. My cocktail of choice was anything with gin, that was on the sweet side with no red dye 40 (IYKYK) . My cocktail was delicious! CL's cocktail was made with bourbon and he loved his as well. We actually liked them so much, we decided to stay for a second drink! Each bartender has their own area at the bar, which was so nice because it helps them be super attentive the whole time. This is a first come first serve cocktail bar, so if you go at a busier time of night, be prepared to wait to get in. They don't seat parties greater than 6, so pick your company wisely. Service was top notch, ambiance was cozy & inviting, and drinks were fabulous, so if you want a memorable experience we highly recommend you try it out next time you're in Nashville.
We had a fantastic time here. One of the most memorable bars I've been to in any state. It's a speakeasy-style bar, located in a fairly unassuming building with the name on the wall outside. You can't go in, you wait outside the door to be added to their waitlist. It's a first come-first-serve situation. No reservations. We ended up going to a different bar while we waited. When your number is up, they text you, giving you 15 minutes to relocate from wherever you're waiting to the front door. We ended up waiting about 45 minutes but the waits can stretch much longer than that. Once you're inside, it's a pretty comfortable dimly lit space. There's no menu, they instead ask you your preferences and make you a drink based on that, or you can tell them exactly what you want and they'll make it for you, including any tweaks or modifications you could want. Mike was our bartender, and I couldn't ask for a better one. He made my girlfriend a drink based on her preferences which suited her perfectly, and he helped me recreate a drink I've had before, which was spot on, as well as made a perfect dry old-fashioned. He even wrote the recipe of her drink down for us, so we could recreate it at home or elsewhere. Drinks are about $20 each, but for the experience in the bar and bar the knowledge that the bartenders have, I'd say it's well worth it. I've been looking for a great bar since I moved to Nashville, and I think I've found my number one spot so far. Highly recommend checking this out if you have the inclination and the time to.

This place had a long wait last time we tried to go, so I'm glad we were able to get in Sunday evening. You wait outside until someone comes out to greet and seat you & your party. The ambiance is dim and chill. There is no menu, they describe how to order your drinks: you explain to them what you like and they suggest and make a drink for you based on your taste! I LOVED the experience. I enjoyed both my drinks; can't remember the first one but the 2nd one was called Paris, Texas a tequila based drink. They did mention they don't carry Vodka. 10/10 experience (not sure if they have food) I will definitely be back! read more

Honestly, such a good vibe. Dark and moody with good vibes and good drinks. Eric was a stellar bartender who made myself and my friends drinks better than we could have imagined. I appreciate how you come in and tell them what you like and they make your drink according to what you say. There is no expectation that you know a ton about drinks, which relieves the pressure. My favorite bar that we visited in Nashville. I am a sucker for a craft cocktail and they did it the best. There is no menu, they will ask you about your preferences and what you are in the mood for and make something off the cuff for you (think about spirit forward or more mellow? Sweet? Fruity? Spicy? Tiki? Citrusy? What do you normally drink?). Be patient, good cocktails take time. Every ingredient is fresh and the cocktails reflect it. The team is extremely friendly and approachable, felt like you were hanging out with your friends (if your friends can make cocktails this well!). For me a must visit while in Nashville and I will be going back next time I am in town. read more

Delicious bespoke cocktails. You have to knock to be admitted but once inside you will find it cozy. We went right when they opened on a Saturday and didn't wait long at all. Our bartender was friendly and knew his stuff. We simply gave our spirit of preference along with some adjectives (mine were crisp and fresh) and he created drinks to fit our tastes. YESSSSS GUYS, GO!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND. So it starts like a speakeasy where you knock on the door (gently) and wait for someone to let you in! So cool! Ok, so I have to say bring your big checkbook. I mean, maybe for you that would be normal to spend $15/drink, and I have to preface by saying ITS WORTH IT. It just becomes pretty expensive if you're a couple drinking there. $36 (includes tip) for just 1 drink for you and 1 drink for your partner, so maybe a SPECIAL OCCASION? Either way, it was super loud, so plan to talk really loud over each other if you're with another couple just planning to catch up. The drinks were super yummy. Tell them what sorts of things you like and they will bring you the best drink of your life. If nothing else, you then can use your imagination (or their amazing bartending skills) to create a similar drink in the comfort of your home. We recreated some drinks tonight at home and they are amazing! Go for inspiration! Also I have to say the big ice cubes are wonderful as well. SO GOOD. HIGHLY RECOMMEND read more

I'm so glad my friend brought us here after a yelp event. I'm falling I love with east Nashville more and more as time goes by. I'm also starting to dislike super crowded places. I'm starting to prefer smaller more intimate settings. So this is right up my alley. I love the speak easy vibes. I love the secrecy of it all. I also love that if they're full... you aren't getting in. Thank you, next. The drinks are a little pricey, but they're fabulous. They are hand crafted and made specifically/special to your taste and want. There is no menu. Tell your server/bartender what spirits you like and they'll craft something up for you. We got sat in a cute little nook. The dim lighting, the exclusivity, and the personal space. I love it all. I thoroughly enjoyed our last drink of the night with my group. read more

This is quite possibly the coolest bar I've ever been to. We had about an hour wait to get in, but there was plenty to do in the area--we just hopped over to another bar the man at the door recommended. When you sit down (in the excellent ambiance) you're greeted by a server who asks you what you're feeling, what flavors you like, etc. They custom make each cocktail for each patron, putting twists on old classics or reviving prohibition-era mixes. I asked for something herby and was not at all disappointed. It was a version of a Gin Ricky with a wash of absinthe. I was a big fan. Everyone I was with was incredibly impressed. Plus, it just makes you feel fancy to be waited on like that. read more

So we initially drove by about 2am and thought hmmm looks a bit sketch. We didn't feel like getting shanked so we drove by again and looked at reviews and they were all great so against our better judgement we decided to stop. So glad we did. And btw we were so wrong about the outside looks of this place at 2am. Don't be dumb like us and not go unless you're the two chicks who sat next to us and kept sending their drinks back even after asking for a plain Negroni. Don't come here if you have a crappy pallet or don't like the bartenders suggestions after you tell them what you like. You must like good craft cocktails to come here. If you don't then don't go. read more

We went to this bar with high expectations. Having come in from out of town for a party, we were excited to try this spot out. Initially our experience was decent, the server was a little short with us in the ordering experience, which is odd considering this place doesn't have a menu so it requires the server to figure out what might work for you based on your likes. When we checked in to get a table, the host told us that we were able to split our party into two tables with no issue. However, when our sever, Natalie, found out our two tables knew each other, she promptly brought us our check, scolded our table and told us we could not be served if we were together. I found it very bizarre considering that we were not paying together and wouldn't necessarily be considered as one party. She did not care and continued to say it was an owner rule. But the way the issue was brought up made us feel like we were children, and she tried to say that the host did, in fact, not tell us that we could split our table. So we were accused of lying about what the host said on top of having to split our party. Her tone was rude and off putting and she told us we needed to leave. When she brought our check, I also found it strange that the total was written on a piece of paper with no itemized total. I would never go back here and would never recommend. Terrible service for subpar drinks. read more

Oh snap! Speak easy Attaboy is coming in for the kill on being one of the coolest spots in East Nashville. The most unexpected spot off McFerrin in a building that used to belong to a workspace/part time home. Park the car, walk up to the door, and "knock gently"! The amazing people working at the bar will take it from here. They have a camera setup behind the bar (pictured) that shows who has come a knockin'! Once they let you in, you can come inside to experience the cool vibes of Attaboy and relax with a cocktail made by your mixologist. No menu - you just tell them what you like. Riley was our mixologist and she was great! You could tell she loved what she does and had some passion for Attaboy - mad respect. The only takeaways from this place earning a 5 star review would be that the cocktails are slightly over priced for the quality. $15 per cocktail compared to other spots in the area with better drinks for a couple dollars less is noticeable. Attaboy also does not have any vodka which I found odd. Will definitely be back to this fantastic hidden gem and will pass along the word to all of my friends that Attaboy is here for the party!! read more

This place is great! Love the vibe, love the cocktails. Dim lighting, but not too too dark. You tell them your preferences (tell them your allergies!!!) and they come up with something. I love it bc I don't have to make decisions and I am always delivered with excellent beverages. I believe a drink runs about $14 or so (maybe $15?), but I definitely think it's worth it. You can taste the liquor, you can taste the flavor. These people are masters! Come check it out. Visiting from Seattle, here for 4 days, have been there twice, and will probably return again tonight. read more
